Internet privacy is crucial as it safeguards personal data, preserves autonomy, and protects against surveillance. It fosters trust in online interactions and ensures individuals can control what they share, making it fundamental in the digital age.

However, we’ve all had our data sold to third parties without consent, becoming the product of internet. This became one of the main goals for the new internet era — web3 to solve. In web3, privacy is a cornerstone of the decentralized internet, offering users greater control over their data and enhanced consent mechanisms, with technologies like DID, dStorage, ZKP, MPC and FHE.

「Rebuild Ownership」as a series global hackathon, is designed to gather the pioneer protocols in the space and offer hackers a holistic experience of tackling on internet privacy using web3 technologies. FederatedFHE: FederatedFhe leverages the power of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) to address security and privacy concerns in Federated Learning (FL). By performing aggregation on encrypted models, FLuFHE prevents the aggregator from accessing the actual model parameters, protecting against both inference attacks and stealth attacks. ($3000)

Cipher DEX: Built a DEX that takes the advantage of FHE to avoid being MEVed as the swap amount are encrypted. ($1500)

🌏 The “Rebuild Ownership” series of hackathons is back, and this time, it’s all about “Rebuilding user ‘data’ ownership on the Internet.” In an era where data privacy is paramount, this hackathon brings together Web3 innovators who are dedicated to user data sovereignty. 🚀 In July this year, we successfully hosted Rebuild 1.0, which saw an impressive 30 project submission, with 8 outstanding projects emerging as winners. About Linera

A recap of our exciting experience at the Rust Developer Conference

The global hackathon organized by DataverseOS has come to a successful end. As of June 30, 2023, when the competition ended, we would like to share some exciting data with you:

ETHCC in Paris and how it went

What comes to mind when you think of Paris? The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Coco perfume, Bordeaux red wine, melodious music and laughter… But in this beautiful city in July, if you have a friend who works in the crypto or Web3 industries, you are very likely to see a selfie at ETHCC and see somebody from the DataverseOS team.

Sharing insights and project plans with Web3 practitioners from around the world, everyone from the DataverseOS team enjoyed the process of colliding sparks of inspiration with each other. Launch BUIDL DWeb series of dev toolkits

DWeb connects people, projects and protocols essential to building a decentralized web. A web that is more private, reliable, secure and open.

Introducing dweb-toolkits: DataverseOS is exploring the collaborative construction of a decentralized network, DWeb, by integrating various Web3 protocols and infrastructures that contribute to the implementation of DWeb. Our team is building a series of dweb-toolkits to simplify the development process for developers using these protocols, empowering data under these protocols to become user files in the OS, accessible for viewing, management, and monetization. DataverseOS will serve as the API layer facilitating data interoperability and connectivity among different Web3 protocols, including Web3 behavior data.

Today, we are pleased to announce that in our journey to build DWeb, we have successfully integrated technologies from friends like XMTP, Push Protocol, Livepeer, and others. In the past month we have also integrated Lens Protocol and Snapshot.

Lens Protocol should be familiar to many people, as it is a chain-based social protocol. With the introduction of lens-toolkits, users can publish any data stream from DataverseOS as a lens post, transforming it into social content.

Snapshot is a distributed voting platform, and this integration allows proposals and voting actions on Snapshot to be recorded as data files in the OS.

We will continue to integrate more Web3 protocols to create a systematic and comprehensive decentralized internet toolkit.

Technology Update Report — Presented by our excellent technical team

In the past month, the DataverseOS technical team has been continuously demonstrating the Web3 craftsman spirit. We have reviewed and organized DataverseOS’s technical progress in five categories and will report them one by one:

1) Data Wallet

• Fully support EIP-1193 functionality as a complete crypto wallet, user can use data wallet to send transactions on chain and call any smart contract just like MetaMask;
• By aggerating asset wallet features, data wallet now becomes a fully-featured crypto wallet with additional functionalities for protecting user signatures and data resources;
• Inject dataverse object in webpage, devs now can use window.dataverse the same as window.ethereum;
• A new open architecture Wallets-in-Wallet, integrate with other wallets and account solutions, particle network integrated already, more to come;
• Add Coinbase, WalletConnector to wallets-in-wallet;
• Integrate with wagmi and rainbow, waiting for the PR to be approved.

2) SDK

• Expose a fully implemented Web3 provider for developers, use our SDK in a similar way as web3.js;
• Runtime-connector renamed to dataverse-connector;
• Exposes runOS method, use all data features via this one method. for example, runOS(method=createStream);
• Devs can pass in a Web3 provider. thus any wallet plug into our system and access dataverseos functionabilities.

3) dApp table

• dapptable-client SDK for creating & updating dApp info in dapp table.

4) DWeb toolkits

• Lens-toolkit, turn any data stream into a lens post;
• Snapshot-toolkit, save proposal and the vote actions as files on DataverseOS.

5) Create-dataverse-app

• A new Dataverse-cli, use it to init project, deploy dApp and generate admin key

The Initiavte

At DataverseOS we believe in cryptography instead of “privacy policies”. We are dedicated to allowing ownership of personal data and stopping giant platforms from profiting from user data while violating their privacy.

We initiated the “Rebuild Ownership” hackathon, where participants could learn new Web3 data stacks and protocols, play around them and collaborate with like-minded others. At the same time, we offered technical help and provided guidebook, enabling hackers create great projects and increasing their chance of winning. Naturally, the theme of the hackathon delved into “the next generation of identity computers for decentralized data applications”.

Match solves the issue of trust deficit associated with online dating platforms and allows users to have confidence in the authenticity of profiles, the security of data, and the transparency of interactions. Soulcial is a self-generated social metaverse driven by on-chain behavior and real-world data, aimed to encourage users to take part in more social activities and accumulate scores and allows users to co-create with AI and generate their exclusive social assets,.

Arazzo is a Web3 blogging platform designed to empower users in the world of decentralized web. It offers a seamless onboarding experience by allowing users to directly connect using their digital wallets, eliminating the need for traditional registration processes.

Cypher Sync makes decentralized storage accessible and useable for all and the onboarding process easier for average Web2 users. It also prevents spam attacks on any cloud and decentralizing from RPC level to Personal Storage.

What is HackFS?

HackFS is an annual event organized by ETHGlobal, a leading organization in the blockchain and Ethereum ecosystem. The event is a three weeks-long hackathon that brings together developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and blockchain enthusiasts from around the world.

At HackFS 2023, participants were encouraged to leverage the power of Web3 technologies to revolutionize the traditional financial landscape. With the integration of blockchain and smart contract platforms, developers have the opportunity to reimagine ownership, value exchange, and trust through dApps.

From June 2nd to 21st, 838 builders from 73 countries ventured into the world of Web3 with a focus on dApps, decentralized storage, and everything in between. As a result, 200 incredible projects were submitted.

DataverseOS bounty

DataverseOS is honored to be one of the bounty partners among other leading web3 protocols. To encourage hackers to re-imagine data ownership, we offered a bounty of $5000, for the most inventive use of DataverseOS.

The directions we pointed out were:

Our Bounty Winner

We are more than excited to appoint our bounty to Pensieve, decentralized file storage to recreate moments in our memories and share them with others. Our team was thrilled to see how Pensieve used Dataverse for the frontend development in their project, so the users would be able to connect on Filecoin network to the dApp through the Dataverse Wallet. It gives the dApp access to the user’s encrypted storage on Ceramic ComposeDB.

How does Pensive work?

The users can register a new event by proving their ownership of POAP NFT of that event and POAP NFTs for the demo are created on FVM with their metadata stored on NFT.Storage. Thus, when users upload photos, the photos are encoded and passed to Bacalhau’s containerized machine-learning image processing flow and Bacalhau stores the processed output on IPFS.

Dat-Sat-4A!: A groundbreaking solution to transform dataset enhancement and collaboration. It empowers individuals to actively engage in hackathons by uploading their datasets and scripts effortlessly and give users the ability to enhance, transform, and filter their data, unlocking new possibilities for innovation and collaboration.

FIL CAD: A developer tool to enable CAD designers and Web3 artists with on-chain and open source raster graphics editor for free form drawing, editing using Filecoin and Web3 ecosystem tools.

Filroad: A one Stop Platform to buy and sell all digital products for all creators and DataDAO aggregators.

Netcast: enables privacy preserving Web3 social content distribution through zero knowledge machine learning enabling every content to be attested from it was original produced. Content producers can attach/sign content with zk proofs to distinguish them from any other AI generated content online with a verified sticker similar to a verified account

Polyverse: A groundbreaking Web3 content platform. Through it, creators can seamlessly publish and share their work with their audience, knowing that their content is protected through smart contracts and cryptographic signatures. This ensures that creators’ intellectual property rights are respected and they receive appropriate recognition and compensation for their contributions

In today’s digital age, we generate a massive amount of personal data on a daily basis, from our online activity to our financial transactions. However, the question of who owns this data and how it is being used remains a rising issue. This is where data wallets come in, providing a solution for individuals to manage and control their personal data.

So, what exactly is a data wallet?

Simply put, a data wallet is a digital space that allows users to store, manage, and share their personal data securely, especially online footpritns in social medias. Technically, in a data wallet, users can create digital identities to manage data generated over different applications, and visualize and monetize data as assets. Data wallets should use advanced encryption and decentralized technologies to ensure that user data is secure and private.

But why does it matter?

Data is an incredibly valuable commodity in today’s digital economy, with companies and advertisers willing to pay top dollar for access to user data. However, without proper control of data, users are at risk of having their personal information misused or sold without their consent. Taking over control with a data wallet is a solution. For example, if you publish a post or follow someone in Twitter, the data wallet controls these interact data securely for you.

Dataverse wallet as new Internet portal

DataverseOS is a web3-native operating system that focuses on private data security for individual users. It enables encryption and provides users with a secure storage system in p2p networks where they can own and control their data. The flywheel is that developers can build storage-based dApps around user identities, primally non-financal web-scale applications like Twitter.
