We're back! Sort of...
I've really gotten quite bored of this whole blogging thing, but thought it would be good to write a little about our new hobby. We've decided to take up rockhounding. It is something that I used to enjoy doing as a kid and Madison and Shaylee love playing in the dirt, so it seems like a perfect fit. In fact it has been. Madison loves going out looking for pretty rocks and crystals, and living in a place with such a geological diversity, we have plenty of places to go see. We've been on a few trips now and decided on this last one to start taking pictures of our little adventures. So here you go.
Yesterday we decided to go to Sunstone Knoll, about 13 miles south of Delta. I am quickly becoming a fan of Delta, as it seems to be the hub of the West Desert and there are so many interesting places to collect right around there. Anyway, on our way to Sunstone Knoll, we stopped at Silver City, a small ghost town in the Tintic mining district just outside of Eureka. We went in search of pyrite in the mine dumps. We found some low quality pyrite, along with some other neat rocks; peacock ore lookin stuff as well as something I haven't identified yet (looks like a piece of cauliflower but green and blue).I've really gotten quite bored of this whole blogging thing, but thought it would be good to write a little about our new hobby. This was our third or fourth day trip and it was certainly one of our funnest. The kids had a great time and we found plenty of treasures. I will try to be better about blogging our little adventures...we'll see!
