We used to do so good at this blog thing...well, Trisha used to do so good at this blog thing. With additional kids to please, church callings, weekend fun and the need to just relax sometimes we've slacked a bit. Here are a few updates:
Colby - Busy with work all week, arriving at work earlier and earlier to keep up with the work load. The 'economic stimulus money' did a great job of delaying the economic recession but we're starting to see it catch up as several layoffs at work with more to come unless work picks up have got us spending a little more time on our knees, and got me spending a little more time at work. We know we are so blessed and will continue to be no matter what the Lord may have planned for us. I've worked it out with Trisha to get every other Saturday doing some sort of hunting/shooting. Between pheasant, quail, coyotes, and new guns I've been enjoying spending time with my dad, brothers, and friends. Trisha's constantly accusing me of not being able to go a day without talking hunting. I assure her I can't go a day without talking about her or the kids too!
Trisha - Becoming more and more excited about our little addition coming next April. For those of you who haven't heard it's a girl. I knew it was going to be but Trisha suspected a boy so when we found out I was right I had to sit and soak in the moment, doesn't happen too often. Girl names are so hard to decide on and we haven't come to a consensus on what it will be. She spends her days keeping the house clean, and recleaning, and recleaning throughout the day. She recently got called to the relief society activities committee so when she was explaining to me she would HAVE to spend more time doing crafts with the relief society sisters I could sense her excitement. I just told her as long as there's baby sitting that wouldn't be a problem. She just rolled her eyes at me:). She's great at getting together with friends and doing activities with the kids. On Friday she and a friend were making sugar cookies for the kids to decorate and LaiLauna was sampling the cookies in her booster chair when she decided to get her feet up to the table and push back as hard as she could. Her chair tipped backwards resulting in a trip to the ER and 5 staples in a gash on the back of her head! Poor girl. It's a big surprise that she was the first to need staples/stitches. Knowing the boys and they're brilliant ideas you'd think they would have been first.
Noah - Doing great with school. We're surprised every day at the information he picks up at pre-school. He goes 3 days a week and looks forward to getting the show-and-tell bag to bring something from home. I thought it was cute the other day when he was counting and when he got to forty nine the next number was forty-ten, forty-eleven. I corrected him to say fifty, then when he got to fifty nine it was right back to fifty-ten. He's getting older and CAN NOT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS. He's been asking to set up the Christmas tree for a month now, but we're trying to mitigate the damage from LaiLauna by waiting until a couple weeks prior. Trisha brought home a few ads for black Friday and he must have looked through the Kohls toy ads 15 different times with a new comment to make about the toys every time. It's so fun to see his excitement, such a great age! His list is:
Race car
Books
Airplane
Kenex
Legos
Semi truck for race cars
Elijah - Growing older every day but staying just as cute. He's got such a great smile and laugh. Our struggle with him is getting him to understand that crying at the first hint of not getting his way doesn't help anything. He misses his brother when he's at school so he plays with LaiLauna and uses her as his crash test dummy for his 'great' ideas. He can't wait until he can go to pre-school next year. When I asked him what he wanted for Christmas his first response was "Two Christmases", smart boy knows how to work the system! His list is:
Stick Horse
Bow and arrow
Transformer
snow boots/pants (we added that)
Leapster
LaiLauna is sugar and spice and everything nice...most of the time. She's starting to talk and will be the first to say whenever there is baby, kitty, or hold her arms in close and shiver and tell you it's cold. She starts nursery today all by herself! For the last month we've been taking her and staying in there with her. She's been dubbed the 'tough' one if she hits her head or falls off something. She could care less if we're in there with her or not. She's such a breath of fresh air and such a pleasure to come home to each day from work. She's first in line for hugs and turns around and backs up into you until you pick her up. I think she's almost as excited as mom and dad for church to move to 9am in Jan, as 1-4pm is right in the middle of nap time. Her list (made by her mother) is:
Soft fold up stroller
24m Clothing
size 5 dress shoes
touch and feel books
baby learning games
If you've made it this far through the reading I apologize, this ended up being a lot longer than I planned on. We feel so blessed for the things our Father in Heaven has given us. A great job that provides for our family, our beautiful little home that's perfect for our family, cousins so close, and wonderful children to remind us to enjoy the little things. We hope you have a great holiday season!
