Viva Las Vegas!

Colin had a week of vacation in October so we decided to head down to Las Vegas for a fun family trip. We were able to find a great deal at Circus Circus and Xander loved it!

We walked through a castle...

Sophia's First Birthday!

Now that it's been a month I guess it's really time to blog about Sophia's birthday. We woke her up swedish style with singing happy birthday and presents in bed. She was a little confused at first but Xander climbed into her crib and helped her with the presents and she was loving it. Oh, and don't you love her dinosaur pajamas?

That afternoon Colin's family came over for a birthday party, and I forgot both balloons and the fun party hats I bought... Guess we can use them next year.

She had fun opening presents...

As long as no one tried to do it for her.

We had high expectations for the cake devouring since our little princess really likes her food, especially sweets, but unfortunatley, she touched the candle and would have nothing to do with the cake after that. I wanted to try again on another day, but it just never happened.

Anniversary Cake!

Colin's grandparent's recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and I got the privilege of recreating their wedding cake for the family celebration. It was a challenge but I enjoyed it. We had a great time up at Temple Square with the whole family and a great luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Now if I could only learn to make their delicious chocolate mousse...

Playing!

A few weeks ago I went to a Women's Expo with two of my sisters-in-law. While waiting for them we played outside and had a good time. Sophia insisted to crawl on the thin cement path instead of playing on the large grass area all around us. When we were done I noticed her poor little big toe bleeding because it got scraped up by the cement, guess it's time to invest in some shoes?

Xander's Birthday!

Alexander's birthday finally came! He'd been waiting for it ever since his cousin's birthday back in December. We celebrated hm first thing in the morning, and he was a little confused at first but once he got a present to open he was on board. He got a new bike and even though he can't ride it yet, he loves it.

We took Xander to see Cars 2 that afternoon and it was fun to go out with just him, no Sophia, and the movie was cute. We came home just in time for the party, and we had a great time!

Xander had requested a scary cowboys (Toy Story 3), spiderman, cars cake and that's exactly what he got.

Fishing

Colin had a day almost off the other week so we all went down to Payson with him and we went up the mountain for a fishing trip. It was quite the hike to get to the lake, the roads were still closed but we managed to get up there with strollers, babies, and everything. Don't worry, we hiked up the paved road so it was very stroller friendly, other than the steep hills. We had a great time and caught lots of fish.

Chocolate pudding is a must when you're fishing.

Xander never got a fish on his own pole, but he helped daddy reel this one in.

My First Wedding Cake

Colin's sister Kari got married yesterday and I made her cake. It was a fun but tiring experience, but I'd love to do it again. For the last month Colin's been my cake and filling tester and we finally found a great marbled cake recipe, and filled it with a chocolate butter cream and an orange butter cream. It was very tasty. The only inedible on the cake is the ribbon around the bottom and the cake topper.

We're still here!

I was trying to upload all our pictures from our Sweden trip but the camera battery died with 5 pictures to go. So to prove that we're still alive, here are some pictures from Sophia's first trip to IKEA back in March.
