A few questions answered.

Q: Where should I mint my NFT?

A: Polygon has an excellent service. Solana and Cardano are also popular. WAX has a great system, and it’s very fast, and very cheap.

The most famous NFTs are usually on the Ethereum chain. However, I DO NOT use the Ethereum block chain at all if I can avoid it.

Q: What’s so bad about Ethereum?

A: To put it simply, the cost. Fees are charged for ever single action, and gas often costs more than the token transfer or conversion. The Ethereum chain priced itself in a way that only people moving $100s of thousands of dollars could afford the steep fees.

Currently, to move $13 of USDC from one wallet to another is $16.

Rendering the entire blockchain useless unless you’ve got half a fortune in it. Any blockchain or decentralized network that encourages elitism breaks the basic tenants of blockchain philosophy.

Blockchains have always claimed to have lofty goals of furthering democracy, ending poverty, eliminating identity crime, and more. Seldom have they lived up to these ideas. Elitism is anathema. This cost of operating the Ethereum blockchain has completely separated it from its stated goals.

Here’s an excellent article published over the summer by MIT about the importance of ethics in using blockchain technology.

Q: How do I create NFTs?

A: first, I only use NFT markets on blockchains that are actually affordable to all users. Not just the ludicrously priced Ether, many chains that also run a copy of the Ethereum Virtual Machine seems to find themselves limited in the same way.

OpenSea on the Polygon Network charges no fees for the creation of NFTs. Gas and fees for a transaction with MATIC takes 100s to actually equal a penny in USD. OpenSea’s free mibting isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. NFTs must be minted one at time, wnd the use of templates is not supported.

In the current NFT and blockchain environment, there is no reason for fees to ever be an issue. XLM always charges $0.00004 USD for sending currency. Polygon’s fees are very similar. If these chains can manage this, so can others. There are a number of blockchains capable of advanced minting now, very cheaply.

Jack Lhasa

jacklhasa.nft

Last edited on 10/27/2022

Now that you’ve got a wallet, let’s put it to use. Use the browser inside Trust and navigate to OpenSea.io. Make sure the network is set to Polygon. You can do this with the little icon on top, left.(circled on the image)

Here, click on profile and use your Trust Wallet to create an account. Now you can browse NFTs, send or receive them. Or sell them.

Hidden

Your profile should have a tab called ‘hidden.’ Check it for your recent award. On the desktop site, you can remove NFTs from ‘hidden’ easily. Make sure you have a native Web3 browser(like Opera, Brave, or Aloha). Safari and Chrome will work if an extension is installed.

You will find airdrops in the ‘hidden’ tab every now and again. Bonuses that I send to Award holders will also appear as hidden by default. You’re also likely to find an occasional free NFT under that tab. These are rarely worth much, monetarily, but they’re a nice surprise.

A Little more on OpenSea

OpenSea accepts a variety of cryptocurrencies for NFTs on its marketplace. They also operate on several major blockchains. Ethereum, Polygon. Solana, and several other tokens could be necessary.

For those looking to start creating NFTs, OpenSea offers a free minting utility. Compared to other groups who offer minting services, this is a HUGE bonus.

Jack

jacklhasa.nft

Last edited : 10/27/2022

You’ll probably have several at one point or another.

Download Trust Wallet from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Trust is a mobile-only wallet.

Without any changes to functionality, Trust manages to run seamlessly the large variety of blockchains, currency, dApps, and NFTs. As soon as the wallet is created, you’ll see any NFTs you purchase or receive under the NFT heading.

Upon Launch, follow the instructions to setup your new wallet. When shown your secret phrase, be sure to write it down and put it somewhere safe. Be sure to backup your new wallet.

Now, navigate to the ‘Browser’ tab. Enter https://OpenSea.io. Choose to create an account linked to your Trust Wallet. Make sure the public key displayed in OpenSea is the correct key(Yours).

After connecting your wallet, you’ll have access to the largest NFT marketplace. It’s an interesting space to explore. Here, you may set up a profile. Setting up a profile and linking a wallet will allow you to use all of the tools provided by OpenSea. From favoriting to buying and selling.

It’s a pretty intuitive set up.

If you already have a wallet, this page can tell you how to import it to Trust.

Trust identifies new NFTs within seconds of purchasing. Trust supports many NFT standards, including the most well known, ERC-721, ERC-1155. If you don’t see your NFT’s image displayed, it’s likely still in the process of being distributed on IPFS.

Trust Wallet contains no ads. No tracking cookies. Clean, secure. Lightweight but feature rich.

You can purchase cryptocurrency in Trust Wallet through a number of very popular services. You can access DeFi, dApps, NFTs, decentralized websites and decentralized email.

(Continued with OpenSea set up)

Jack

jacklhasa.nft

Last edited on 10/26/2022

Hi, I’m Jack.

I have over 20 years experience as a writer, editor, and in nearly every other job in the industry.

When I was young, I enjoyed art, but it was not something that came naturally. Around 2010, I learned how to create in-game objects for IMVU and Second Life. I even had pretty good sales.

A decade later, and I started playing in the graphic design tools again. After a few months on creating images, I started to produce images at a quality that I think holds up.

I knew I wanted to share my best creations. I toyed with setting up my images as sports cards. A consistent design to use with original art. Sets with uniformity.

This still plays a role in some designs, and I do hope to release a set framed like trading cards.

I minted a few dozen NFTs, and sent them to a few separate wallets. This is how I got the problems under control. There were some wallets that never received NFTs that had been sent. Cutting away these third party problems has been difficult.

However, NFTs were the obvious best choice. Especially on the Polygon Network. No fees to create. And that’s when I decided I was going to start a serious, for real, Award series.

And here we are.

Jack

jacklhasa.nft

Last edited on 10/27/2022

The NFT comes in the form of an award certificate, with some of my art features to one side.

I will be awarding these customized, personal NFTs via public Twitter message. Twice a day.

Order of minting does not reflect any sort of rating. I literally pulled the names out of a hat.

For those who have problems with crypto, there’s no need to worry. You should save the award when I present it. I will hold awards that are not claimed in trust, in case anyone gets into the NFT field and wants it.

You determine your involvement.

There are no fees involved. Award winners don’t have to pay for any part of it. It wouldn’t be much of an award if they did.

Anyone who claims the NFT with a Polygon wallet or an [OpenSea](https://opensea.io) account will find surprise gifts related to their award occasionally. These might come in the form of variants, original designs, and more.

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be publishing more about my experiences, and following this set’s appeal closely.

Jack Lhasa

jacklhasa.nft

Last edited on 10/01/2022
