MAMP PRO für Mac

I've replaced MAMP with Local by Flywheel, that is free, supports https and can be adjusted in many ways, for quick tests and also with Docker, for development. I'm sure that for certain developers MAMP Pro is a solution. It's not for me. But it was great when there wasn't much else.

Pretty unbelievable. You load 6.7 and run the "check for updates" and it tells you you have the latest version.

I have used MAMP PRO for some years. Upgrade to 6.0 only got up and running after several sessions with support. And then I puchased NAMO to get rid of the xip.io concept. I did never get it to work, no support and my MAMP PRO installation is now loocked: If I try to reinstall MAMP PRO it is not allowed. If I try to uninstall it is not allowed. MAMP PRO: Rest in peace. I have spent too much time installing, reinstalling, uninstalling, communicating with support etc.

This app is supposed to help you save time but it doesn't. It's buggy and every upgrade is a nightmare. Don't waste your money and do things by hand, you'll be better off.

After using MAMP PRO for at least the past nine years -- since 0.9.x.x. -- I have finally had enough. Everything was fine until they began making major changes around 5.7.0; changes so significant, that I had one problem after another, and one headache after another. It wouldn't be so bad if Appsolute provided adequate tech support via email, but they don't. It is very sporadic, and the solutions they do provide -- if any -- don't always work. But what irks me the most, aside from the dismal support, is the way they try to force us to do things THEIR way, leaving us no choice in the matter. Now I see that they have jacked up the price of a new 6.0 installation by $30.00. Thanks, but no thanks. MAMP PRO served me well for years, but three weeks ago, I decided to switch to Abyss Web Server. The difference is like night from day, and, Aprelium provides excellent email support. Also, the Pro version of Abyss Web Server -- called X2 instead of X1 -- costs $60, which means you save $30 compared to MAMP PRO. Granted, Abyss does not include mySQL, PHP, etc., but I installed the latest versions of mySQL and PHP on my own, with some help from Aprelium. Unlike MAMP PRO, Abyss Web Server is not a polished app with a macOS GUI. It is web-based, which means that you do everything in your web browser. However, if you can get past that, Abyss runs very smoothly with few hiccups. One great feature which I particularly like is the fact that once properly set up, Abyss automatically renews and installs Letsencrypt certificates with no intervention needed on your part. Anyway, if you are tired of Appsolute's style, and the frustration and aggravation you suffer from lack of adequate support, consider switching to Abyss Web Server. You may be pleasantly surprised -- and relieved -- as I have been.
