Music and celebration have been twins since time immemorial, and encountering the very best of the best vividly brought home a sense of attachment to country, especially during these pronounced times of unrest."

V.com weekend vote: Who has the advantage in violin-playing, right-handed or left-handed people?
V.com weekend vote: Who has the advantage in violin-playing, right-handed or left-handed people?
Often when people learn that I am left-handed, they ask, "Do you feel that is an advantage, in playing the violin?" Do right-handed people ever get this question? I've also been asked, "So do you play the violin left-handed?" Which is kind of the opposite of the above question. So does being left-handed confer any advantages, in violin-playing? Or does being right-handed? Which do you feel confers the most advantage?
Minnesota Orchestra Changes Program to Commemorate Alex Pretti and Renee Good
Minnesota Orchestra Changes Program to Commemorate Alex Pretti and Renee Good
On Friday the Minnesota Orchestra announced a special piece to be played at its weekend concerts in memory Minneapolis residents Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who were recently killed in Minneapolis by ICE agents. The heart-rending "Adagietto" from Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 will open its Friday and Saturday concerts, in place of "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice" by Dukas. "In light of the circumstances in our community right now, the program will open with the Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, instead of Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. We offer in in memorial for Alex Pretti and Renee Good - and we share it with love for our audience and our beautiful city on a program that explores the resilience of finding "songs to sing" amidst tragedy and seeing hope in darkness."

Vadim Gluzman: A Most Gracious Encore
Vadim Gluzman: A Most Gracious Encore
To say it’s thrilling to hear violinist Vadim Gluzman perform live is like saying his 1690 ‘ex-Leopold Auer’ Stradivarius is a “nice violin.” His recent appearance with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Aram Demirjian was an opportunity to be transported to the golden age of violin playing. The Brahms Violin Concerto seems woven into his musical DNA and it was nothing short of revelatory.

Hadelich had no problem here, from his unadorned entrance in the first movement to his finger-twisting double stops near the end."
