§ I

About me.

My name is Marcin Poholski. Born in Hamburg in 1987, I still live and work in this Hanseatic city. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of Lübeck, with a focus on Media Informatics — and have been building software for more than twelve years since.

In 2020 I was baptised. Since then, the rational, Scripture-based theology of the Socinians has become a central part of my life. Alongside my work as a software engineer, I write and translate books from Latin into German, run platforms about Socinianism in German and English, and produce short videos that bring theological topics into a modern, accessible form.

Above all, I am a seeker — constantly searching for truth, constantly questioning. Learning, for me, is not a phase but a posture: I ask, I examine, I rethink, again and again. I read Plato, Socrates and Kant not for their own sake, but because I try to live by their words — and by what Jesus taught. My approach can be put simply: faith with reason and Scripture.

A degree in computer science with a clear focus on Media Informatics: software engineering, human-computer interaction, digital media, web and UI technologies. Marginalia.

— Game

Chess

In chess I am less concerned with flashes of genius than with finding good rules and obeying them. I play in the school of Nimzowitsch — prophylaxis, blockade, control of the centre; a system whose precepts I try to follow, with the same rigour I look for in programming and in theology.

— Faith

Socinianism

I am a Socinian. This tradition — founded by Lelio and Fausto Sozzini in the 16th century — joins faith with reason and biblical exegesis. More on this at socinianism.com.

— Language

Reading & Translating

Theology, philosophy and literature. I translate selected writings of the Socinian tradition from Latin into German, to make them accessible to a wider audience.

— Craft

Software engineering

Clean architecture, readable code, good tools. Software that does precisely what it should — and a healthy appetite for new languages, frameworks and AI tools.
