Life presents us with both joys and trials, often leading us to question the origin of our experiences. Many people believe that all good things come from God, while all bad things stem from the devil. While this belief is widespread, it oversimplifies how God works in our lives. The Bible provides a deeper perspective in Ecclesiastes 7:14: “When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other.” This verse teaches us that God allows both the good and the bad, not to harm us, but to help shape our faith and draw us closer to Him.

In times of spiritual or emotional turmoil, it’s easy to focus on the storm—the problems, the struggles, or even the enemy. But what if the key to overcoming these challenges lies not in fighting the storm but in focusing on the shelter that protects us from it? In this context, the shelter represents our relationship with God, while the storm symbolizes the devil’s attacks, troubles, or hardships we may face.

Understanding Adversity

Adversity is a natural part of life, but it isn’t always meant to destroy us. In fact, challenges are often allowed by God as a way to draw us closer to Him. The difficulties we face can serve as reminders to rely on His strength rather than our own. When we focus on Christ rather than the problems, we gain a clearer perspective on His grace and salvation. This shift in focus enables us to see that victory in life comes not through our own efforts, but through the love and power of Jesus Christ.

This principle is particularly relevant in places like Nigeria, where many believers experience poverty and hardship. Often, people tend to blame their struggles on the devil, ancestral curses, or enemies. While the belief in spiritual warfare is valid, we must remember that the moment we give our lives to Christ, we are set free by His grace. Unfortunately, false prophets often exploit the fear of enemies, causing believers to focus more on their perceived adversaries rather than on the love, grace, and salvation offered through Christ.

In reality, focusing on our enemies distracts us from the true source of our strength — Jesus. As Matthew 5:43–48 teaches, we are called to pray for our enemies, not curse them. By keeping our attention on Christ and His teachings, we are reminded that even in the face of adversity, our ultimate victory comes through Him.

Focusing on the Shelter, Not the Storm

This brings us to a crucial point: we can’t always prevent life’s storms, but we can shelter ourselves in Christ. Much like trying to fight the rain instead of seeking cover under a roof, it’s futile to battle every difficulty or enemy on our own. The devil, often seen as the cause of these storms, doesn’t have the power to destroy us unless we allow it by weakening our relationship with God. The stronger our connection to God, the more secure our shelter.

In times of trouble, our instinct may be to focus on the problem — the storm — rather than the solution — our shelter in Christ. But just as you wouldn’t stand in the rain complaining about getting wet, you shouldn’t focus solely on life’s challenges. Instead, take refuge in your faith and trust that God is working even in difficult situations. His shelter is available to protect and guide you through every storm.

When God Allows the Storm

There are times when God, in His infinite wisdom, allows the enemy to attack — but always with a purpose. The story of Jesus’ crucifixion is a prime example. The devil may have thought he won when Jesus was crucified, not realizing that God had other plans. The cross became the ultimate victory over sin and death, a plan that only God could orchestrate.

Similarly, the story of Joseph in the Old Testament reveals how God can use the devil’s schemes for His own glory. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned, but none of these setbacks thwarted God’s plan for his life. Instead, God used these trials to elevate Joseph to a position of power, ultimately saving his family and many others during a famine.

This pattern of God turning the enemy’s plans into triumph is repeated throughout Scripture. Even the persecution of early Christians, which the devil intended for destruction, became the catalyst for the spread of Christianity across the world. In each case, God allowed the storm, but He always used it for good.

The Key to True Freedom

Ultimately, the key to overcoming life’s challenges lies in shifting our focus from the storm to the shelter. By keeping our eyes on Jesus, we redirect our perspective from fear and doubt to faith and trust. In Christ, we find true freedom, knowing that He is in control of every situation. His love and grace are always sufficient, no matter the storm we face.

In conclusion, whether life brings good or bad, our focus must remain on Jesus. He is the shelter that protects us from life’s storms, and by focusing on Him, we can face every challenge with peace and confidence. So, instead of concentrating on enemies or the storm itself, let us fix our eyes on Christ, the source of our strength and salvation. With Him, we are never alone and always loved, ready to weather any storm and emerge victorious in faith.

Job hunting without substantial experience often leads to frustration and can even deter aspiring designers from pursuing their career goals. However, one valuable strategy that many designers overlook is the importance of cultivating friendships with developers. In this article, we’ll explore how having a developer as a friend can significantly impact your design career and open doors to exciting opportunities.

The Job Hunt Struggle:

As a designer, finding the right job to kickstart your career can be challenging, especially when you lack the experience to stand out in a crowded field. The current economic climate makes it even more difficult for junior product designers to secure positions in major tech companies, as these organizations are often hesitant to invest in inexperienced talent.

The Analogous Journey:

Imagine embarking on a journey and needing a driver. Naturally, you would seek out individuals with driving experience to ensure a safe and smooth trip. Similarly, in the tech industry, companies are cautious about hiring junior designers without a proven track record. This cautious approach creates a Catch-22 situation for beginners trying to gain experience and enter the workforce.

The Solution: Developer Friendships:

One powerful solution to this dilemma is forming friendships with developers. Collaborating with developers can provide designers with real-world project experiences that are invaluable for building a robust portfolio. This friend approached me with an idea, asking for design assistance, and I was not only able to contribute creatively but was also compensated for my work. This collaboration marks the beginning of a network that would later lead to more opportunities in the field.

Network Benefit:

Building connections within the industry is crucial for any aspiring professional. Having a developer as a friend expands your network and provides access to potential job referrals. Developers working in various companies may recommend you for design positions, leveraging their insider knowledge to vouch for your skills and reliability.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the importance of having a developer as a friend in the design industry cannot be overstated. It is a symbiotic relationship that allows both parties to grow and succeed. While the job market may be tough for junior designers, forming meaningful connections with developers opens the door to real-world projects, experience, and invaluable networking opportunities. So, as you navigate the challenges of launching your design career, remember that a developer could be your greatest ally in achieving success.

Thank you for reading, and may your developer friendships lead to exciting ventures and a thriving design care

In our pursuit of happiness, we often find ourselves waiting for that perfect moment, that elusive tomorrow, when everything will fall into place and bring us the joy we crave. However, what if we were to challenge this notion? What if we were to shift our perspective and realize that joy is not a destination to be reached but rather a state of being to be embraced in the present? In this article, we will explore the idea that happiness is not something we need to wait for; it is already within us, and it’s up to us to recognize and appreciate it.

The Trap of Future Happiness

Many of us fall into the trap of associating happiness with future accomplishments or events. We convince ourselves that once we achieve a certain goal, acquire a particular possession, or experience a specific milestone, we will finally attain true happiness. However, this mindset keeps us in a perpetual state of longing and discontent. We become so focused on what we don’t have that we fail to appreciate what we do have, causing us to miss out on the joy that is already present in our lives.

Gratitude for the Present

It is crucial to cultivate gratitude for the present moment. By practicing gratitude, we can shift our attention away from what is lacking and instead focus on the abundance that surrounds us. Consider the little progress you have made, the opportunities that lie before you, and the relationships that enrich your life. Each of these aspects carries the potential for happiness, waiting to be acknowledged and cherished.

Embracing the Journey

Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, challenges, and triumphs. Instead of fixating on reaching a specific destination, we can find joy by embracing the process itself. It is through the journey that we grow, learn, and discover our true selves. Every step, no matter how small, can bring us closer to fulfillment if we approach it with openness and a positive mindset.

Living in the Moment

The present moment is where life unfolds, and it is here that we can find genuine happiness. By fully immersing ourselves in the here and now, we can savor the simple pleasures, connect with others on a deeper level, and experience a sense of contentment. Let go of regrets from the past and worries about the future. Instead, focus on the present moment, and you will discover the beauty and joy that reside within it.

Spreading Happiness

Happiness is contagious, and by sharing it with others, we amplify its presence in our lives. When we choose to be kind, loving, and compassionate towards those around us, we not only enhance their well-being but also create a positive ripple effect that comes back to us. Joy multiplies when shared, so let us strive to uplift one another and create a world where happiness is abundant.

Conclusion

Waiting for happiness to come in the future is a futile endeavor. Joy is not a distant mirage but a present reality waiting to be embraced. By shifting our perspective, cultivating gratitude, embracing the journey, and living in the moment, we can discover the happiness that is already within us. Let us cherish the progress we have made, appreciate the opportunities before us, and love those around us. Remember, a good thing will happen—it’s meant to happen. Embrace the moment, be happy, and share your joy with others.

Stay safe, and share this article with a friend.
