If you haven't already, read the MakeHarvard Maker Guide-- the guide is your most important tool this weekend. With that said, get making! This year’s event is virtual, but we’re going to make the best of it.
Eligibility
Participants must be current university students in any undergraduate or graduate program.
We do not filter our applications based on prior experience. Our team will look at applications on an individual basis and make careful decisions on how to make MakeHarvard a great experience for all. Think of MakeHarvard as an opportunity to meet people of all engineering experience levels!
Requirements
To qualify your project for judging, you must submit the following information through Devpost.
- Team name
- Team member names
- Gather.town table number
- Judging categories you would like to enter (ex: Best Design, Best Pitch, etc.). See the Prizes section!
- 200-word description of your project
- 1-2min informational video
Prizes
Best Design
The most elegant, feasible, and deeply-described hardware design. We want to know that, if this was built, it would definitely work. Design submissions can include tests in simulation and accompanying software.
Prize: Apple iPad
Best Pitch
The idea with the most compelling pitch. Prototype design/implementation is not required for this category. Submit your pitch video to devpost.
Prize: Amazon Alexa
Best Software Component
Best software for functional integration with hardware. Standalone software projects can also participate in this category, but hardware-related projects are strongly encouraged.
Prize: Oculus Quest 2
Best Hardware Prototype
The most functional, elegant, and impressive physical implementation, using personal hardware (MakeHarvard will not be providing hardware for this category). Participation in this category disqualifies teams from entering in the Hardware Finals, and reimbursements requests will not be considered. Judging will keep in mind the limitations put in place by the virtual format-- do your best and get creative!

Hardware Finals
Teams without hardware who enter the Best Design category and prepare a specific list of materials required to build their design can be considered for the Hardware Finals. The top 10 design teams who enter this category will be reimbursed for materials used to build their project, and will be judged again 2 weeks later on their builds for more prizes.
