Today I was at the airport, again flying by myself to Vegas, I like to think that at this point I have turned into a savvy traveler. I've got my liquids and or gels in a ziplock baggy ready to quickly pull out to put in the gray tote. I purposely wear shoes that are easy to remove and put back on. I always pack my jacket so there's no worrying about removing and putting back on. Today I had a first though, After getting through security (smoothly I might add) I found that I had to go to the bathroom. With my purse slung on my shoulder and my carry-on in toe behind me I had to debate if I could hold it or if I'd have to go. I opted to go, the change in altitude tends to put a little too much pressure on my bladder and let's be honest airplane bathrooms with their silver bowls and bright blue water are only to be used in A) long flights and B) dire emergencies. Trying to look as savvy as possible I wheeled my carry-on into the bathroom, picking the furthest unoccupied stale (because Oprah taught me the closest stales get used the most) and walked in wheeling my bag behind me because I can't leave it "unattended". I turned and tried to close the door...BANG! the door hit my bag so hard that everyone glanced over their shoulders nonchalantly to check what the commotion could be, with my face heating up and turning a beautiful cherry red. I maneuvered my bag and was able to close the door. After letting my face cool and making sure it'd been long enough that the same people who witnessed the door incident were gone I creaked the door open slowly (because I didn't want to risk another loud crash) and walked to the sink pretending nothing had happened. I washed my hands and was headed out the door when I felt someone touch my arm and say "excuse me ma'am" I turned around surprised because avid travelers don't talk to others (or maybe that's just me) "you have some toilet paper stuck to your shoe". Again my face heated to a beautiful shade of cherry red, I thanked her and quickly removed the tissue. Next time I might be opting to hold it until my arrival.
