The world is loud. As a vocalist, I spend my days navigating sound, but a recent collaboration invited me into a completely different realm: the profound silence of the deep ocean.

My name is LUNATTACK, and I was given a unique challenge: to become the voice of a mermaid for a new, cinematic EP called “OSMOSIS.” This wasn’t about singing a catchy melody; it was about embodying a creature who has never known the surface world. A being whose language is pure feeling.

This is the story of that journey.

The Genesis of a Sonic Ocean: “OSMOSIS”

The world of “OSMOSIS” was born from the minds of two French artists, DeePhi Music and Csyl. DeePhi, an independent artist known for crafting chill beats that soothe the soul, and Csyl, an electronic artist with a history in the Flvctvat collective, joined forces. Together with Mark Schirmacher from Green Key Records, they envisioned a sonic deep-water dive.

Their creation isn’t just a collection of songs; it’s a narrative journey across five tracks, tracing a path from the first call at the surface down into the abyss, and finally, back to the return of light.

It’s fluid. Cinematic. A constant dance between darkness and glow.

Finding the Voice of the Deep on “Mermaid’s Path”

My role in this universe was to voice the track “Mermaid’s Path.” But how do you give voice to something that doesn’t speak in human terms?

The answer wasn’t in technique, but in empathy.

I imagined a being so attuned to her environment that she feels everything with an overwhelming intensity. Her instinct isn’t intellect; it’s pure care. Her communication is an act of deep listening. Her existence is a form of gentle action, a quiet push for a more peaceful world.

My performance couldn’t be a performance. It had to be a channeling — a raw, vulnerable expression of this underwater empathy. It was an exercise in stripping away the ego and letting the soundscape guide me, becoming just one current in a vast, sonic ocean.

“OSMOSIS” is designed to be an immersive experience, and its release is structured as a gradual unfolding. Here is the path:

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who came out to Better Together — Music Without Borders on July 11th at the beautiful @kulturschlosswandsbek. It was an unforgettable unplugged night — evocative, reflective, and truly inspiring.

This concert marked a special moment for me, as I had the joy of presenting a new stage concept with acoustic versions of selected songs from my repertoire, featuring incredible arrangements on acoustic guitar by the talented French musician @lucasghelfi.music. The night was made even more magical thanks to a stunning visual design by the amazing Venezuelan artist Arnaldo Dres González @adozalez.

My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at Kulturschloss Wandsbek — Ainhoa, Uta, and Alex — for their support, as well as to @initiativemusik and @bezirksamt.wandsbek for believing in this project.

Our musical journey transcends borders, as we join forces to create a harmonious blend of melodies that speak a universal language. Music becomes the conduit through which we communicate messages of unity, love, and shared human experiences.

The significance of our collaboration extends beyond the artistic realm, as we aim to bridge cultural gaps and promote a sense of fellowship on the global stage. Through our joint efforts, we aspire to showcase the beauty of diversity and emphasize the common threads that weave through the fabric of humanity.

I’m thrilled to share with you the story behind my latest song, “Fil Rouge,” a collaboration with the incredibly talented French sound artist, DeePhi Music. This musical gem was born during our inspiring time at the esteemed “Producer Camp” held at the legendary Real World Studios in England, owned by none other than the iconic Peter Gabriel.

“Fil Rouge” isn’t just a song; it’s a heartfelt creation that emerged from a place of shared emotions and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those who battle anxiety and depression. The French term “Fil Rouge” translates to “Red Thread,” symbolizing the intricate connections that bind us all together.

As DeePhi Music and I embarked on this creative journey, we aimed to craft more than just a melody. We wanted to weave an auditory experience that could serve as a source of comfort and solace for those grappling with the weight of these challenging emotions. Music, after all, possesses a remarkable ability to heal, uplift, and connect people in ways that words alone sometimes can’t.

We drew inspiration from the serene and rejuvenating atmosphere of the Real World Studios. Surrounded by the tranquil English countryside, we channeled our thoughts and feelings into every note, every chord progression, and every subtle nuance of the song. The result is a composition that’s both ethereal and grounded, uplifting and soothing. Of course, this song would not have been possible without the collaboration of the entire team of musicians, sound engineers and technical team of Real World Studios such as Thrdl!fe (Arranger), Howey Gill (Drums), Justin Adams (Electric Guitar), John Baggott (Piano), John Baggott and DeePhi Music (Modular Synth), Adrian Utley (E Bow) and our part: Lunattack (Lead Vocals) and Barbara Duchow and Delphine Meunier (Composers).

Our motivation was fueled by the thought of all the individuals out there who silently bear the burden of anxiety and depression. We wanted “Fil Rouge” to be a musical reminder that they’re not alone, that there’s a thread of unity connecting all of us, and that even in our darkest moments, there’s a glimmer of hope waiting to be discovered.

We also released a mesmerizing remix version of “Fil Rouge” called the “Angel Edit”, crafted with love by the ingenious DeePhi Music. This reimagined version takes the essence of the original and elevates it to new heights, creating an even more immersive sonic experience.
