For our next release we are super happy to welcome Pete Blaker to the label. For those in the know Pete’s name will be instantly recognisable thanks to the collection of edits he has produced over the years and that have been played regularly by the likes of Harvey and Artwork. Additionally from his fantastic releases, edits and remixes on Hot Biscuits, Music For Dreams, Citizens Of Vice and Balearic Blah Blah. 

Flying 1992 is the name of this EP and it features one original from Pete and another from his ‘Pleon’ alias where he works with longtime musical cohort Leon Rey.

You can definitely file this one in the ‘Balearic’ folder and it is one that will be played from sundown to sunup.

Pete knew who he wanted to remix both tracks and fortunately for us both artists agreed. Bali based Gold Suite remixes ‘Flying 1992’ and fellow Dutchman ‘Love Over Entropy’ remixes the excellently named ‘Tudududu’.

'Do It Like That” is the result of the collaboration between Portuguese virtuosos Ramboiage and C4STRO and comes packed with a refreshing last-days-of-sunshine atmosphere. On the remix duty, none other than label mate 'Gus Paterson', with a splendid take on the track.

This is not Gus Paterson’s first rodeo on Citizens. His previous EPs, “Regole Di Terzi” and “Neritic”, turned the secretive London-based producer into one of the favourite artists of the acclaimed French label.

While Ramboiage & C4STRO’s original distils its magic through 122 BPM, on Gus’s hands “Do It Like That” now shines on delicious 116 and 119 beats per minute. Premiered here, the “Shake” interpretation comes with a more upbeat gait delivered by a frenzied concoction of piano and synth layers topped with frolic laser-like FXs.

Bálint Forgács AKA BAL 5000 started out producing drum & bass, but that was a long time ago now. These days he's ploughing a much more eclectic and distinctive furrow that he rather eloquently describes as "retro-futuristic spaced-out house, mixed with lost in the desert psychedelia". In practice, that means 'The Lake' is an understated, unhurried affair sitting somewhere between Balearica, deep prog and downtempo electronica in its original form, before being given a couple of predictably fine dancefloor rerubs courtesy of Balearic disco don Pete 'Reverso 68' Herbert, while bonus cuts 'Untitled Acid' and 'Untitled Electro' shouldn't really need any further explanation!

PREMIERE821 // Gold Suite - Coast Along

Citizens of Vice proudly return with release number 60 — a record that’s been in the works for quite some time. This latest EP comes from Bali-based DJ/live outfit Gold Suite, marking a fresh shift in their sound and style. We’ll let Gold Suite tell you more about it below.

These two tunes were written back in January, when after a busy December of night-time DJ gigs, we were really needing to sink our teeth into something other than house and disco in the January downtime.

I started to get interested in '70s library music, loving the idea that these tunes were thrust into existence in a matter of hours, to then take on a new, long life as a fundamental part of something bigger. I had in my mind the idea of composing incidental music for a resort that was lost in time.

Laura was learning to play the bass guitar at the time so we got to it.

'Analog Swell' was recorded very quickly, originally with a drum machine that was later replaced with a mono drum kit. 'Coast Along' came later, and was the first Gold Suite recording with vocals. This felt like a real turning point, as these simple compositions could suddenly become so much more evocative.

Simple, no frills, and mixable if you really want to. We hope you enjoy them.

A warm welcome back to Bali-based Joey Fitzgerald, a Balearic-minded producer whose last outing of note appeared on Phil Cooper's Ibiza-based NuNorthern Soul imprint way back in 2022. For this outing on Citizens of Vice, he delivers two fresh cuts, each accompanied by a stellar remix. Of the former, opener 'Coast Along' is simply gorgeous, with sun-bright guitar motifs, glassy-eyed vocals and detailed percussion rising above lolloping beats and a warming bassline, while 'Analog Swell' is a jazz guitar-laden Balearic dub disco shuffler of epic proportions. Idjut Boys member Dan Tyler does a good job in stretching out, dubbing out and lightly reframing 'Coast Along' for the dancefloor, while Sheffielder Yarni delivers a deliciously slow-motion, effects-laden Balearic dub revision of 'Analog Swell'. Simply perfect.

A producer returns to a label that feels like home. Citizens Of Vice and Bal 5000 extend their conversation into a second round, proof that the first was no accident. The “Bukit Days” EP carries salt and dusk. It breathes air from a latitude where days are measured in tide lines and the transition from daylight to neon is barely perceptible. Bal writes from inside his surroundings, years of immersion pressed into each groove. Dawn light on empty lineups. The specific weight of humidity at golden hour. Nights where the boundary between beach bar and dancefloor quietly dissolves. These are frequencies earned through residence, muscle memory translated directly into rhythm. No souvenirs. No postcards. Just the unhurried confidence of an artist who belongs exactly where he stands.

Premiered here, the title track moves with the steady authority of a sun settled low and gold. Its gait is measured, deliberate – never rushing, never grasping. Synth leads unfurl in warm, lustrous ribbons, weaving through deep chord structures that breathe like a steady, contented pulse. There is sensuality here, but not of the urgent kind. It is the slow, assured sensuality of skin against warm sand, of a drink sweating in soft lamplight. This music does not demand the floor at its most frenzied. It claims the hours before and after: the terrace at twilight, the walk home when the air has finally cooled, the beautiful space between anticipation and release. A theme not for peak time, but for the time that matters more.

PREMIERE : From Beyond - Anyone Want It

Alex Wastnidge brings his From Beyond project to Citizens of Vice with the “Centres Of Experience” EP, marking the East London producer's first appearance for the imprint. Since 2018, his output has touched Paper Recordings, Sprechen, Evil Plans, Boite Music, NEIN, and Golden Soul, just to name a few, each release adding to a catalogue defined by spaced-out, acidic nu-disco with roots planted firmly in the 1980s. Electro-funk's glide, Italo's melodic pull, and synth-pop's structural clarity all surface across his work, though never as mere quotation – Wastnidge filters these influences through a contemporary lens, building something that looks forward while acknowledging what came before. A relatively new name, but one that has already earned its place in the conversation.

Premiered here, the title track operates on a principle of controlled tension. A bassline of Italo extraction drives things forward with blunt, unfussy authority, while the drums land with the dry, present crack of a mid-eighties studio floor. Above this foundation, spoken fragments drift through layers of delay, their meaning secondary to their weight as texture. Synth motifs rise and fall like signals from a distant transmitter, each one treated with enough echo to feel both present and remote. The track never rushes, never clutters – just holds its course with the quiet confidence of something built to last the night.

London’s Gus Paterson returns to Citizens Of Vice, adding a new three‑track parcel to a discography that already includes solid appearances on Bordello a Parigi and Solar Phenomena Music. The “Playing Games” EP features two damn-good originals and one oh-yeah-baby remix by Dan Idjut. As usual, Paterson deals in a sun‑touched strain of House Music – the kind you'd cue up when the afternoon is still young and the pool is the main attraction, or the terrace is still catching the last warm rays. No peak‑time bombs here, just steady, confident grooves that know how to ease a room into its evening without ever pushing too hard.

"No More" sits at 110 BPM, a pace that encourages a slow shoulder roll rather than a sprint – a gentle shift of weight from foot to foot. Piano chords float in with a lazy, inviting feel, while the percussion keeps a quiet, steady chatter underneath. A few vocal hooks peek through now and then – nothing pushy, just enough to catch your ear and linger for a moment. Synths drift in and out like clouds, adding colour without clutter. The Citizen’s of Vice collective welcomes brand new collaborative production and live act, Paper Street Soul for a fresh three tracker.

UK nu disco projects Cuz Electric (Rich Hall, Megan Jones) and Slync (Ian Stanford) make up this new outfit and bring disco, boogie, funk, soul, jazz, house and more to their grooves. With classy vocals, live instrumentation and years of expertise they are an act very much to watch.

Dreamt up in deepest darkest West Midlands, this EP came together over a couple of months. Collaborating over the ether, the trio have combined live guitars, bass, percussion and analogue hardware with a modern electronic edge.

Opener ‘Fallin Down’ is a supersized cut with huge disco licks and diva vocals all complimented with big keys. It’s joyous and timeless and sure to get hands in the air. The equally excellent ‘Always (On My Mind)’ has cosmic pads and laser-like chords with plenty of echo and effects all making it a retro-future gem. Closing out the package is the smooth and seductive ‘Moonpig’ with its deep drums and cooing vocals, trilling Balearic riffs and soul infused grooves.

This is a brilliant breakout debut EP from this super-hot new disco group.
