INTRODUCING APOSTLE

An Audio-Visual Alphabet by HyperConstruct

TOTEMS AS TOKENS: DYNAMIC VISUAL KEY CODES REPRESENTING AN AUDIO-SENSORY IMPRESSION OF WORDS.

HyperConstruct re-envisions the Roman alphabet by extracting the essence of each letter’s sounds to cultivate their translation into basic geometric shapes.

The result is the cryptic alphabet, Apostle (meaning messenger, or envoy). A visually enriched reinterpretation of the English pronunciations of our programming keys of language.

ON APOSTLE’S CONSTRUCTION

HyperConstruct’s original letterforms emerged with the meticulous use of basic shapes, as foundational geometry exudes a timeless nature.

By using basic geometrical shapes, a vast and varied field of visual data is provided, which allows enough room for the viewer to play with their own perception while observing the abstract, foreign nature of the Apostle alphabet. There may appear to be a sense of the mystical, mythological, the ancient or deeply ancestral, perhaps even foreign, alien, or futuristic.

Whether it be ultra modern to some, formidably tribal or sublimely primal to others, maybe sanctimonious or even sacrilegious. The viewer’s perception of sensory data becomes a part of the conscious deciphering of the art’s meaning and impact. The range of information received among many can be extensive, proving the visual power and personal relevance of what some would call, sacred geometry. This is similarly true of the nature of cryptic symbology.

The final written words in Apostle reveal our bridge of interpretation between harmonious yet dynamic visual patterns and the invisible field of vocal sound.

Synesthesia, seeing sounds.

The interwoven nature of any given written word in the Apostle alphabet unfolds a rich sequence of visual information.

As each phonetic sound of the alphabet is assigned a symbol, these aesthetically enhanced patterns are thus drawn from patterns of sound, and so more accurately represent the nature of the sound of words in visual form.

AUDIO + VISUAL SPECTRUMS

The choice of colour spectrums are also part of the psycho-sensory experience of HyperConstruct’s cryptographic artworks, as colour and sound share the language of tone, wavelength, vibration and frequency.

This piece called Extraordinary, demonstrates how vividly provocative information, such as a harmonious colour spectrum, may filter into and awaken other psycho-sensory parts of the mind or memory banks.

This candy-flavoured colour scape, suggestive of an awe-inspiring, heaven-scented sunset, would be deserving of the sound of one’s own voice saying, “extraordinary”.

KEY CODES: THE FINAL WORD.

The purpose of HyperConstruct’s Apostle is not to reinvent the alphabet, but to reinforce the metaphysical power of written words based on the aim that their visual nature would be felt and experienced in the same way their sound patterns resonate in feeling when voiced and heard.

What is unearthed from observing the final formation of words, are abstract shapes and characters evocative of the life of the human being.

From simple geometric forms is the emergence of abstract outlines and silhouettes of the human body, the configuration of angels, the formation of eyes, the comforting structures of homes, or animals, occasionally mountain sides and valleys, and celestial spheres positioned above. Of cups, crops and sustenance, of highly decorated spears and shields.

These symbols suggest the universal themes of legend and folklore, such as the life of the natural human being concentrated on the most vital of values and virtues: Purpose and protection, sovereignty and faith, courage and honour, love and nourishment. Ultimately, it is to be united with community, nature and a higher power. Of which are the very messages HyperConstruct aims to exhibit with Apostle through our bespoke digital artworks. Although visual and anecdotal concepts of our artworks may vary to explore Apostle’s creative potential, words are chosen carefully to remain true to such universal themes of legend and virtue, hence the term totem.

Although they may stir a sense of unease due to their cryptic and deeply symbolic constitution, these totems serve as reminders of the power of words and how your personal use of words generates the construction of our shared reality. Every word adds to the rich living tapestry that we choose to embed in the fabric of time and space, and today, to embed within the blockchain too. So may you choose your words wisely. HyperConstruct exists to do the same.
