Post surgery

Trigg a few days before his first surgery.

Image

Image

The night before surgery was a little tricky he could not eat past 1:30am and his surgery was at 7:30am in the morning. We also did not want to out him to bed We just wanted to hold him.

Morning of surgery (we are at St. Joes out patient) we were so nervous so many emotions were running wild!

I was worried to hand him over but fortunately they made it so easy and he will go with anyone! The surgery was a total of 2 hours I read magazines bit my nails, played games on my phone, but my nails! My heart was pounding when we saw the surgeon and he said everything went great and he is waiting for us in recovery. He informed us that his nose was a little flat and that he was super swollen and that he would probably need another surgery of his nose doesn't form a peek. He then walked us down the hall and one of the nurses were holding him.

When I saw him I was fighting back tears I didn't want his surgeon to think I was not happy with his work he just didn't look or act like the baby I had handed over. I told Neil I can't do this his lip started to bleed and he was spitting up blood. I didn't know how I was gonna take care of him this week! We stayed for a bout a half our and them they sent us home. I was scared to death!

Image

When we got we first tried to feed him he couldn't have pain medicine if he couldn't eat. He had a hard time eating with his bottle so I decided to try a syringe it took along time to get even an ounce down him!

This picture was taken about 5 hours after surgery I cannot believe how much the sweeping had already gone down.

Day 2

Image

Our first night was rough we took turns with him in the middle of the night unfortunately we were already both so tired from no sleep the night before surgery. He loves to be pushed in the stroller so Neil took him out for a walk at 2:30am and then I took him for a walk at 5:00am.

Day 3 he also slept in the swing cause he loves sleeping on his stomach so luckily we were able to keep him happy swinging.

Day 4 he was starting to feel like himself he was able to roll over with is splints on

Our baby hitler mustache was coming in! He finally was starting to smile by the second day but when he would start he would automatically stop cause it probably didn't feel to good he was soo happy when the kids came home especially paisley!

After 11 days we went back into the surgeon and he removed the scab off his lip! It's so fun to see him smile we love this lil guy so much!

Well we are now 6 months WOW my mind is racing and I am no good with my words but I will never forgive myself if I don't document this year for him to look back on I am SO SAD I will never see that WIDE smile again and still cannot believe I would ever say that. So grateful for a friend who was so sweet to take before surgery pictures of him! I for sure had lots of "buyers remorse" as I like to refer to it as being pregnant for the 4th time not sure If I would be wanting a 4th baby! I love this lil guy more than he will ever know!!!  Ok so his surgery was supposed to be a week ago  his surgeon (Dr. Beals) dad passed away and so the surgery was bumped to Saturday June 9 its hard to think he could be almost through with his  week of "hell" as  Ive been told! We along with so many other people are praying for a quick recovery! They will only be repairing the lip this go around all his stitches will be  dissolve-able but a few that will be taken out a week or so after surgery they are the anchor stitches! Im so nervous to hand him over for this surgery  which will take 2 hours and then we are sent home to care for him! Even just the thought of it I start to tear up knowing that he has to go through all this at such a young age I wish more than anything I could do it for him!
ImageImage
Loves to stick his whole hand in his mouth I think he is teething he is such a slobbery mess!
Image
He is all over the place rolling around and he loves to get up on all fours rock back and forth occasionally falling on his"punch in the nose" as Paisley refers to it as!
Image
we are hoping for good weather this weekend I think Sunday will be 100  he loves to be pushed in the stroller! So he won't pull at his stitches they splint is arms down( this sounds worse than what it is)and for a kid that only sleeps on his stomach this is gonna be rough.
ImageImage
(picture on the left) For sure not what he will look like after surgery but this picture always puts a smile on my face ( The Christmas story) and the "splints" are not what they sound like they actually call them 'no no's" and they look more like this (picture on the right)

Trigg 6 months!

Well there are 3 other kids Neil and I also get to worry about! SO because I have a lot to do in 2 days! Neil and I decided a year or so ago NO SPEND THE NIGHTS and since all of our time will be spent the get to have there spend the nights and for sure you would think they were all going to Disneyland they are soo excited and ask all the time when it is!!
Image
Trigg will  miss her while she is gone she is his entertainment we are worried she might be to rough with him! This is her sneaky in his bed in the middle of the night and waking him up just because she wanted to play with her "little buddy" she kept telling him " I will lay by you if you don't cry! Paisley is excited to go to Lyvis house and "Granna horse" (that is my mom and "Grandma Kitty" is Neils mom)
Image
Tate gets to go to Blakes and then to Lilas house to spend the night!
Image
Brennen is probably the MOST excited he gets to spend the night at Briants and Rylees house he is soo excited! Although out of the 3 he is the most concerned for Trigg! He wants to know about all the surgery's he has to go through and he always has a concerned look on his face! This month in the friend there was a story about a little girl with a cleft lip who was on her fourth surgery and was really scared to go in! so her Dad gave her a blessing ( thank you Sarah for telling me about it!) Brennen read it to us and I could tell it made him feel better about the situation!
Image

I still cannot believe how excepting they all where of Trigg! Not caring from day ONE what he looked like and they are always so excited to inform people on his looks they love him!

Trigg is 4 months! Life is soon to get busy! We are starting with tubes for his ears on May 4  he has had a total of 3 double ear infections. Babies who have clefts usually have problems with the ears. The Eustachian tubes of a cleft affected baby do not work right, and so the baby tends to have a lot of ear infections scheduled for June 1 it will take 2 1/2 hours and is out patient they will be repairing the lip!

Image

He is rolling and trying to army crawl all over the place! He has made his way of the bed twice his Mom should have figured this out the first time! So now since he can't roll off the bed we find him under the bed 90% of the time!

Image
Image
We finally found a bottle that he will take instead of the expensive one!  Its called the  platex drop-ins.
He is still only able to eat about 4oz every 4 hours.

This is the tape we use for Triggs lip! we have to cut it down so there for we find it everywhere! Places we have found it
stuck to my skirt at church, on Tate's underwear, Neils's tie, under my shoe, clothes that have been through the was I have a feeling we will be finding this tape all over the place for the next few years!

We then had a sprinkler day we used shaving cream and bubble bath They were so excited to have Briant and Max over!

I think the Easter bunny was trying to scale back this year! SO we wouldn't forget the true meaning! Lets just say the kids were not very excited about that!
