Introduction and Welcome

We’re thrilled to announce the recent appointment of Greg Lukosek, who is joining the Ethereum Worlds team as our new Chief Technology & Product Officer (CTPO). With over a decade of experience in Unity development and authoring several books on the subject, Greg brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our organization.

As mentioned above, Greg has authored several books on Unity development, which have become essential reading for anyone interested in this field. He also has an impressive track record of developing cross-platform games, including some incredibly successful titles that have captured the imaginations of gamers and Unity enthusiasts from around the world.

It is worth noting that Ethereum Towers is constructed using Unity, and our design partner of more than 9 months, Unity Developers, previously appointed Greg as their Lead Developer. This extensive familiarity with our product, coupled with his expertise in Unity development, is expected to facilitate more efficient communication between our teams when developing solutions for our Metaverse and its ecosystem.

We’re confident that Greg’s skills, experience, and leadership will be a significant asset to our team as we continue to build and expand our platform. With his guidance, we’re excited to take Ethereum Towers to the next level and deliver even more value to our users.

To help our community become better acquainted Greg, we had a chat with him. Here are some highlights from our conversation:

Interview

ET: What has been your journey prior to this appointment?

Greg: I have been computer programming since I was 8 years old. This passion led me to becoming one of the first developers in the Unity space, so I guess you could say I am a veteran of the industry. I have lectured at Universities and written three books on Unity and Programming. I have headed up many successful international Unity teams. Most recently, I have been the Lead Developer for Oculus-Approved; Unity Developers, and this is where I started working with the Ethereum Worlds Team on their genesis project; Ethereum Towers.

ET: What attracted you to joining our project on a more permanent basis?

Greg: Ethereum Worlds is building something special, and they are working diligently to bring cutting-edge functionality in front of the user in VR and Web-based applications. I was thrilled to take up the opportunity to join them on this journey.

ET: What have you enjoyed working on with us so far?

Greg: Developing and designing new VR features that have not been tried or tested before, which will bring a true Metaverse closer to the non-gaming user. I have enjoyed coordinating development efforts across the wider teams of the project. I have also really relished the opportunity to design the architecture and data structure behind the core systems of the Ethereum Towers platform.

ET: What are you most looking forward to working on in the future?

Greg: It’s great to be a part of the ongoing expansion and development of Ethereum Towers and the wider Ethereum Worlds ecosystem. What intrigues me the most about the Metaverse is its focus on community involvement, rather than solely being game-centric. I am drawn to the possibility of constructing a dynamic space that appeals to a broad spectrum of people.

ET: Any final thoughts?

Greg: Thrilled about the possibilities that the Ethereum Towers Metaverse can unlock. The idea of creating an immersive virtual world where users can interact and experience a whole new dimension of digital engagement is exciting to me. I’m a big fan of ET. And like the rest of the community, I’m eager to see how this new frontier of the blockchain ecosystem evolves.

The Story So Far…

Since the inception of our Centers of Excellence for Art & Community, Ryan the founder of the initiative and Tom our Partnerships Director have worked tirelessly to showcase up and coming and established artists and influential voices in the Web3 space. From artists to founders, thought leaders to movie producers, we have an array of talent spanning many genres taking up their home in our Metaverse. We’re sure our Artists in Residence floor will be overflowing with creativity for our Apartment owners to experience and enjoy first-hand when they (virtually) move in. And as a natural progression to this, we are proud to announce Centers of Excellence Season Two.

Season Two

For Season Two, we will be building on the foundations of Season One but adding in a few key changes. Firstly, we’ll be saying a fond farewell to Ryan our first Twitter Spaces host, he’s taking a step back from the role and in his place will be his counterpart; Partnerships Director Tom. Tom’s passion for the initiative is undeniably infectious and we’ll sure he’ll do a great job taking the reins. We are also introducing extra incentives for the artists and those engaging with the content created as part of this reboot.

What’s New?

COE Vault

To show our commitment to the CoE Artists and Creators, we will be introducing a vault that will hold curated NFT pieces by the participants. This will stand as a gallery and time capsule dedicated to the talented contributors to the initiative as well as pieces from other artists when opportunities arise.

Rewards

To encourage attendance to the new look Twitter Spaces, we are adding a number of opportunities for those listening in and supporting. We will be giving ‘limited time’ POAPs to those that attend CoE live events as well as a monthly raffle ticket draw to win Apartment NFTs as part of the proceedings, there may even be Luxury Apartments up for grabs…

In addition to this, there will be an ‘End of Season’ prize pool consisting of Art and Apartments for regular listeners that have collected a required amount of POAPs. To keep our community up to date with news and developments of the CoE, we will be creating a Discord specifically for the initiative. This will include announcements of new artists and thought leaders as well as times, dates and links to the Spaces themselves.

As the year comes to a close, we at Ethereum Worlds are grateful for the many opportunities and accomplishments that have come our way in 2022. The Ethereum Worlds Team, along with its advisors and partners, have worked tirelessly on the project to ensure its success. They have travelled the globe to spread the word of our forthcoming Metaverse. As we look ahead to what 2023 has in store, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past year and share with our community some of our standout moments from 2022. Let’s call it Ethereum Worlds Wrapped!

One of the most significant developments in our ecosystem has been the continued progress of the Ethereum Worlds Metaverse, and more specifically; the Ethereum Towers project (our genesis project). After moving from Proof-of-Concept (PoC) to prototype earlier this year, we seamlessly jumped from milestone to milestone, sharing graphics and video footage as we progressed. This has continued up until most recently where we showcased our Luxury and Penthouse Apartments in VR.

Now with beta testing underway, we are currently undertaking closed internal testing. Upon completion of this internal testing, we plan to conduct an additional series of closed and open beta tests early in 2023. The cumulative results of the testing will continue to be shared with our community, and we look forward to expanding the reach of our platform through the public beta testing.

In addition to the progress on the Metaverse protocol itself, we were also thrilled with the completion of the first iteration of the Ethereum Worlds Companion App. This web-based app will enable residents and visitors to interact with the Ethereum Worlds ecosystem when they are not exploring the Metaverse itself. This custom-built platform will make it easier to access, navigate, and interact with the Metaverse and the greater ecosystem as a whole.

During 2022, we have also had the privilege of speaking at various events around the world, including London, Paris, Dubai, San Diego, Banff, Croatia, Miami and New York. We were honored to be included in a16z’s list of top 30 Metaverse land sales and to have an advertisement on the iconic New York Times Square. This was an incredible experience to be able to share our vision and progress with such a wide audience and even more rewarding was the fact that some community members attended the premier with us.

Over the year we have had several changes to our organization, this includes the recruitment of Adam as our Marketing Director, and Tom as our Partnerships Director. Both Adam and Tom bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their roles, and they have already made a significant impact on our organization, notably Tom’s Center of Excellence initiative and Adam’s Medium and podcast efforts.

Sadly this year, we have said goodbye to our dear friend and Community Director; Emma. While we are sad to see Emma depart, we are grateful that both Anna and KT have taken on many of her responsibilities and duties. They have both done an excellent job in maintaining the high level of service and support that our community has come to expect. We wish Emma the very best in her future endeavours as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life. Hopefully our paths will cross again soon, perhaps even in the Metaverse.

To conclude, despite the challenges that have come with the current market conditions, we have remained committed to our progress and are eagerly anticipating the release of our open beta testing in the new year. We are grateful for the support and engagement of our community and stakeholders as we continue to work towards the official release our Metaverse MVP. After months of dedicated work on our minimum viable product (MVP), we can now showcase our Luxury and Penthouse Apartments. This noteworthy Medium article will reveal what our premium Apartment owners will be able to experience once they’ve received access.

Luxury Apartments

With only 396 Luxury Apartments available in Ethereum Towers, these really are a rarity within the Towers. There are a total of 396 Luxury Apartments available across both towers and are found exclusively in the corners on floors #1 to #99. Owners of these virtual spaces will enjoy stunning corner Apartment views from their floor-to-ceiling windows. Boasting over 84 feet in length and over 59 feet in width, residents and visitors will enjoy 2.5x the floor space than a Standard Apartment; perfect for virtual get togethers.

This extra space will give countless opportunities for subdivision and customization to create the perfect space for the discerning Metaverse property investor. In fact, the benefits of Luxury ownership don’t stop there, as there are additional ecosystem benefits awarded to Luxury Apartment owners including early access and increased multipliers. Lucky them!

In the VR footage below, the spaciousness of Luxury Apartments is evident. While viewing this in-world demonstration, the user can be seen placing walls and adding accessories to create the desired environment. Also shown is a custom piece of art created by Kris K (the artist behind the Bull Market Girlfriend project), and will be free to all Apartment holders as part of our collection of free standard assets.

Note. There are additional artists in the pipeline that will be contributing exclusive pieces for use by all residents.

The Penthouse

As with most real world Apartment buildings, the most desirable units are located at the top of the structure, and Ethereum Towers is no different. Seen as the pinnacle real estate asset within the ecosystem, there are only 32 Penthouses available across both towers. This sprawling two-story unit is approximately 3x times larger than the Luxury Apartment and is found exclusively on floors #100 & #101. Each floor consists of only 8 Penthouses.

Each Penthouse comes with a second story mezzanine floor and are the only units available with this 2-story feature. They are the crème de la crème of the aspirational Metaverse space; ideal for whales, DAOs, communities, and high-flying organizations.

From a wide open floor plan to a space with well-defined areas, there are many design options available to Penthouse owners. The example below showcases the mezzanine floor which allows for numerous guests at any one time; a supersized, multi-level space that is perfect for work and entertainment.

Introduction

Introducing version #2 of the Ethereum Worlds Metaverse Whitepaper. While we encourage everyone to read the full version, we also wanted to created this Medium article to highlight some of the more impactful changes and key milestones that have been introduced.

Background

Ethereum Towers released its first Whitepaper back in October of 2021, and since that release, we’ve made a number of amendments to the project direction as it has evolved. This evolution has led to a revised roadmap and list of milestones which are detailed in the new Whitepaper. We hope that you find this comprehensive document informative and easy to read, while still providing more technical content for those looking to dig a little deeper.

The first item of note is the Metaverse Companion App. This stand-alone web application will be available on all browsers and mobile devices and has been designed with ease-of-use and simplicity in mind.

One key feature of the Companion App is to generate an Ethereum Worlds profile. This profile will include the managing of your Avatar through an embedded Ready Player Me portal, the sharing of your socials, and adding a descriptive bio. In addition, it will feature a custom-built storefront and marketplace, facilitating the purchase and trading of rare and desirable in-world items.

We have occasionally touched on the highly-customizable nature of each Apartment. And as such, we wanted to ensure all users, regardless of gaming or coding proficiency, would be able to utilize this new Creator Tool with very little instruction. So, we set out to make one of the most simple and intuitive Creator Tools in the industry.

Using simple point-and-click controls, your Avatar can make use of our grid system to build walls, move furniture, and accessorize to your heart’s content. We are confident that whether you are 9 years old, or 90, you will be able to easily customize your Apartment within minutes. This will be the all-in-one tool that Residents use to personalize their Apartment space.

In order to govern the in-world economy effectively and efficiently, we plan to launch an in-world utility token called $TWR. The token will enable a number of transactions and interactions, and will be tightly linked to the governance structure within the Ethereum Worlds ecosystem. We have shared more detail regarding a second blockchain being used; Polygon. This further embeds $TWR’s multi-chain approach and the Whitepaper explores the difference between these two chains and their uses.

Of course, when you purchase a new Apartment in real life, the first thing that you want to do is decorate it, to put your personal stamp on it… and your virtual Apartment will be no different. With this in mind, we have created hundreds of free Standard catalog items for use in Apartment design, giving creators thousands of unique and custom design options.

The Ethereum Worlds Metaverse will also feature a variety of Collectibles. These are rare or unusual items that are scarce in supply and that are also tokenized as NFTs on the Polygon blockchain. These tokenized Collectible NFTs will initially be available via the Ethereum Worlds Store and the Ethereum Worlds Vault (mentioned below).

The ‘Vault’ is a new feature that we’ve created to give users access to exclusive and unique accessories (tokenized as NFTs). The concept is simple. There are a fixed number of vaults, and each vault contains randomized, rare Collectibles that are only available via the vault. More details on this mechanic in the Whitepaper itself.
