Looth Tooth

Image

This is the picture that showed up on my phone mid-afternoon today, so the title of the post isn't exactly accurate. If this had been written this morning, it would have been accurate, so I am going with it.

Anyway, Abby has been waiting for this day for 2 years.  She has been the only child in her class for at least 6 months that had yet to lose a tooth.  We have read loose tooth books, and we have examined her teeth countless times looking for that one to finally become loose.  So when she discovered her first real loose tooth a couple of weeks ago she was ecstatic and determined that it would fall out at school. DETERMINED!

In fact, she had me check her tooth Sunday night before bed.  Yes, it was loose but I thought to myself that she would probably still have all of her teeth in our vacation pictures this year.  Abby, though, had other plans.  According to her teacher, Mrs. Byerly, she arrived at school and immediately asked her to check it.  "It is not ready yet; it will hurt.  Maybe if you keep working on it..."  Abby apparently spent the remainder of the day obsessing over and wiggling the little critter.  By pure will (and swollen gums), it was loose enough to pull by the end of the day.  VICTORY!  She arrived home sporting a fancy little tooth necklace and a hole in her mouth.

Now to see if the tooth fairy shows up. Abby wrote her a note asking her to please leave her tooth.

**The tooth fairy did come, left $5 (first teeth are worth their weight in gold), and left the cutest ugliest little tooth you have ever seen.**

Abby"isms"

Me:  Do you want a banana with your breakfast this morning?
Abby:  YES!  You know I am eating like a coyote these days.

Me:  Would you like to go to Disney World someday?
Abby:  I don't even know all of the princesses' names...do I have to know their names?
Me:  No, you can go to Disney without knowing their names.
Abby: Okay, then yes.

"Dance" and Jazz

Image
If you ask Abby about her Monday night activities, she will tell you that she takes dance, jazz, and gymnastics.  But Abby...is jazz not dance and what about ballet?  "I know the difference!  I just call ballet, "dance.""  Okay.

Stretching is an important aspect of pre-class warm-up.  So is demonstrating your near ability to do the splits.  And apparently, so is flitting across the room as is demonstrated by the other little legs in the picture.

A final word: the outfit.  The final Monday of each month is designated as wear what you want as long as it is danceable.  Some girls never stray from their black and pink; some girls wear sparkly princess costumes; my girl searches her closet for the prime ensemble that is unique beyond unique...and not too tight.

Pinkalicious the Musical

Image
Abby and Chaney at Pinkalicious
Part of Abby's birthday gift from us was tickets to see Pinkalicious the Musical in Abilene.  The girls had a wonderful time playing in the car on the way, eating lunch at Olive Garden, watching the show, and then making their own pink ice cream (although neither actually chose pink) at Nikki's Swirl Shoppe afterwards.  The musical was really cute and the perfect length (about an hour) for kids.  My personal favorite part of the day was watching Abby mimic Pinkalicious's facial expressions and motions and her random commentary on set design.  Fun day!

Abby"isms"

While watching our Pipers play Anson the other day and waiting an incredibly long time to get the 3rd out to get us out of a painful inning, Abby observed, "Mama, trying to get the 3rd out is a lot like trying to roll a 6 with a dice. It takes forever!"  Amen!

After football and baseball games, I have always told Abby to, "Go get a leg," meaning to go grab Jeremy's leg as he finishes talking to the guys.  So the other day, she asked, "Can I go get ready to catch a leg?"

One might say something was horrible.  Abby would say it was "hordible!"
