Ouch
Last week I had oral surgery. My mouth should be in the Guinness Book of World Records! I actually had a dentist tell me that long ago because I have such strange things going on with my bones, gum, teeth, etc.
On one side at the top of my mouth I have no bone marrow. The bone is like solid rock, according to the surgeon (who happens to be in my new Ward). Because of this, two of my permanent teeth never came in....they are just stuck way up high. The teeth aren't really the problem, they can stay where they are. The bone is the problem. The surgeon did a biopsy of the gum and bone. I hope they find something, but the surgeon wasn't sure if there was anything they could do. Everything will be fine so don't worry.
But, the main reason for this post is to talk about the STITCHES. Oh, those terrible, awful, supposedly dissolvable stitches. They are the worst, especially in your mouth. There were a couple of stitches in the roof of my mouth that were pulling tight and it was driving me mad! I couldn't take it anymore so I took my magnifying mirror and tiny scissors and cut all the knots off and pulled them right out. Yep! Sure did. There was immediate relief and I felt so much better.
To the surgeon, "yep, the stitches dissolved just fine, no problems".
And that's my stitches story!

Just Poppin' in....
I have been super duper busy with life and can't seem to catch up to where I want to be.
We had a fun week long vacation in California a few weeks ago and we are headed to AZ for Thanksgiving.
I'll be back soon.

Painted bookcases
These are two of the four bookcases I painted earlier this summer. The were a golden oak color before. I definitely prefer the lighter color at this point in decorating. They look great in our basement and Big Mister loves having his books on display again.
The decorator side of me wants to arrange these bookcases all nice an pretty with items other than just books. But the practical side of me says they need to be just for Big Mister’s books. And that is that. He wants his library and this is about as good as it’s going to get. I am just lucky that he didn’t care if I painted them. He wouldn’t care if they had stayed the golden oak color.
I’m glad I took the time to paint them.
Finishing up this post and I found a couple more pictures of another bookcase. These were from Little’s Misses Birthday party that I will blog about soon.
Our cute neighbors with Little Mister….love that little boy!

I used to live here.
When I was attending BYU, this was one of the homes I lived in. I shared a bedroom in the back part of the house with another girl who is now my good friend. There were six girls living here. Rhonda was from Canada, Ximena from Chile, Jamie from Texas, Pam from Idaho, and Remy was from somewhere in Mexico. Remy had a boyfriend that was always there. They god married quick and she was out of there.
The basement was scary and housed the coin operated washer and dryer. Mr. Robinson, the owner, decided one day that he was going to make one more bedroom in the basement (but no bathroom). It would be big enough for just one girl. We all thought he was crazy because it was musty and dusty and unfinished except for one little section that he made into that bedroom. I don’t know how he go away with it, but he rented it to Pam and we were happy to have some life down there.
We had a large, square kitchen and two large bathrooms upstairs.
I remember sewing the first outfit I ever made in this house. I had set up my sewing machine in the Dining Room. I was so proud of that outfit, but I never wore it and never sewed another stich of clothing for myself. It just didn’t work for me. I can sew little things like Christmas Stockings, but not clothes. Ha!
I have lots of memories in this place and every once in a while, when I am down in Provo, I will drive by it . . . just because.

Women’s Conference
I was fortunate to get a ticket to the LDS Women’s Conference in downtown Salt Lake City. I was so excited to go. I have been to General Conference many times, but have never been to the Women’s Conference. I went with several friends from my Ward. It was fun getting to know a bunch of fun ladies that are my friends and neighbors.
Afterward we all went out for soup. It was a cool evening and we were all so hungry! The soup and the laughs hit the spot.
We have taken the Conference Center tour many times. It is an amazing building. Every time we go we learn something new because there is a different host each time and they each know something a little different. This last tour we were told that Pres. Hinckley did not want poles to obstruct anyone’s view. So, they worked with very knowledgeable builders and there is this huge beam that runs across the roof of the Conference Center that holds everything up. They say it is a one of a kind architectural wonder. If you’ve been in this building you understand how impressive it is. There are gardens all over the roof and we learned that there is special composite dirt used in the gardens so it wouldn’t be so heavy on the roof.
Last Sunday, we went to the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference. We try to get tickets and go as often as we can. We want the kids to remember how it felt to be in the Conference Center to see and hear the Prophet. We love being in Salt Lake for Conference. It is just wonderful.

Downtown
We have not spent a lot of time in downtown Pleasant Grove yet. We’re getting there. Last week we went into the local corner drug store and to one of the boutiques. I loved this clock outside one of the stores.
There is more to explore, stores, restaurants, and other fun shops.

The view out my kitchen window
I love looking out my kitchen window.
Especially this time of year when all the beautiful Fall colors are making their appearance.
Taking a drive through the Alpine Loop is necessary for fun and relaxation this time of year. The loop is just behind this mountain.
In our rental home we had a beautiful view of the city lights and the Wasatch mountains to the east. I liked it, but I prefer being nestled right up by the mountain where I feel like we have more space.
I never get tired of driving up the mountain to our home. (maybe the snow will make me think twice!
Nah! I love it.

First Snow
We woke up Friday morning to our first snow of the season. Our yard was covered in a dusting of powder. It didn’t last very long, but it was sure fun to see.
We are getting all our snow and cold weather gear out of storage. The kids can’t wait to play in the snow with all their new neighborhood friends.

A Black Eye

My Black eye...
and this was covered up with makeup!
I ran into the corner of my nightstand as I was leaning
down to reach my phone cord late at night.
It had fallen to the floor.
The lights were off.
Big Mister was snoozing.
I woke up to a swollen and bruised eye the next morning.
I didn't see it.
I couldn't feel it.
The kids asked me what happened as I was preparing their breakfast before school.
I didn't believe them.
I ran to the mirror.
I gasped and was surprised at how large the bruise was.
This picture makes it look not as bad.
It took two weeks for the bruise to go away.
I got lots of stares, but only one stranger asked me what happened.
That was the clerk at Trader Joe's.
I told her she was the only person (besides friends) that has asked.
It didn't work.
She says if you take it immediately it works better.
Good to know for the future.
