Pheanir's NewMix: "The Grand Master Magician Imp"

Theme for stage 5 boss of the 7th installment of the NavahniProject, "Perfect Infiltration" (PI).
With a certain character in mind, I wanted to find out how far I could take the piano with this. I needed something that I could use to display a flurry of things coming together, like grains of sand swirling around in a sandstorm. I am satisfied with the theme itself, but I think that remixing it in a more "serious-sounding" way would do wonders to it.
(Also, it was Suwako's theme from the Touhou Project which inspired me to compose this.)

IC-Remix of Momoyo Himemushi's theme (TH18, Dentiz style)

I have the original piece stuck in my head occasionally, so I wanted to see where I can get with remixing it in CEoMI's style. I was pleasantly surprised how well the overall instrumentation worked with the main melodies. I tried sticking close(r) to the original track but put in some tiiiny things of my own in here and there.

Uka's theme stood out to me as soon as I watched a playthrough of this fangame. I remember that I tried to create a piano cover of this track in the past but it lacked a lot of refinement and side melodies.
I tried to stick close to the original while adding some of the "PI-flavor" (pun intended) to it. I hope I did an okay job.

CEoMI-Mix Of Suwako Moriya's Theme (TH10, full Version)

While browsing through my older compositions and remixes, I stumbled across this theme again. Yumemi's theme is one of the most epic tracks from the Touhou games in my opinion, especially after experiencing her bossfight in the original game firsthand. In comparison to the newer Touhou pieces, this one is fairly simplistic, but considering the game and the moment it plays in, it really fits, I think.
So, when I listened to some of the older remix attempts of mine for this theme, I thought I could give it a try with a newer style. And since it's not that complicated of a theme, I was able to finish this in a very short amount of time. I think the instruments really fit. ♪

I recently watched a music theory video about some of the tracks from the original 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3' and 'Sonic and Knuckles' games and decided that I wanted to give remixing these tracks a try. I tried sticking very close to the original tunes, but gave it some minor tweaks here and there. "Flying Battery Zone" is BY FAR my favorite part from the game, music wise.

MP-Remix of Ichirin Kumoi's theme (TH12, full version)

This is the 2nd version of my remix for Ichirin's theme. ♪


The concept for my music project "Money's Power" (and remixes in its style) is inspired by the soundtrack from the 13th Touhou game, where most of the tracks have a second 'trance mode version'. More bass and rapid single notes to accentuate the key and foundation for the melodies, less emphasis on drums/percussion.

The idea I had was this: if the music from my project was bgm for a versus-shooter-game, like Touhou 9/19, the player could collect "money items" while the boss fight goes on. Collecting those fills a meter/gauge, when filled, the gauge can be used to temporarily (like, 10 seconds) transform the screen into a cyberspace-esque environment, where movements and bullets are faster and the patterns more dense -- for the opponent. Idk how a concept like this would do, but I find it intriguing at least. And musically definitely interesting enough to try this concept. =)

Uwabami Breakers ~ Festiv-al-colohically (Remix)

Mikoto Yaobi's theme from the Touhou fangame "Marine Benefit" (Touhou Kaikeidou) in the style of my latest/newest music project "Waterworld Arcadia" (WA).

Gosh, this theme sticks out from the game. Besides Megumi's theme from the game, this one is easily the one I wanted to remix the most. I actually tried doing that a few years ago already, but it never turned out quite right, at least until now. The most challenging part of her theme, BY FAR, was figuring out the melody of the piano solo part as well as the rapid harp sounds; but that was expected.
Also, this is the very first "video" I created with a new setup. I hope it shows at least a little. And in fashion of my project WA, this track will play two loops for you to enjoy!

Yet another theme from this old Touhou fangame which I wanted to make a cover for. I've found this theme very energetic and upbeat to listen to ever since I first listened to it. And yes, this is a valid remix. There exist two versions of the OST from this fanmade game, this remix focuses on the original version of her theme. I am aware that there is an updated version of it, which sounds different, but I prefer this older original. It's also easier to remix, imo.

WA-Remix of Naruko Uzushima's theme (TH Marine Benefit, fangame, full version)

I recently "stumbled" over the older original song in my feed and listened to it. I thought: maybe I should remix this in the style of my most current project? And because it's such a short theme, it was quite easy to do that in a short amount of time.
Also, for recording this video, I switched back to MIDIFall, because MidiTrail was having issues rendering notes for some bizarre reason, which made some parts look very broken with huge gaps. :/

To be honest, both Oliver and Lucino have changed a bit since their debut it CEoMI. Not a lot, really, but enough to point it out. I still haven't gotten to fleshing the world out around them and my other original characters, but at least in terms of music I'm making some progress that I can share. Maybe I should draw them more again? We'll see.

WA-Mix of Oliver's & Lucino's theme (NavPro 3, CEoMI)

Kasumi Shindou's theme from the Touhou fangame "Marine Benefit" (Touhou Kaikeidou) in the style of my latest/newest music project "Waterworld Arcadia" (WA).

This theme was not as difficult to recreate as I thought it would be. The only real challenge was to try and figure out the rapid notes from the synth which plays at the last part. I tried my best to put together a 'background solo' that comes close to what the original is like. By the way, I'm quite sure the little break at the end (before it loops back) isn't on purpose from the recording that I used to recreate the piece, but I think it adds a nice flair to it, so I kept it in the remix. ;D

WA-Remix of Kasumi Shindou's theme (TH Marine Benefit, fan game, full version)

Working on my current project "Waterworld Arcadia" (WA), I decided that I wanted to include at least some of the protagonists' themes in this project as well. 

Samanta, who this theme was originally composed for, is one of my maaany original characters; she was actually conceptualized as the last stage boss of my first music project AToEM, which I composed back in 2016. Supposedly, Samanta and another of my OCs, Gabriella (from my project UF), are working together as a team in WA's story, but I didn't want to think of a piece that combined both Samanta's and Gabriella's theme songs. I believe that was a good decision, because the power of this composition here speaks for itself, in my opinion. I might tend to Gabriella's theme in the future as well, but I won't make any promises.
Whenever I look back to themes I composed in the beginning of my composing hobby, I feel like I should somewhat go back to those roots. Motifs and melodies seem much more graspable and simpler and thus easier to remember and tinker with. Fittingly, I finished this remix in only two days. =)

Oh, and just as a little teaser, for those interested:
This project has 4 protagonist teams, each with two of my OCs in them. By the time of this upload, only two teams have been revealed so far (Oliver & Lucino, Gabriella & Samanta). So, stay tuned for more! ♥

WA-Mix of Samanta Falschschatten's theme (NavPro 1, AToEM)

Probably my favorite theme from the game. I really like 5/4-times anyway and I had the basis lying around from when I remixed this piece in the style of my project "PI". However, this time, with the full version, the tricky part was actually re-modelling the last part, which is played in a 4/4 time signature. In the original, there are a lot of 'side-notes' (pun, LOL) played by an overdriven guitar synth, which I needed to translate into the style of my project WA somehow. I chose to go with harp and harpsichord sounds combined, played in a low tone. It sounds kind of wonky, but I believe that's alright. The whole piece in itself is an experience already.  :D

Lore:
This is the theme song I put together for 'Yaxzivio Merko', one of my original characters from the NavahniProject series. In this 'world', he is a faithful follower of a cult called the Black Ice Cult (or BIC for short) and had been causing trouble as one of the lead followers back in my music project 'UF' as the stage 5 boss already. Not only is he almost fanatically into the cult and its ideals, but this frog man is also quite capable... and dangerous.

Since this musical project is water themed and I wanted to include original characters from past projects in it, I first looked for some of the pieces I composed in the past. Yaxzivio's theme from my past project UF stood out to me while I browsed through my files, so I decided to somewhat compress the theme into its main parts. I wanted to really underline the lunatic, creepy, yet energetic vibe Yaxzivio resembles, with very high accompanying notes and very pervasive bass lines. Also, I use a "very special instrument" in this project, which I think gives the whole atmosphere these tracks create a nice, personal touch. ♪
(It's also a more 'compact' version of the original theme I released/composed in 2021.)

WA_03: Black Ice Spikes

Stage 4 theme for the 9th installment of the NavahniProject, "Waterworld Arcadia".
"Traveling through deep waters at high speeds isn't something we normally do, but at least we know our destination in this case. It's unbelievable that our next target is actually someone who is politically important..."


Lore:
This is the track I composed for stage 4 of this journey. We don't know it yet, but we've almost reached the halfway point of this investigation. Thanks to the tips from the lil' guy we encountered earlier, our path leads us through an astonishing underwater city, a vast county of glass, polished metals and glowing veins that stem from who knows where. But as we continue, the beautiful sights don't diminish the feeling that something isn't quite right... or real for that matter.

To be honest, there isn't much to say about this track except that I got highly inspired by some retro techno I listened to recently before I got to composing. I also wanted to create something fast-paced that could describe a high-speed journey; imagine us going through water like a torpedo or something. I'm also surprisingly satisfied with how well the rapid overdrive guitar notes fit this piece. ♪

WA_08: Thick Blue

Stage 8 theme for the 9th installment of the NavahniProject, "Waterworld Arcadia".
"This place is monumental and majestic, but something feels CLEARLY off here. I believe we are close to the source of the problem."


Lore:
I composed this piece for stage 8, the final stage of the story this project tells. An eerily majestic-looking underwater temple in the depths of the ocean, but with a certain bravado to the atmosphere it emits... that's the final place of our investigation, it seems. It's not surprising, considering all the prior encounters and the intel we got through them. This cult we are dealing with certainly seems much more impactful than we first estimated, especially considering all the underlings that are trying to stop us from entering this supposed sanctuary of theirs. Welp, it cannot be helped, we've got to force our entry!

Interestingly, I was able to finish composing this piece over the span of three days. By coincidence I stumbled across the motif playing in rapid notes from the start in a video (I got inspired by this: https://youtu.be/OjEUM0mj0hU?si=3o40Yt9E6jLOYaml&t=20 ) and I thought that this would be ideal to introduce an ominous, mysterious and dark place. It does transform into something much more melodic quickly, but goes back to the ominous vibes shortly after to connect the first and second half of the theme. The chromatic-ness of these parts easily allowed me to link them together, as well as the loop back to the beginning, which I find really relieving; I've been having trouble with that a lot during this project, as you can hear in some of its tracks.

WA_16: Blacked and Iced

Another old theme song in the style of my personal music project "Waterworld Arcadia" (WA).
During the recording I ran into problems with MIDIFall and the OpenShot Editor, so, unfortunately, I don't have the MIDI notes available for this one. Sorry. :(

Maria's theme isn't part of the WA album, but I wanted to create something for myself and give that particular piece some love. It is one of the most dramatic/sad sounding themes I have composed so far - at least in my opinion. During the last part, I also added some repeated notes to somewhat 'simulate' the sound of a siren.

Tinkering with this soundfont turned out to be quite fun for me, so I thought I'd give it another go with another theme that I really like. This time, it's from a game series called the "Len'en project". It's similar to Touhou, but I only have a hand full of themes from these games that I find decent.

Remix: Tsurubami Senri's theme (Sonic 3 & Knuckles soundfont)

I was searching for some remixes of SM64 music and stumbled upon one that used the infamous 'fake Touhou-font'. That was inspiration enough for me to give it a try myself. Yes, the chords are not 100 % accurate and yes, it's because it's a remix.  :P
I also felt energetic enough to make a little icon for the music upload.  ♪

I always loved this particular theme, so I wanted to remake it in my own way. I also put some sort of a bridge in it to give it some individuality.

It was about time that I gave this a shot and I am partially surprised at myself for not doing this sooner. I have grown to like the instrumental setup for my project CEoMI, so I thought that I needed to remix this theme in my style. Among the OST from the Len'en Project, this is one of (maybe) 3 or 4 themes that I actually like to listen to.

This remix is an actual 'remix' and doesn't follow the original as close as my other rearranges, except for its motifs.
