I don't remember where I got this idea, but it's pretty dang brilliant. I found a pack of pipe cleaners in the dollar spot at Target yesterday. So, this morning, I put Bronson to work with a colander. He occupied himself for a good hour and a half.

Halloween 2011
Here is the obligatory Halloween costume post.
We found Garrett a sweatsuit at Walmart and bought it a size bigger than he needed, so we should be good for next year, too. Bronson wore his Marine uniform to our church party last weekend, but decided to wear his karate uniform for Trick or Treating. Oma and Daddy took them around the block. Garrett lasted about half an hour before Daddy brought him home.

Steve Jobs and his "something wonderful"
When I learned that Steve Jobs passed away last night, I didn't really react. It was kind of a "oh, sad" moment and that was all.
"Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me.… Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful—that’s what matters to me." Steve Jobs

Grill Master
On Sunday, I was craving carne asada.
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/3 cup lime juice
1/3 cup orange juice
1 cup water
2 tablespoons peeled fresh garlic - crushed (I pressed 2 large cloves)
1 tablespoons white pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder (I used 1/2 tsp chipotle powder)
1 tablespoon Mexican oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (omitted)
1/2 orange, sliced
1/4 bunch cilantro, chopped (I used 1 Tbsp dried cilantro)Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk to combine.
To use with beef, place beef in gallon sized freezer bag or in the bottom of a shallow baking dish
Pour carne asada marinade on top of beef, cover dish or close bag, and marinate for at least 1 hour (more is better) before grilling
It made some pretty yummy tacos.
