When he was captured, he prophesied that he would not burn in the flames but transform into a mosquito to get justice.

Malaria later killed many oppressors.

Boukman Dutty (Dutty Boukman) from Senegambia, a Houngan, prophecies and rebellions saw a way towards freedom and empowered more to action.

Led by the formally enslaved Toussaint L’Overture in August of 1791, plantations and enslavers burned.

The French eventually betrayed Toussaint L’Overture and he died imprisoned.
