About
Shu En (朱縁) means “red edge / destined connection”, a symbol of threads that bring people and objects together. This name carries both memory and promise, that each journal is not only bound in leather, but also tied to a story, to a hand, to a moment in time.
This project began as something deeply personal. For Ivan, making journals is more than craftwork, it is a way of holding silence, of turning patience into form. Every piece is stitched slowly, with careful attention, and with love.
At its heart, Shu En is about creating companions. Each journal is shaped not only by the leather and the paper, but also by your choices, the shade of the cover, the binding cord, the small eyelet, the charm that accompanies it. These details may seem small, but together they form something intimate, an object that feels as if it was always meant to be yours.
