Around a table adorned with 25 handmade fans, in a neoclassical building charged with memory and meaning, five photographers, fourteen models, and the tingling invitation of fabric came together. Each meeting was spontaneous and reciprocal — above the table, a gesture unfolded that led to intimate, honest, and unfiltered sessions in the quiet corners of Kerameikou 28, then the operational base of Communitism.

DiDa practiced her hand fan craft in the Butterflies & Camels workshop, where, together with Angel Torticollis, she nurtured a community around repurposing fabric. Pure Breeze began as a practical need to document her work: hand fans created not only for function, but as artistic objects — carriers of energy, mood, and selfhood. She invited five photographers and fourteen models — all friends from the world of Communitism — to experience the fans as personal expressions. What unfolded was a playful, artful day of experimentation. The heat of the summer, the kindness of everyone involved, and the quiet safety of the empty building allowed creativity to flow — like a pure breeze.

Tribute to a Fleeting Time

The building at Kerameikou 28 sheltered Communitism and Athens’ experimental scene for six years. As this vibrant community poured care into the space, a sense of belonging grew among its members. Most of those who participated in Pure Breeze had never met before that day. And yet, trust formed easily in an intimate atmosphere where the hand fans became extensions of identity. With only a small piece of fabric between themselves and the world, the models explored who they are when most vulnerable.

The space itself — a beautiful, fading neoclassical building that housed Communitism’s cultural center — played a quiet but vital role. Usually buzzing with activity, it was silent that day in July, offering the privacy needed for everyone to express freely.

Each photographer brought a unique eye, a different rhythm, a distinct way of witnessing. What unites the images is the presence of a community that once breathed life into an abandoned cultural heritage site in Metaxourgeio.

But everything flows, and Communitism had to move on.

Two years later, we are proud to see that our gesture inspired Athenian artists to open new spaces, courageously claiming ground for expression. One such initiative is atelier délos, a space run by photographer Olga Stefatou. Dedicated to photography, it fosters creativity and builds community — offering a third space in Nea Smirni for Athenian photographers and beyond.

This exhibition is a love letter to that fleeting day.
We invite you to wander through these rooms again, to feel the breeze, and to reflect on how much can be expressed with so little.

Atelier délos: Evaggelikis Sholis 5, 17122 Nea Smirni

Opening: 08/05: 6.00 p.m.

The exhibition will be open :

Thursdays & Fridays : 8–9/05 & 15–16/05 6.00 -9.00 p.m.,

Saturdays & Sundays 10–11 & 17–18/05 6.00–10.00 p.m.

On Sunday 11/05 Dida will hold a “Make your own fan” workshop.

Book your place at hello@communitism.space

Closure: Thursday 22/05: 6. p.m.

Credits
Location of shoot: Kerameikou 28, former Communitism cultural center
Date of Original Shoot: 21 July 2021

Photoshoot Concept: Konstantina Psomadaki

Concept by: Natassa Dourida

Curation: Olga Stefatou, Susana Kalemou, Natassa Dourida

Photographers: Olga Stefatou, Marilena Gkirlemi, Susana Kalemou, Dimitra Papageorgiou, Maria Paraschidou

Models: Panos Balomenos, Paivi Balomenou, Efrosini Tsiritaki, Nadia Ibra Ali, Mouh Hascour, Anne Devillers, Svitlana Paramonova, Natassa Dourida, Angel Torticollis, Dimitra Papageorgiou, Stelios Douridas, Dimitris Gritsas, Vaso Anagnostopoulou, Grigoria Vryttia

Make up artist : Nikoleta Arvanitidou

Special Thanks to Mary Dourida for assisting the production

Photo credits: Olga Stefatou, Graphics: Marilena Gkirlemi

Pure Breeze: a tribute to a summer day

📧 Κράτηση θέσης: hello@communitism.space

Empowering communities of Greece II— Knowledge
on sustainable practices of commoning in housing and use of space

Homelessness and lack of access to affordable housing, as well as lack of shared spaces that can facilitate social synergies
and support the development of communities and cooperative activities are challenges central to our work. As such, we need to develop long-term cross-border cooperation and partnerships with experienced
organisations and networks that can support the professional development of our staff, improve our ability to sustainably
finance and develop cooperative projects, and can further assist us to share this knowledge and to support active
communities and groups that develop cooperative spaces and co-housing projects.

For this purpose, we developed the project with the title “Empowering communities of Greece II — Knowledge
on sustainable practices of commoning in housing and
use of space” which we call Co-Housing Greece . Supported by Erasmus+, this project supported Communitism to educate its members throughout 2023 on the topic, and through this process develop the strategic plan that will enable us to achieve our goals in the future.

For this cause we partnered with the association Inwole e.V. which has founded the collective housing project Projektthaus Potsdam. Both the association and the Projekthaus hold an experience of more than 20 years in matters of cooperative housing and use of space; through the collaboration we hold since 2019, we are in a continuous exchange of knowledge and practices that enable Communitism to proceed with the planning of the ambitious endeavour.

Through Co-housing Greece, we were able to invite in Athens two experts in the field of Collective ownership, Petar Atanackovic of the Mietheuser Syndikat and Verena Lenna of Community Landtrust Brussels, for a masterclass in collective housing. The workshop took place in April of 2023, at the sociocultural center that Communitism was operating at the time. The process initiated with presentations on the projects and an open discussion with the wider audience interested in the topic. It then proceeded into a week long workshop, which was open to the community of members of the association.

Moments from the masterclass: presentations, workshops and moments of reflections.

More than 45 persons participated in this process, which we consider very useful for our future steps. Facing the urgency of having to evacuate the building of Kerameikou 28 by June of 2023, the community came together to envision a future that can affect Athens in a positive manner, contrary to the stream of touristification that is transforming it in the current period. The result was a strategic outline for the next two years, elevated knowledge on the topic specified to the Athenian conditions, and an oprtimistic feeling about the challenge that arose.

The project also involved that six members of our association travelled to the Projekthaus to get training on the topic. the participants travelled to Potsdam in three flows: two members engaged in 10 days of job shadowing and four more participated in training courses. The courses took place in December of 2023 and focused on a detailing the strategic outline we had created in April. For six days, our participants engaged in this applied exercise, which produced public texts, the organisational planning and the timeline of the association for the next 2 years.

We consider that our project Empowering Communities of Greece II to be one of the most successful that we have ever held, as it responded to the need of hacking the existing frameworks in Greece in a manner that will allow communities to be more resilient in the future. We believe that it constitutes an ideal example of a “learning by doing” process, which offered multidimensional results to the community.

”Empowering communities of Greece II — Knowledge
on sustainable practices of commoning in housing and use of space” was a project funded by the European Union within the framework of Erasmus+

After a fruitful collaboration of three years, our Erasmus+ funded project “Emerging Communities: Empowerment for social engagement, self-organisation and development of local solutions” has come to an end!

We were invited to the project by Inwole e.v., a German association active in the field of empowerment towards collective housing practices, with whom Communitism holds a long standing collaboration. Along with us, 6 more organisations from other European countries responded to the invitation, creating a paneuropean consortium eager to explore new methods of collaboration. The notions of transnationalism and cross-disciplinarity inspired us all into engaging with this project, that was aspiring to develop a new community .

Emerging Communities in Thessaloniki, March 2023 Photo credits: Clara Florensa

Following this idea, we formed a chain of organisations with complimentary practices:

While Project House Potsdam — Inwole offers an experience of 25 years in collective housing solutions , Italia che Cambia offers a media platform connecting all the grassroots projects and initiatives of Italy and ImWandel Berlin offers a platform for sustainability within the grassroots initiatives. Communitism brings in a practice of an experimental model for alternative professionalism and economy in the Athenian context and the Group for Conceptual politics promotes political action , motivating citizens in the fields of self-governance and peace politics in Serbia. Open Cultural Center integrates displaced people in the local society of Barcelona while Ethos, both in Greece and Germany has been devotedly promoting social integration, sustainable development and social entrepreneurship.

The project foresaw mobilities for all the organisations to visit each other, and observe in depth their activities, with the aim of promoting the exchange, ignite inspirations and establish the ground for new collaborations. From June of 2020 until October 2021, the project was active, yet we were prevented by the pandemic from organising the site visits. Instead, we took the opportunity to present to each other our organisations, our values and principles and our practices, through online meetings. In this way, we were all familiar with the organisations before visiting, and this allowed us to focus on important details when on site.

Emerging Communities in Copenhagen, June 2023 Photo credits: Branka Curcic

We were able to hold our kick-off meeting in October 2021 in Berlin, visiting ImWandel Berlin, which introduced us to their method of coordinating grassroot movements towards methods of sustainable development. Our next meeting was held in Athens, when the rest of the organisations visited Communitism in the sociocultural centre it was then operating, and followed our spiralling methodology of generating alternative systems by practising community and arts. Then, Italia che Cambia introduced us to their activities and goals in Mantova in May 2022, visiting the cultural centre M84 which on its own offers an important story of change. The Group for Conceptual Politics introduced us to their devoted work on activating citizens in the environment of Novi Sad and Serbia in general, in September of 2022, and in November of 2022, the Open Cultural centre invited us to Barcelona, guiding us through their activities of supporting, educating and promoting the social integration of minor and young refugees. In March 2023, Ethos Thessaloniki introduced us to their field work in establishing a zero waste food chain, that supports people in need, activates citizens with social sensitivities and educates the local community. Lastly, we altogether organised a road trip in June 2023, that started from Potsdam and ended in Copenhagen. Specifically, we visited Projecthaus Potsdam, where Inwole introduced us to their 25 year long practice in collective housing, while we participated in their annual event that presents to the general public the Projecthaus’ work and in Copenhagen we were introduced by Ethos ngo to their methodology of establishing social entrepreneurship models that support sustainable development in various places of the world.

Projecthaus Potsdam Open Doors day: June 2023 Photo credits: Philippos Polatsidis

In each of these visits, organisations was able to invite an average of two of their members. This allowed for several participants to profit from this opportunity to travel and gain insights and new perspectives. Each trip consisted of the solid layer of the actual presentations of the work that was being performed locally, but also the soft layers of insightful conversations between the participants, exchanging on the cultural specificities of each location- an exchange that allowed for ideas and new possible solutions to emerge. Together, we established the first self-organization elements, such as creating our logo and creating moments of collective decision making on the evolution of the project.

Another important element of this project was the almost transcendental influence that human relationships can bring, as the very special people that participated, gradually bonded into a community. The community that has emerged, consists of artists, activists and practitioners who are very devoted to their cause, while some of them belong to marginalised social groups, such as being queer, refugees or on the spectrum of autism. As this very diverse group travelled throughout Europe, they all enriched their knowledge and got empowered to continue their work locally while recognizing within the community some new allies.

Emerging Communities in their final trip, Copenhagen, June 2023 Photo credits: Lorena Di Maria

The mobility part of the project wrapped up in June of 2023 but the project itself ends officially in October of 2023. Although we have fulfilled our official obligations towards the Erasmus+ office , we still take the time to meet online and plan our next steps. Our community aspires to continue this journey, with more in-depth collaborations, that can take our practices to the next level. As we have established a ground of common understandingby familiarizing ourselves with each other’s’ work, we are now ready to practically build up on this ground, allowing for deeper empowerment to happen in each location.

We hope to be able to inform you soon of our next endeavours, to which we wish to involve even more organisations from more European countries.

Dear friends,

It is very difficult for us to announce that Communitism is leaving the building at 28 Kerameikou Street, at Metaxourgeio, central Athens.

Since March 2017 we met, recognized each other and evolved together at Kerameikou 28. We broke the borders defined by our different languages and identities, and learned how to function as a community. We watched an idea evolve into everyday practice and created our own vocabulary to describe a life based on coexistence. We felt the power that can be created when many people work together. Gradually, we developed our values and an innovative collaborative practice. We kept the building alive with care and attention, and opened it up as a shared cultural asset for the city and its creative people. And how many, after all, these people were: enough to keep the building of Kerameikou 28 busy as a beehive for 6 years!

According to the survey of Monumenta NGO, Athens had 10,600 abandoned historical buildings in 2016, while Metaxourgeio had 163, of which at least ten have now collapsed. It would not be an exaggeration to suggest that the historical buildings of Athens are experiencing a second wave of destruction, after the period of antiparohi in the 60’s, when the were massively demolished to be replaced by new concrete buildings; only this time they’re collapsing due to disuse, giving their place to ruins and vacant plots.

Communitism was from its beginnings (2015) an exploratory proposal envisioned to save the historical physiognomy of the neighbourhood of Metaxourgeio, which attracts so many creative individuals every day. Our concept exalts both : the abundance of abandoned buildings and the abundance of young creative professionals without career prospects. It is based on a basic principle of the theory of monument restorations: conservation is the utmost preservation principle (Petzet, 2004) which explains how buildings collapse from disuse and therefore lack of maintenance. Isn’t it a shame in a city that suffers from constant social crises, that buildings with historical value fall down due to disuse? The idea of Communitism aspired to cure this absurdity by inviting the people of Metaxourgeio to enter into dialogue with the historical buildings of the area.

Communitism will have to leave 28 Kerameikou but our vision stays, sharply and strongly responding to an urgent need: as the city is being transformed by tourism, residents are losing access to vital spaces for cultural and civic expression. As a sociocultural center, Communitism embodies the Athenians’ need for third spaces, spaces that are not predetermined in terms of their use and thus allow a continuous process of re-creation. Spaces that while constantly evolving are always including “the other”, thus allowing constant renegotiations of boundaries and cultural identity, as described by urbanist Edward Soja. The six-year investigation at Kerameikou 28 bore great fruit in terms of the ways in which the third spaces in the city could be developed within these buildings.

May 2023 will be the last month of Communitism at Kerameikou 28. We leave feeling grateful for the opportunity we had to create and experience a parallel Athenian reality. Braced with courage and vision, our community is preparing for a new chapter which foresees the design and implementation of a new sociocultural center, sustaining our ecosystem in the long term while taking care of Metaxourgeio heritage. But before we leave, we want to celebrate this transition by making room for memories, sadness, grief, but also hope and imagination.

During May, we will have many opportunities to meet in the building. You are all welcome and invited to experience togetherness for the last time in Kerameikou 28.

To sow the seeds of a new beginning we call on many of you:

We call on the state to recognize the need for the existence of third spaces in Athens: this is a dialogue that has not yet started. The need to preserve the relatively recent cultural heritage is also an ever-stale dialogue. The state must recognize and support the values produced by the contemporary autonomous culture.

We invite the owners of listed buildings of Athens who do not want to sell and are able to trust the new, to contact us and discuss the prospects we can open together.

We invite artists and creative professionals who are motivated by our purpose to work with us to raise awareness to as many people as possible about the cultural heritage that is being lost from Metaxourgeio — but also throughout Athens — day by day.

We invite anyone who has participated in an event within Kerameikou 28 or has worked on any essay concerning our practice, to share with us photos, stories, texts or any other archive element, in order to have as complete and multi-aspected documentation of our work as possible.

We call for the social & creative spaces we have been in collaboration with in the past years, to open space for the communities hosted in Kerameikou 28 ; a wave of creativity is about to burst in the city!

Lastly, we invite our collaborators, long-time friends, and anyone else inspired by our vision to subscribe in our association, entitled “Union of Citizens for the preservation of newer cultural heritage, with the descriptive title Communitism” and contribute as a member of a global, multi-collective community to an innovative creative exploration through which an urban fabric can reclaim its consistency.

Our networks must remain strong and consistent! Perhaps in this way we can keep some spaces open and accessible to all, where communities can act independently, cooperate and produce for the city its next cultural identity!

“Many little people, in little places, doing little things, can change the world.”

Eduardo Galeano

* You can follow us and subscribe to our newsletter through our website, communitism.space

Social media: fb, insta, medium & linked in : communitism

Contact us, at hello@communitism.space

Co-housing Greece: Empowering communities of Greece with knowledge on sustainable practices of commoning in housing and use of space

Homelessness and lack of access to affordable housing, as well as lack of shared spaces that can facilitate social
synergies and support the development of communities and cooperative activities are the main challenges that we try to
address through our work. Our associations are developing cooperative spaces and co-housing projects and provide
support to community initiatives that seek co-housing solutions and maintain spaces collectively. As such, we need to
develop long-term cross-border cooperation and partnerships with experienced organisations and networks that can
support the professional development of our staff, improve our ability to sustainably finance and develop cooperative
projects, and can further assist us to share this knowledge and to support active communities and groups that develop
cooperative spaces and co-housing projects.
Within this, we have defined two key areas that we would like to develop. The first relates to our internal capacity to
utilise proven methods and tools of financial and administrative development from different social and cooperative
housing models that exist in Europe, and to further adopt this knowledge to our local context and needs. The second
area concerns our ability to disseminate this knowledge and to provide meaningful assistance and support to existing and
upcoming community groups that wish to establish and maintain cooperative spaces/housing. In addition, it is important
to expand the social and intercultural competences of our staff and to add new perspectives and skills that can help them
develop new ways of problem solving for our challenges.
In relation to our internal capacity we would like to expand our knowledge of the different models and approaches of
cohabitation and to improve our ability to plan the financial and administrative development of such approaches,
including planning of financial and social activities that foster the long-term sustainability of these models. That is why we
would like to enable our staff to participate in educational activities and job shadowing learning methods, that improve
key competencies through the creative combination of theory and practice.
Furthermore, we would like to improve our ability to adopt, utilise and share this knowledge by developing educational
and training activities that promote neighbourhood cooperation and the evolution of cooperative spaces and co-housing
solutions within the greater community. Therefore, we like to improve the didactic competences of our staff and equip
them with new concepts and innovative teaching methods and tools. This will improve our ability to share this knowledge
with the community and to provide meaningful assistance and support to existing and upcoming community groups.
We plan to expand the social and intercultural competences of our staff, to help them develop new perspectives, ideas
and approaches, and to enable them to better reflect on their own work as well as the work of the communities we
support. We are very interested in reaching diverse community groups through educational activities and to generate
new educational opportunities and projects. We want to see innovative approaches and synergies developing within the
community, and this is why we directly support community members to expand their perspectives and to learn from
experienced communities that develop projects in other European countries, by involving them in the educational
activities despite possible linguistic barriers they might face.
Through this project, which is a continuation of our cooperation but also a step forward for our partnership, we want to
pursue long-term cooperation and sharing of knowledge that will lead to the development of sustainable approaches and
solutions to common problems such as homelessness and lack of affordable housing, that exist in Greece but also
across Europe. The gradual expansion of our knowledge and operational capacity combined with the acquisition of
didactic, social and intercultural competences will improve our ability to support both the evolution of cooperative spaces
and co-housing initiatives, but also to facilitate the growth of our knowledge network and of partnerships and practices for
sustainable development.

In this space, artists and practitioners active in creative reuse of discarded clothes and fabrics can meet and share knowledge exchange practices. The workshop was founded in 2019, when a 3-months workshop of collaborative practices in clothing refashioning, ended in the runway project called “Butterflies & Camels: NOT A FASHION SHOW”. Butterflies & Camels was also the thematic of Communtism’s annual event in 2019 , when the whole community that was then operating the sociocultural center Communitism spiraled for a week , presenting the building’s program, and the NOT-A-FASHION-SHOW was a part of it.

Moment from the 2019 fashion show / Photo credits: Christos Christidis

The title was offering an insight on how communities work: They consist of both Butterfly-like creatures that are light and buoyant, flying from flower to flower pollinating with information, and of sweet Camel-like creatures that endure and make sure the caravan of a community keeps going. Yet, one knows that a singe role in life can be somewhat dull or tiring, and in fact, a successful community is one that nurtures the blending of these two natures into a new kind of dual-natured, resilient, magical creatures, that we ended up calling Camelbutts; they can endure, but they can fly as well. The physical space of the workshop, was established during that event and has been active ever since.

After the Covid-related two year long hiatus, the three artists running the workshop decided organize the project “Camelbutts Reloaded 2022” as a way of reactivating; with the support of “i-portunus houses” mobility program, they were able to invite three artists from their network, active in refashioning clothes : Sophia Wameling, a refashion designer located in Berlin came in March, Christos Kyriakides a multi-spectred artist from Nicosia came in April and Max Allen, a grand re-designer of London came in May. Each one of them were invited in Athens for 10 days to hold three workshops , sharing their practices with the workshop participants. In the weeks in between , the Camelbutts workshop artists Angel Torticollis, Grigoria Vryttia and Dida Dourida held 3 workshops sharing their own practices, and they invited in local artist Ioanna Bouzika to hold one as well.

Grigoria Vryttia’s artistic jewellery items / Photo credits: Grigoria Vryttia

Max Allen’s workshop poster / Graphics: Max Allen

Creative accessories making workshop by Christos Kyriakides / Photo credits: Christos Kyriakides

The curriculum involved workshops on patron & intervention design technique (Sophia Wameling) , fabric painting technique( Ioanna Bouzika) , artistic jewellery creation (Grigoria Vryttia) , embroidery ( Angel Torticollis), creative accessory making( Christos Kyriakides) , hand-fan making ( Dida Dourida), and fashion & costume creation ( Max Allen) . The workshops were followed by 36 unique participants, 15 of which attended recurring workshops . Throughout the workshops they created a series items, 18 of which managed to reach a finished state .

Some of the finished items/ Photo credits : Dimitris Tzamtzis (1) , Max Allen ( 2), Christos Kyriakides ( 3)

To help them showcase these unique items, the Camelbutts invited their associated communtity of vintage re-sellers Athene Vintage ( a.k.a Athina Albanοudi , Eleni Voultsidou and Maria Paraschidou) to help us style the runway. The 3 girls brought in their vibrant community to model and the artists’ studio common space became a playground for creative, edgy, contemporary fashionistas. In the meantime, the team of Keramo Lab took care of the scenography for the runway, while a vintage resellers & crafting bazaar was taking place on Communitism’s roof terrace.

Moments before the runway / Photo credits: Dimitris Tzamtzis

The NOT-A-FASHION-SHOW with title Camelbutts Reloaded 2022 was opened by the dance collective “Some of us” , who rehearsed throughout winter for their project entitled “ This is not a profile” in Communitism’s incubator , a.k.a. Plenum . Then, the talented dJ Grace guided the show. It was a unique experience, showing us how community arts are able to take forms we haven’t imagined yet, as the 10 models showed the 20 refashioned outfits around the roof terrace in front of an audience of 250 persons. On the aftermath, we celebrated our event fulfilling with a small party on Grace’s vibes, in the communal spaces, the apartment of the Association of Communitism ( a.k.a. Association of citizens for the preservation of newer cultural heritage with the descriptive title Communitism).

Moments of a NOT-A-FASHION-SHOW / Photo credits: Dimitris Tzamtzis

The Camelbutts Reloaded 2022 Not-A-Fashion-Show final runway picture / Photo credits : Dimitris Tzamtzis

As we are now resetting the workshop in an upgraded spatial design, we are counting the project’s blessings: The invited resident artists became good friends, with which we are looking forward to find new ways of continuing our exchange in the future. The Butterflies and Camels workshop has one new member- more of a camel ready to embrace the butterfly nature. We have strengthened bonds with the Athene Vintage community, already proceeding in new experiments. Our network has been given more creative ways of expression and as a result, our audience has been enriched . In total we believe that this project, being a follow up project to the 2019 pilot project, took a different turn, up-scaling in professionalism yet still creating adequate space for radical self expression and creativity for our community to grow.

The artists’ mobility programme was realized through the i-portunus mobility grant “ I-portunus houses”

As this concept was ignited when considering the funding opportunity of i-portunus houses, we are honoured that associations MitOst, Kultura Nova and the European Cultural Foundation trusted and supported us in this process. We hope all of the supported projects enjoyed the same experience as we did , one we would be happy to have again!

Emerging Communities: Empowerment for social engagement, self-organization and development of local solutions

Emerging Communities is an Erasmus+ funded project , bringing together eight organizations from six different countries , active in different fields, yet complimentary in knowledge and with relevant mentalities.

We believe that the period we are living in calls for extraordinary solutions, and by engaging in this program we want to form a proto-network cultivating transnational exchange within the European context; a process that will inspire and provide ideas for solutions in the challenges each organization faces and help build skills and capacities we wouldn’t think of developing on our own- individually but also together. Eventually, profiting by the plethora of the genius loci involved, each of the constituent organizations will become stronger within their local realities and the communities involved will be motivated to act within this emerging network.

Let by the German Association Project House Potsdam — Inwole , the project features a mobility and exchange program between the leader, Italia che Cambia , ImWandel Berlin (Berlin, Germany), Ethos (Thessaloniki, Greece) , Ethos (Denmark) , Open Cultural Center (OCC), (Barcelona, Spain) , Group for Conceptual Politics — GCP (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Communitism (Athens, Greece)

Having started in October 2021 until December 2023 , representatives of the eight organizations will be visiting each other in their respective locations in 6 countries, in order to experience each other’s environment and the nature of their work, with the expectation to track the common aspects of our practices.

While Project House Potsdam — Inwole offers an experience of 22 years in collective housing solutions , Italia che Cambia offers a media platform connecting all the grassroots projects and intiatives of Italy and ImWandel Berlin offers a platform for sustainability within the grassroots initiatives. Communitism brings in a practice of an experimental model for alternative professionalism and economy in the Athenian context and the Group for Conceptual politics promotes political action , motivating citizens in the fields of self-governance and peace politics in Serbia. Open Cultural Center integrates displaced people in the local society of Barcelona while Ethos, both in Greece and Germany has been devotedly promoting social integration, sustainable development and social entrepreneurship .

Although approved since June of 2020, Covid-19 regulations did not allow for our project to develop as planned. The eight non profit organizations had to engage for a year in online exchanges, yet we were finally able to meet in person in October 2021 in Berlin. The second visit happened in Athens in April 2022 and the consortium is now preparing to meet in Mantova, hosted by Italia Che Cambia.

We are looking forward to continue with our exchanges in the rest of the locations and discover the endless possibilities this project has to offer to our association !More than anything, we aspire to watch some new , strong and creative communities emerge !
