Key points of the Crankk project

Crankk is a decentralized predominantly open-source IoT project driven by the community with a focus on Proof-of-Network-Participation (PoNP). It runs on an existing blockchain called Kadena and Crankk is a token on the Kadena network. All radio and data transactions are fully on-chain and publicly visible. With an unmatched level of security and flexibility, Crankk utilizes smart contracts and a Proof-of-Trust (PoT) consensus mechanism to revolutionize supply chain tracking and peer-to-peer communication.

The ©rank(k) ranking system incentives high-quality and reliable services on the Crankk network, ensuring that only the best gateways receive the greatest rewards. The ranking algorithm is based not only on the location (there are no hexagons), but also on an average node uptime, network bandwidth, successful transaction processing, unique communication, and data traffic.

An internal DEX (Decentralized Exchange) is a decentralized exchange platform built and maintained by the Crankk team within the ecosystem of the Kadena blockchain network. It allows users to trade CRKK tokens securely, privately, and faster, as it eliminates the need to move assets to and from other blockchains and exchanges.

The team has exciting plans on the horizon, including the upcoming launch of a mobile app for managing Crankk nodes, expanding the network to new regions, adding more hardware options, sensors, rewards boost, and gamification as well as Oracle, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and CDN nodes.

With the rise of interest in the Kadena Ecosystem, unfortunately, this brings the rise of individuals who try to take advantage of the community. It is important to use good practice when investing in any project and whenever you are interacting with the ecosystem. Below you will find some helpful tips that will help you stay safe when navigating the chain web.

1. Always do your own research before investing in any project.

Users are quick to jump into the next potential opportunity to 10x their investments but it is important to research the project, its founders, and roadmap thoroughly before putting your hard-earned money into it. Do not just invest in something simply because you saw your favorite influencer shilling the project or if the project has a large following on social media.

2. Do not invest more than you can afford to lose.

Investing into volatile markets like crypto can be very risky, but regardless if you are investing into something deemed as ‘safe’ or ‘risky’ it is important to invest as much as you are okay with losing, this removes any emotional attachment from the investment and eliminates emotions, allowing the investor to make reliable decisions.

3. Never ever give out your private keys or seed phrase(s).

There will never be a case where you will need to provide support with any of this information. Make sure when you are searching for support with an application, you are entering the support via the official website link or any affiliated official links that the project provides. Representatives from these projects will not DM you first, especially asking for sensitive information

4. Stay away from scammers

While this is easier said than done, scammers are becoming more and more sophisticated, day by day. When receiving a suspicious email or message be sure to double-check the sending address, or if you are unsure yourself, do not reply or ask a friend to double-check. Most of the time, representatives will not message you first or send you any suspicious links.

5. Not your keys, not your crypto

One of the main selling points of crypto is that you are in control of your own funds. This is a gentle reminder that in many centralized exchanges and custodial wallets, these companies have access to your funds in the fine print. Do not store your seed phrases on your phone as a screenshot or notes, this leaves you susceptible to hackers who may have a good reason to access your data and crypto.

6. Protect yourself with 2fa and strong passwords

Strong passwords contain upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols. The best passwords are 32 characters or more. Do not store your passwords online in a keychain or in a note on your phone, this leaves your data subject to data leaks which can be out of your control.

7. Be an active member of the community

One of the best parts about crypto is the community that comes along with it. These are individuals that share many of the same values as yours and can be found all over the world. By remaining active, you can help look out for members and vice versa. Many times a member of the community may catch something about a project that they are unsure of and eventually lead to saving users from being involved in a project that could be rugged.

This program is mostly set for individuals, but teams and organizations working on blockchain projects can also apply for grant funds. In addition to building dApps, infrastructure, and important tools, we encourage content creators and thought leaders to apply as well. These grants are designed to help grow the Kadena community, encourage engagement and fund projects and individuals that are focused on creating meaningful and lasting change in the blockchain space.

Our team at Kadena Ecosystem is committed to providing support for the development of innovative blockchain-based projects on Kadena and making a positive impact in the industry. We hope that the Community Grants Program helps to make this dream a reality and encourages more people to explore the potential of Kadena & its innovative technology.

To apply for the Kadena Community Grant, please explain how your project will stimulate Kadena’s growth and promote the goals of the Kadena ecosystem through the application found here. Our team will review all grant applications and may request additional information or schedule a call with the applicant team if necessary. We will notify applicants via email about the status of their proposal typically, within 1 week.

Our team will be doing the first round of grants in this application format to better understand grant proposals, forms, and ways to improve in the future. When it comes to candidates — our priorities include: documentation, code development, Kadena infographics, educational videos, tutorials, etc.

In order to remain transparent with the community, we plan on disclosing grantees, and sharing their effectiveness once the program is complete. There will be good ideas, poor execution, and the same other way around, but we plan on helping grantees in all areas where our experience lies in addition to monetary support. Our mission is to grow the Kadena ecosystem in the best way we can, this first round of grantees will be focused within the ecosystem, followed by bounty-hunting other chains for projects & teams to migrate over to Kadena.

Applicants must be willing to adopt Kadena’s “build in the open” philosophy by contributing content, tutorials, and product explainers in relevant channels and communities such as Discord, Medium, Stackoverflow and others.

What a year it has been for Kadena!

We have seen astounding growth & development in the ecosystem in the last year. Now that we’ve reached the end of 2022, we want to reflect on what the Kadena community has been able to achieve this past year.

After our inception of our Twitter in November of 2021, we have seen our Kadena family grow to a whopping 13,500+ followers. What a great feeling to create a strong community with a common goal and interest in the ecosystem! We have strived to make @KadenaEcosystem a safe place for conversation, debates, and idea sharing.

In July, we launched our Kadena Ecosystem explorer, a place where users can find information on ALL the projects building in the ecosystem. Since then we have had over 11,000 users visit our site from over 140 countries to check out what’s building on the chainweb!

Over 100 projects have started building on Kadena and counting. We’ve seen teams come & go but we have also seen some great projects build despite market conditions. As a result, the ecosystem has grown immensely compared to last year when there were just a handful of projects building on Kadena. A big shout out to those who keep going and have cemented their place in the ecosystem as pioneers for future builders to learn from.

This past year we were able to meet with so many Kadena team members, project founders & KDA community members over Twitter Spaces. So many great conversations, ideas and feedback were discussed. We held over 60+ Twitter Spaces with Kadena projects, that’s 60+ hours of AMA time!! Can’t forget to mention the 13,000+ listeners who tuned in, asked questions and made the conversations worth while! Thank you to everyone who has tuned in!

There is nothing better than giving back to the community that supports you. This year we were able to connect with some great teams to giveaway loads of prizes & goodies this year to the KDA community! Over 800 $KDA, 7400 $KDL, 36,000 $KDS, 1000 $HYPE were distributed, tons of whitelist spots and lots of NFTs. We were also able to giveaway a Crankk miner & a KDBox Pro!
