I write a variety of short- and long-form content for adults, children, and teens.
For teens, I am a former money columnist for a teen magazine. And while a number of my KidLit books are actually written for grades 7-9 they are designed to also interest teens in higher grades.
On the writing for children front, I have exciting news! My co-authored book Only Light Can Do That. 60 Days of MLK – Devotions for Kids (Sharifa Stevens, co-author; Camilla Ru, illustrator) is a finalist in the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s 2025 Christian Book Award, Young People’s Literature category.
The Spanish translation of Juneteenth releases August 1, 2025.
A couple of my other children’s books are below. Learn more about my writing for children here.
I write for adults too! My writing for adults includes a chapter in Our Voices: Issues Facing Black Women in America. And I’m the author of I Want to Talk With My Teen About Money. For a sneak peek at my work, check out my sample clips or read about my success writing for parents.
Truth is, I’ve been involved in so many areas of communications that I often lose count of the myriad ways I’ve served in that arena. But some of those present and past roles include:
