This was a surprise!

I wasn’t expecting it to happen.

I wish it were some other story that got boosted.

Not because this one is bad, but because I have so many better ones, and this one was used to announce the writing challenge that was current at that moment, but had already finished by the time this story got boosted.

In this text, I will present what happened.

I was promoting the 1st division publication’s first writing challenge, and I wrote a story that invited the reader to go check out the original article with a writing prompt.

But after it got boosted, I edited the story, just by adding a link to the new, current writing challenge at the beginning of the story, without changing it in any way.

So what exactly happened?

This story was created on 22.12.2025. and was boosted somewhere around January 10th this year, when the presentation counter just started rising as I’ve never seen before.

It kept the tempo for a week, then dropped a little, got up for a few more days, and eventually stopped at 4.3K presentations.

I’m glad one of my stories got boosted, but as I already said, I have much better ones.

This one didn’t even have good stats with the read ratio at just 35%.

I have many better stories with much better stats as well, with a feed clickthrough rate of 12%+ and a read ratio of 60%+.

So why exactly this one got boosted, I can only guess.

But I’ve learned that the story could get boosted at any time even if you’re a new writer on the platform.

I’ve finally seen the ‘your readers' interests’ section in the stats.

Boosting took place almost a month after publishing this story.

And this slight boost I’ve experienced gave me motivation and hope to repeat again in the future.

I wish that the next time it happens, it will be a stronger story that will have much better chances of performing and continuing the boost for a longer time.

The fact is, this story had a function, to lead the interested readers to the writing challenge.

It was never written or meant for boosting, but obviously there was a reason for it to happen.

So maybe the most valuable lesson is to write like you are getting boosted in the next hours!

Think of it as something possible to happen every moment.

Definitely, despite my better stories still waiting to be brought to life, I liked this cause it made me feel noticed.

It made me feel like an active member of all of this.

My frustration got me into thinking this idea was great, but it turns out it’s not.

I’ve come up with an idea that I find brilliant, and I would really appreciate it if you’d take the time to read it and share your thoughts about it.

Since there are many people here who go around clapping and highlighting stories without reading them, expecting engagement in return, I find this very frustrating and detrimental to the algorithm and distribution chances for my stories.

This morning I woke up to see several notifications on my latest story — members clapping and highlighting — and the stats are showing only 1 read from members, resulting in 20% member read ratio. So, the same old story once again.

I’ve come up with this idea on my way to work, which I believe is very simple and efficient and would solve many problems:

The user can clap, highlight and respond to the story only and only then when the story has been read.

What do we get with this?

• No clapping and highlighting through random stories
• No frustration for the writer, but the other way around, for the people and bots who continue to do so
• Better and more accurate stats
• Much less automated engagement from bots
