Last Day of Kindergarten

Today was Kent III's last day of Kindergarten. He was only in class for 45 minutes so, instead of dropping him off and coming back almost immediately, I left Dragon at home with his sisters and just stayed with Kent III at school.

Kent III's class gathered on the rug and Mrs. Sumsion read them a story.

Then each child got a juice box and went outside by the flagpole to met up with the rest of the students of the school for one last chorus of the school song with the principal before being dismissed for the summer.

Kent III loved Kindergarten, his teachers and his classmates! He had a wonderful year and is looking forward to 1st grade in the fall. :)

Things That Go Bump

This week's craft at the Provo Library was monster masks!

We got there five minutes before it was over, so the boys didn't get to really complete their masks before we had to leave. But at least they got the masks and we can always finish them at home! :)

Fly Away, Firefly

This summer there are free make and take crafts at the Provo Library every Tuesday and Thursday, 10am - 12pm, for children ages 0-12. (The craft is different each week, but the same craft is made each Tues/Thurs of the week.) I am attempting to do more activities this summer so have committed to taking the boys down each week to do a craft. The timing works out great with summer Seminary on Tuesdays from 11-12. When the girls are here, I can drop them off at seminary and then take the boys down to make crafts. We will have plenty of time to make the craft and be back in time to pick up the girls at 12. :) Perfect!

This week's craft was bug jars. :)

She did it!

Savannah did it! She got her learner's permit. :) It took her 5 tries and we had to visit the DMV almost every day this week (you can only take the test twice in a day and she wanted time to study between tests so we didn't always make it back for the second try in a day), but she did it! I am very excited for her as she takes this life altering step in her life. :)

This is what happens...

...when Mom is too busy throwing up in the bathroom to pay attention to the toddler. :)

I certainly wouldn't have chosen Valentine's Day as the day to get a stomach bug, but really, is there ever a good day to get a stomach bug? :)

And just in case you were wondering... No, I am not pregnant. ;) :)

This is why...

...I check on my babies while they sleep. :)

His legs slid easily out of the bars so I don't think he was stuck.  Still... I wouldn't have thought that that was a comfy way to sleep. :)

Sunday Best

Kent III got a haircut yesterday and he looked so spiffy today after he was dressed for church, I just had to snap a few pictures. :)

After Kent III moved away from the door, Dragon came over and stood where his big brother had been.
Guess he wanted his picture taken too...  Of course, I obliged. ;) :)

"Is my hair ok?"

Then Dad (Kent) added his sunglasses and Dragon was almost too cool for church. :)

Ahhh... my boys!  So cute!  And they bring such joy to my life!

The Happy Couple

Last week, my niece posted the following status on facebook:

"My X-Box 360 is gettin' married!
She was proposed to with the Red Ring! Hooray! And she timed this wedding so perfectly, just two days after I bought Gear of War 3! Yay for technology! I freakin LOVE it...!"

Haha :)

My brother and his family were going out of town so I was asked to take her X-Box to the repair shop here in town.  (At the same time, I also dropped off their second X-Box for repairs because the cd-rom was sticking.)

It so happened I picked up the X-Boxes when they were finished being repaired but before I returned the game consoles I snapped a picture to text to her.

Tee hee hee! :) :) :)

I make my own fun. :)

Catching Snowflakes

It started to snow tonight and as we stood on the front porch watching it, the boys kept trying to catch snowflakes. :)

Sole/Ensemble

As part of Savannah's orchestra grade she had to participate in the state's Solo/Ensemble competition today.  She chose a duet piece that would showcase her viola skills with a piano accompaniment.  For weeks she practiced and agonized and practiced some more.  After it was over she said, "All that stress for two minutes of playing?!"  Alas, yes. :)  Perhaps there is a lesson somewhere in all this. :)

Below is a picture of my sweet girl with her Aunt Lisa who was kind enough to accompany her.  Such big smiles because the picture was taken after it was all over. Ha! :)

Sunrises

Kent usually takes Savannah to school since there really isn't a bus she can take to the high school and it is on his way to either school or work. This semester Kent has a 7:00 am class so I am taking Savannah to school. One of the advantages to being out and about that early is getting to see the sunrise. :)

Image

Image

A few minutes after I took these pictures the clouds moved in and the sky was grey for the rest of the day.  At least I got to see a beautiful sunrise and a little bit of blue during the day. :) (See how being outside the house so early can have advantages? :))

And sunrises seen at 7:15 in the morning mean the days are getting longer and Spring is on it's way. :)

Nap Time

While Dragon and I were sorting laundry in the family room, Drae kept trying to pull off his clothes. I finally gave in and took them off him, thinking it wouldn't hurt anything for him to be in just his diaper for a few minutes.  I had to take some folded clothes upstairs to put them away and when I returned it was to the following:

 Haha! :)

Guess when you're finally comfortable and tired, any little spot will do for nap time. :)

Brian Regan

One of Savannah's gifts at Christmas was two tickets to see the comedian Brian Regan live in Salt Lake City.  Tonight was the night for her to use those tickets and I was the lucky one she chose to go with her to the performance. :) :) :)

Image

Along with the tickets was a dinner certificate for her, and the person she took with her, to dine wherever she wanted.  She picked Olive Garden. :)  A nice coincidence is that there is an Olive Garden two blocks from the hall where Brian Regan was performing.

Savannah had a lot of homework she wanted to get done so we left for Salt Lake much later then I wanted to.  A light rain was also falling which seemed to make all the drivers in Utah seem to forgot how to drive (traffic was terrible just to get on the freeway, let alone how backed up in was on the freeway, so we took a route through the towns until we saw the freeway moving better).  We hurried (safely) to Salt Lake and were able to park and get to olive Garden 40 minutes before the performance started.

I mentioned to the host that we were in hurry since we were on our way to Brian Regan.  He didn't even know who Brian Regan was! :) I was very surprised that someone from a restaurant two blocks from a venue that was hosting Brian Regan for 10 shows had never even heard of him.  I would think someone in his position would know major things like that going on in downtown Salt Lake.

When we were finally seated, we told the waitress we were in a BIG hurry.  She quickly got our order and rushed it through the kitchen.  We got our entrees in a record 7 minutes!  (Don't worry, I left that awesome waitress a very nice tip! :))

Savannah and I ate as quickly as we could while still trying to taste our yummy food.  Before going to the hall we dropped off our leftovers in the van.  We got to the hall only a few minutes before the performance started but we were there before it started.  Phew! :)

By pure coincidence Kent's cousin Kiera was sitting in the seat right next to me!  What a fun surprise!  She is from Southern California, is attending BYU Idaho and was visiting her boyfriend who lives in Orem who got tickets for them to the performance in Salt Lake!  What a small world. :)

Image

The opening comedian was Joe Bolster. (http://www.joebolster.com/)  He was pretty funny and we enjoyed all his jokes. :)

Joe performed for about 1/2 an hour then Brian Regan came out.

Brian was awesome!!!  Seriously, we laughed for almost the entire hour and a half!  Brian even did a 15 minute encore after his main show. :)

Not the best pictures but proof that we were there. :)

And I dared to even take a few moments of video. :)  Before this small clip he was talking about the scientists that sent a rover to Mars.

After the show we drove home and on our way we stopped for ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. :)

It was so much fun to get to spend the evening with Savannah.  She is such an amazing young woman; fun, witty, intelligent.  I really had a super enjoyable time with her!!!
