| 17:30 - 18:00 | Adaptation, Not Translation: Locale Adaptation in the Age of LLMs In the age of the LLM-driven translation takeover, locale adaptation is often treated as an afterthought—left behind as the rest of localization moves forward. In this talk, I’ll walk through how we built and evaluated an LLM-based locale adaptation system, focusing on the hardest part of the work: creating high-quality datasets for prompt training. | 15:05 - 15:35 | Highs and lows of managing 2.5 million words through an AI-powered Git-based localization system While designing and building this highly technical localization program at GitLab, I orchestrated an AI-powered translation workflow processing over 2.5 million words through forked repositories, merge requests, and CI/CD pipelines. It solves a problem, whereby it allows writers to author content - using Markdown, but also make the docs interactive using code. Brilliant as it is for creating interactive documentation, it’s awful for localization. Very few TMSs properly support it - most treat MDX as simple Markdown, often leading to broken builds when translators accidentally edit code syntax.
