So we packed up on Thursday and headed to Blythe. The drive wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Blaise slept the first 4 hours and Rae was pretty angelic in the back seat. It was about 3 hours into the trip till we had to pull out the borrowed DVD player. We stopped for dinner about 130 miles outside of LA. Blaise pooed all over his outfit, and Rae threw about a dozen tantrums in the restaurant. We got back on the road and Rae went to sleep pretty quickly but Blaise kept spitting up and wanting to nurse. We stopped a few times at random exits and luckily Rae stayed asleep while I nursed Blaise. Then I spent the last 2 hours of the trip unbuckled and leaning over my seat trying to keep a pacifier in Blaise's mouth. But it only took us 12 hours! (Left at 1:30 in the afternoon, got to Blythe at 1:15 in the morning) It usually takes us 9 hours when things go perfectly. I was pretty achy from sitting in the cramped front seat, but we are here now and everything is great! The weather is really nice and the plan is for all of us to head out today for some fresh air. My sister, her husband and their 10 month old are coming today - Rae should enjoy that. And I'm going to see a friend that I haven't seen in like 4 years! Yay! Fun stuff - vacations are nice. :)

On Thursday night we all played in some leaves outside of our apartment...it was a lot of fun. All of the leaves from the sidewalks had been blown onto this one little patch of grass, so it was easy to pile them all up. We had a great pile, but then we realized that the camera had fallen out of Roy's pocket, so we had to scatter the leaves to find it...but we did find it...and here are some pictures we took!

BTW, Roy had his qualifying exam on Tuesday and he passed! I guess he just has to turn in some paperwork and pay a fee and then he will advance to candidacy! Hooray for that being out of the way. Oh, and of course Blaise is due in 8 days - I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and maybe I'll have made some progress or something. I'll keep everyone posted. As for now we are just trying to stay on top of our responsibilities and keep Rae happy until he comes to join us!

I don't have time to actually post much news - but check out the cute picture of Rae. Looking at her you'd think she was a nice, calm, mature little girl - ha. :)
Everything is all set for Blaise to arrive - whenever he would like to come is fine by me! My in-laws are coming tomorrow for Thanksgiving, so even our house is reasonably clean. That's all that's going on around here!

Bored at 8:30 in the morning? Yes, I am bored. We've been up for 2 hours and I'm tired of the daily routine. Rae likes to take it easy in the morning- watching cartoons, reading books, playing with her dollhouse - and she only wants me around for the occasional cuddle or story. I've ran out of things to do online (I did order myself some cute slippers from Amazon - that was fun). I'm trying to get Rae to go to Walmart with me so I can admire all of the things we can't afford. :) But she is pretty busy with her books right now. Ah ha - she just pooed, so now maybe she'll want to go. :)
Any ideas of something fun to do with a 2 year old (keep in mind I'm 8 months pregnant and don't have a husband available to go with us - and we're poor.) :)

Trunk-or-Treat at church Saturday night. Cutest little cowgirl I've ever seen! (BTW, there are bunch of holes in a dirt lot next to the parking lot at the church and Rae insists on playing in them everytime we go to church...that is what she is standing in)

"Don't mess with me daddy!"

Don't usually see a decent picture of myself!

Our pumpkins. The big one is an image of Rae - can you tell?

Fall Back!
Did you remember to turn back your clocks last night? I didn't. Luckily our VCR changes automatically and of course the computer does (but I never look at the clock on the computer). So I guess it's kinda nice to have gotten a good amount of sleep but still have a bunch of time to do stuff before church. And it's also nice to finally have some sunlight at 7 in the morning. (I hate getting up when it is still dark outside)
So not much is going on around here. Rae has had a bit of a cold but nothing too bad. Her coughing and congestion made her a bit uncomfortable at night so sleep hasn't been that great. But she seems to be getting over it and slept really well last night.
Roy is super busy with school. He is giving his first seminar talk on Wednesday. (Can you imagine Roy talking for 50 minutes?! I guess he can do it when math is involved!
Of course, he talks my ear off all the time.) Then Roy has his qualifying exam on Nov. 28th (so much for relaxing on Thanksgiving weekend!)
I'm trying to stay out of Roy's hair but there are so many things I want to get caught up on and done before Blaise comes! Only 6 weeks to go! I can't do everything too early because we don't have a ton of room to have everything set up. Roy still needs to move the computer so we have room for the bassinet next to the bed. And I really need to go through all of the clothes I've been given (I already know I have too many 0-3 month items) but I figure that's something I can do when I can hardly move at the end of the pregnancy! :)
Random thought: I cannot wait for Christmas! The Wiggles were just singing a bunch of Christmas songs (yes, I let Rae watch cartoons on Sunday morning) and I realized how much I enjoy this time of year. I LOVE the changes in the weather and I can't wait for some rain! I wasn't going to do any decorations this year, but I'm having second thoughts. (Putting up decorations might be something to take my mind off of being pregnant!) It's just such a pleasant time of year, and hopefully having a newborn will bring more joy to the season instead of too much stress! I'm like a kid - I'm just so excited!
Okay, sorry, this has been a very random post. I'll try to be better and blog at least once a week. I always have so many things I want to write about and then I never get around to it! And I'll post some Halloween pictures from last night's truck or treat soon...along with the upcoming Solano Park party...along with all the cute stuff Rae has been doing lately! Stay tuned. :)

All About Our Trip
We got back on Wednesday from a nice trip to Blythe and Las Vegas. The flight to Ontario was really good. We got to the airport with just enough time, but not too much time to spare, so Rae didn't have a chance to get bored. When we walked onto the airplane she stopped suddenly and said "no, no no mama" but I just picked her up and took her to her seat and she was fine. She was excited to buckle up and everything and when we started taking off she really realized that we were flying and got really excited. When we got to Ontario my dad was already there to pick us up and Rae was really happy to see him.

Rae and my dad
I think the "person" she was happiest to see was my parents' dog "Chica". As soon as we walked into the house Rae started going crazy for her and the cat "Eliza". Rae remembered EVERYTHING about my parents house. She remembered where the highchair used to be, the stuffed apples in a basket in the living room for decoration, the place out front where we set off fireworks, where the animals' food was - everything! It's so fun to see how much their minds develop in such a short amount of time. My cousin Cami came over the next day and I think Rae was surprised (but so happy) to see her. I don't think she realized Cami lived in the same place as my parents. (Cami came to visit Davis in August and Rae just fell in love with her)
Rae and Cami
On Monday we got up early and drove to Vegas (I won't even get going on that miserable drive!) Rae was thrilled to see Oma and settled into her house right away. We only had a short time there, but it was a nice trip. We got to go to the top of the Stratosphere - and that was pretty cool. And Rae was good on the flight home too (although we got to the aiport a bit too early and she got tired of waiting).

Walking to the Stratosphere (they live like 2 blocks from it) Opa, Oma, Rae and Gabi (Oma's sister visitng from Germany)
The best part of the trip? Riding down the escalator at the Sacramento airport when we got home...Roy was at the bottom and Rae just went crazy when she saw him. She kept grinning at him all day long. It was a sweet return. :) We are happy to be back together.
A few other things :
For some reason Rae started calling me "mommy" this morning. It literally happened overnight. It's cute though, and I prefer it to "mama".
I enjoyed the Enrichment Night last night. I didn't get a chance to go to Ross though. :( I went to Target though and got a toaster. We decided that since most of the toasting we do is bagels - we needed a toaster that you can actually fit the bagels into. But we didn't want to spend more than like 10 bucks on it and all the ones less than that had the same width of slots as the one we have. But I found one at Target for $10 that has super wide slots! I was very happy with my find. Now we just need to go to WinCo and get some bagels - yum!
Roy starts school this week. It's not that big of deal, because he is only taking one class (and it's just a class on being a TA, so there won't be homework). He is going to be a TA though, so he will have a discussion session to go to and then office hours. But he's not really going to be any busier than he was this summer...it's just going to force him to go to bed at a decent hour and get his butt out of the house everyday!
I think that is all for now! I tend to ramble on and on - sorry!

Oh yeah, and my mom made Rae this awesome dress up dress!

Random things....
Today Rae and I went to a yard sale and found a pair of skates for Rae! (And they were only a buck!) They are those kind that going over their shoes and are adjustable. They fit her pefectly on the smallest setting, so we will be able to use them for a long time. Rae loves them and is already figuring them out pretty well. We were going to take them for a spin when we got home but all of the paths around here are covered with sticks and leaves....which leads me into my next random tidbit:
It was sooo windy yesterday! Just in our apartment complex I saw at least 6 branches that had broken off and even a small tree that fell completley. There are leaves and branches and sticks everywhere. And I guess their was a fire in south Davis, so I woke up to the stench of smoke. We stayed inside most of the day, but in the evening it calmed down so we all went for a walk and Roy flew a kite for Rae. It was fun. The weather is much nicer today.
After the yard sale we walked over to the Farmer's Market and Rae rode the carousel. She expressed her enjoyment a lot more this time than she usually does, so that was fun for me to watch. Then we got some strawberries and a watermelon. We had a really nice morning and it all only cost 5 bucks (skates, carousel ride, watermelon and strawberries). And tonight I get to ditch the fam and leave early for a meeting and go to Ross and Walmart and Target - woot woot - and then get a free dinner and watch the General Relief Society Broadcast in peace! Happy day :)

I'm going to be in Blythe tomorrow. I'm flying into Ontario where my dad will pick us up and take us to Blythe. (He has a conference in Riverside.) And then on Sunday my mom will drive me to Vegas to see Roy's mom for a few days. (My mom will then continue on to Utah to see my brother.) And then I'll fly home from Vegas on Wednesday.
I've never had a problem with flying. I've never had a flight longer than 1 1/2 hours, so it has never been a big deal. Rae will get her own seat this time, so that will be an interesting change that will hopefully go well.
And so why am I a little tiny bit nervous this time? Don't laugh. :) For one, today is 9/11 and so I'm reminded of those "reasons" to be nervous, although it's not as if I think something will happen on a flight from Sac to Ontario. Another reason? I watched the movie Red Eye last week and got a bit spooked. But the week before that I watched Flightplan and got even more spooked.
None of these things are actually going to happen to me, and I'm not really all that nervous, but what a time to be watching movies like that! They are REALLY good movies, btw, you should check 'em out!
I'm excited about Blythe and Vegas...should be fun! Wish I could stay in Vegas one more day, but I have a few things I need to back in town for. And I wish I could go to Anaheim and see my sister-in-law for her bday, but I have even more things to be in town for at the end of the week. Anyway, I'll tell ya'll how the trip was when I get back!

What a nice morning. :) It's like 60 degrees out there! Rae and I just ate breakfast on the balcony and now we are going to go for a walk along the creek. (If I can pull her away from Jo Jo's Circus.) My allergies are bothering me a bit because it's windy outside, but I need to keep positive! I am determined to make this a good day - even if the huge stack of dishes never goes away!

Urgh - the Doodlebops on Playhouse Disney are so friggin' annoying. I can handle most of Rae's shows (in fact, I watch Wonderpets even when she doesn't!) but I cringe when the only thing on are the Doodlebops or Little Einsteins. I guess maybe I could take her outside or something, but apparently the combination of stupid "allergy capitol of the world" Davis and being pregnant give me really bad allergies. All the bleach I just used in the bathroom probably didn't help! Argh - I need a vacation from Davis...it's so blah right now.

Not much new going on around here. Rae hasn't been sleeping very well the past few days. She seems to have lots of weird dreams. Last night she wouldn't get back into bed because she thought there was bird poop in her bed. (There's a swing at the playground that has had bird poop in it for a couple of months - Rae points it out as soon as we get to the playground everytime....I guess that is what got her thinking about that). I finally convinced her that there wasn't any poop, and I got into bed with her. She woke up a few more times after that and always seemed very concerned about something. I hope this is just a stage, because I've been letting her sleep with us all week, and I don't want it to become too bad of a habit. I don't really mind her sleeping with us, but she was doing really well all on her own, and we were all happier. :) Everytime she goes through a difficult sleeping stage I just let it run it's course and see what happens, and so far so good....so I hope it goes well this time. Anyway, for now I'm just taking naps everyday and not getting much housework done - but we are all having fun, so that's is all that matters!

Today I was telling Rae that my tummy was going to get bigger and bigger. She repsonded that her boobies would get bigger, and her butt, and her tummy. She is absolutly right, but strange for her to say. It was cute though. She is really into boobies right now. Yesterday her friend came over and gave her a late b-day present - it was a teddy bear with a bunch of different outfits. Well, I was putting the bikini swimsuit on the bear, and Rae was quick to point out the bears boobies once I had put the top on. At least she doesn't point them out on strangers or anything.
Anyway, things are going good for us. Rae is sleeping really well and is pretty agreeable during the day. She has become a bit of a bully with a few of her friends, but we are trying hard to nip it in the bud...hopefully it doesn't much beyond this stange. Blaise is constantly turning somersaults in my tummers. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon...haven't been weighed in a while, hope it isn't too bad :) Roy has actually started doing some work for his professor, so I'm realizing how easy I've had it all summer until now.
Hopefully I'll figure out the whole picture posting soon (on my own so I don't have to bug Roy) And I'll try to keep my posts less random and rambling.

So I created this blog quite a while ago, and now I am actually writing something. I read the blogs of a few friends and always think "I need somewhere to clear my mind"...so I'll try this for a while. I'm not sure if anyone will find it very interesting, and I'm sure my grammar and spelling will bug a lot of people, but oh well. Maybe my siblings or mom will read it occasionally and get to hear all the day to day stuff that I can't as easy express on the phone in an hour once a week. So anyway, that's what I plan to do...stay tuned.
