Founded by Jamie Ritblat, who serves as company chairman, Delancey Real Estate has completed several award-winning developments across the UK capital. The company is a proud supporter of several charities and causes, including The Listening Place, a charity that was established to provide adults struggling with suicidal thoughts and feelings with much-needed support.

The Listening Place follows a rigorous selection and training programme for every volunteer, providing them with the training and practical tools needed to support adults experiencing suicidal thoughts. Launched in 2016, The Listening Place operates across three London sites, having recruited and trained 1,400 volunteers, enabling them to accept over 20,000 visitor referrals. Delancey Real Estate’s in-kind support has helped the charity train its dedicated volunteers, in turn ensuring that The Listening Place can continue to expand its reach and impact, delivering critical support to service users free of charge. As Sarah Anderson — CEO and founder of The Listening Place — suggests, Delancey Real Estate’s support is contributing to ‘truly helping to save lives.’

Offering free face-to-face support for people who, for whatever reason, feel that their lives are no longer worth living, The Listening Place encourages people to come forward and talk about their feelings openly, providing a safe space where they can speak without judgement. The Listening Place is always on the lookout for people who can spare the time to give warm, empathetic, caring and non-judgemental advice to the charity’s service users.

Shockingly, in the UK today, suicide is the leading cause of death of men aged 49 or younger. In addition, there has also been an alarming increase in women experiencing suicidal thoughts. For just £3 a month, The Listening Place’s supporters can make a real difference in people’s lives, helping to cover the cost of face-to-face, live-enhancing and potentially life-saving support. The charity is also heavily reliant on the generosity of fundraisers, who stage a variety of different activities to raise vital funding for the charity.

Recognising its responsibility to make a positive contribution benefiting both its stakeholders and the community at large, Delancey Real Estate continuously strives to identify new ways to make much-needed financial and in-kind contributions. The company is proud to give to numerous charities and causes, including The Listening Place, with the support provided ranging from direct donations and the provision of rent free-premises to complimentary consultancy services, staff volunteering and participation in fundraising events.

To support the charity, Andrew Osborne rowed more than 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. Mr Osborne became involved with CRY in 2018 after the charity provided his family with support following the death of his daughter Amy, who died from an undiagnosed heart condition.

Delancey Real Estate founder Jamie Ritblat said the company was proud to sponsor the boat for the event, describing Mr Osborne’s achievement as ‘an amazing feat of bravery and resilience.’ Andrew Osborne embarked on the journey with the goal of raising £100,000 in funding for CRY, completing some 1.5 million oar strokes to cross the Atlantic. At times, his closest human contacts were astronauts orbiting the Earth overhead aboard the International Space Station. For several months prior to the event, Mr Osborne trained with Olympic rowing champion James Cracknel. In addition to his own funding efforts, Andrew Osborne’s daughters had also raised funds for the charity by running marathons and climbing mountains.

Andrew Osborne had originally intended to cross the Atlantic by sailboat, until someone suggested that idea sounded more like a holiday. Mr Osborne described the death of his daughter Amy from arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy as a tragedy for him and his family.

CRY chief executive Dr Steven Cox said that the charity was privileged to receive inspiring support from families such as Amy’s, who know all too well the pain of losing a loved one to sudden cardiac death. Dr Cox said he always admires how these bereaved families can channel their own traumatic experiences to prevent others suffering similar loss.

Mr Osborne finally arrived in Antigua after almost 80 days at sea, celebrating his epic fundraising effort with a well-deserved beer. Family and friends were waiting for him in Falmouth Harbour, eager to greet him and celebrate his extraordinary achievement.

Not all of Andrew Osborne’s journey across the Atlantic was plain sailing. Indeed, the adventure proved incredibly challenging at times. Mr Osborne was pitched against blistering heat, rough winds and testing periods when he seemed to almost come to a standstill. Nevertheless, he was rewarded with some incredible sights throughout the journey, including bioluminescence, huge pods of dolphins and incredible sunsets. Jamie Ritblat said it had been a pleasure for Delancey Real Estate to support Mr Osborne in raising both awareness and vital funds for such an important cause.

This article will explore the issue of responsible investment in more detail, as well as outlining Delancey Real Estate’s commitment to driving positive change as part of its ESG protocols and policies.

Responsible investment involves factoring ESG issues into investment decisions. Complementing traditional portfolio construction and financial analysis techniques, responsible investment can be implemented to achieve different objectives. For example, some investors aim to generate financial returns while simultaneously achieving positive outcomes for the planet and humankind, while for others their primary focus is profit, weighing up ESG issues that could impact financial returns. The fundraiser saw Andrew Osborne row more than 3,000 miles across the Atlantic, supporting the charity that helped his family after his daughter Amy died from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2018. The attached PDF contains more information about CRY and the organisation’s lifesaving work providing free heart scans for individuals aged up to 35 years old.

A Profile of Cardiac Risk in the Young

Jamie Ritblat, founder of Delancey Real Estate, explained that the company was incredibly proud to sponsor such an amazing feat of bravery and resilience. Embarking on the journey with the mission of raising £100,000 for CRY, Mr Osborne made some 1.5 million oar strokes across the Atlantic, when at times his closest human contacts were astronauts orbiting earth on the International Space Station. Mr Osborne trained for several months with the help of James Cracknell, Olympic rowing champion. In addition to his fundraising efforts, Andrew Osborne said that his daughters had also been raising money for the charity by climbing mountains and running marathons.

With a keen love of the sea, Andrew Osborne originally intended to make the journey across the Atlantic by sailboat, until someone pointed out that it sounded more like a holiday. Mr Osborne explained that the death of his daughter Amy, who died from arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, had been a tragedy for him and his family.

After almost 80 days at sea, Andrew Osborne finally arrived in Antigua, celebrating his epic fundraising effort to raise funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young with a well deserved beer. He was greeted by family and friends, who were eagerly waiting to greet him in Falmouth Harbour to celebrate his extraordinary achievement. The attached infographic provides some interesting statistics on charitable giving throughout 2023.

Charitable Giving Statistics for 2023

Andrew Osborne’s adventure was an incredibly challenging, and not all of the journey was plain sailing, pitching him against rough winds, blistering heat and galling periods when he seemed to come to a complete standstill. Nevertheless, Mr Osborne was rewarded with some unforgettable moments, including huge pods of dolphins, incredible sunsets and bioluminescence. Jamie Ritblat said it had been Delancey Real Estate’s pleasure to support Mr Osborne in raising awareness and vital funds for such an important cause.
