Traveling solo can be one of the most liberating experiences in life, especially for women. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s an opportunity to explore the world on your own terms. Among the world’s top destinations, Dubai is one of the safest for solo female travelers. Dubai combines safety, luxury, adventure, and culture for visitors and residents.

A City Where Safety is Everything

One of the first questions any traveler asks is, “Is it safe?” For women traveling alone, safety is often the top priority, and Dubai excels in this area. The city holds the reputation for one of the lowest crime rates in the world, thanks to its strict laws and efficient law enforcement. According to the data for ten Major Crime Statistics shared by Dubai police, the average number is 24.6 per 100,000 people. That’s highly impressive!

When I went on a trip to Dubai as a female solo traveler, I never once felt unsafe, even while strolling the streets late at night.

Women-Dedicated Spaces

When it comes to safety, Dubai goes an extra mile. There are many women-only spaces in the city. For example, certain metro cabins are exclusively for women, with a fine of 100 AED imposed on men upon entering. Another convenient option for commuting is the Pink Taxi service, which is dedicated to women and families.

Other women-only spaces include beaches, gym, and salon services. These initiatives ensure that women feel safe and secure throughout their visit. It’s no wonder that traveling to Dubai consistently ranks high among solo female travelers worldwide.

There’s Something for Everyone

Tourist Attraction:

What makes Dubai stand out is its range of activities that cater to every kind of traveler.

Love luxury? Spend the day shopping at The Dubai Mall, followed by a pampering session at one of the city’s world-class spas. Prefer cultural experiences? Visit the Al Fahidi Historical District, where you can immerse yourself in Emirati heritage and art. Seeking some thrilling adventure? Ski in Dubai’s indoor ski park, Ski Dubai, and even meet penguins while sipping hot chocolate! Or dive from 14,000 feet above with breathtaking views of Palm Jumeirah.

If you prefer to wander at your own pace, neighborhoods like Downtown Dubai and Jumeirah are perfect for strolling.

Effortless Navigation

Dubai’s transportation system is easy to navigate. The Dubai Metro is clean, efficient, and easy to use. Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Careem and Uber are widely available as well. For a more cultural experience, hop on an abra (a traditional wooden boat) to cross Dubai Creek for just 1 AED (US$0.27). You can even pay using your Nol card, Dubai’s metro card.

Email for credits or removal.

No matter what you choose, Dubai’s energy will captivate you.

A Hub for Multiple Culture

Dubai is home to a diverse community of locals and expats, creating a multicultural vibe that’s welcoming to everyone. English is widely spoken, so communication is rarely an issue. You can experience flavors from around the world, from authentic Emirati cuisine to indulging in sushi with a view at a rooftop restaurant.

Some Tips for Solo Female Travelers in Dubai

Dress respectfully:

While Dubai is modern and progressive, modest clothing is appreciated in public spaces. If you plan to visit a mosque, you’ll need to wear an abaya (a traditional modest garment for women).

Stay connected:

While there’s free Wi-Fi in most public areas and accommodations, it is recommended to subscribe to an internet bundle to avoid any communication difficulties.

Book experiences in advance:

Iconic attractions like the Burj Khalifa and desert safaris can fill up quickly. Reserving ahead ensures you don’t miss out.

Why Dubai Should Be Your Next Solo Travel Destination

From its safety and a blend of cultures to a never-ending list of attractions, Dubai sets itself apart from most of the destinations for solo travelers. It’s no wonder that travel to Dubai is often at the top of solo female travelers’ bucket list.

So, pack your bags, book a flight and let your exciting journey to Dubai begin!

Some of the images used in this post are not owned by me. Even just the thought of it excites travel enthusiasts like me. I always knew I was passionate about traveling, but I didn’t truly understand what it meant until I took three trips over 13 months. That was one of the ways solo travel changed me.

How do I describe what travel is to me? It’s a surreal journey where you explore this beautifully spread-out planet, man-made skyscrapers, fascinating people, vibrant cultures, and most importantly, yourself.

For me, the excitement starts bubbling while I’m still researching. From comparing multiple airlines to checking what aircraft will be flying on a particular date and time, from hunting for the best hotels to figuring out the ideal time to land and leave, every detail feels like a part of the adventure.

Although I’ve only traveled to two countries so far — the UAE and Saudi Arabia (where I took a religious journey three times) — I still proudly call myself a travel enthusiast. It’s not about how many stamps are in your passport but how deeply you absorb the experience and how soon you start planning the next trip. In my case, it’s usually before I even finish the current one, haha!

A Treat to Myself

Some top items on my wish list were to tick off “Travel solo before I turn 26” and “Visit Dubai.” So, this year, I decided to give myself the best birthday present ever — a solo trip to Dubai, UAE.

It’d be a lie if I said I wasn’t nervous about being on my own in a different country. But I was just as excited to see what this solo journey had in store for me.

I still remember walking down the jet bridge and seeing my aircraft, a Boeing 737 operated by Fly Dubai, waiting for me to board. I took in the plane’s interior, which wasn’t too impressive, but hey, the adventure had officially begun.

How Solo Travel Changed Me

As the plane took off, I left my nervousness behind on the ground. My adrenaline rose with the altitude, and everything felt like a dream — until I landed and had to get a taxi.

Upon reaching the hotel, I realized the driver had overcharged me. It was too late to do anything, but it taught me my first solo travel lesson: always check fares on apps like Uber or Careem before hopping into a taxi. From that moment on, I knew I had to be extra careful about every decision.

Freedom

I stepped into my hotel room, which was lovely but lonely. But you know what? That didn’t bother me for long because I had complete freedom to do whatever I wanted!

I ordered room service, took a nap, and then set out to explore. That’s the beauty of traveling solo, you’re in total control of your itinerary. If you want to lounge in your hotel or wander the streets aimlessly, it’s entirely up to you. And the best part? It doesn’t have to make sense!

Solitude

During my journey, I experienced moments of solitude I didn’t know I needed. I sat by the beach, felt the air brushing my face, sipped my coffee, and let my mind wander.

Living near the airport, I often spotted planes taking off and landing in the distance. I’d pause to watch, mesmerized by each aircraft. To an outsider, these little moments might seem insignificant. But for me, they were profoundly meaningful. It’s these tiny, unplanned moments that leave the most lasting impact.

Solo travel also gave me the time and space to reflect on my life. In those quiet moments, I realized how solo travel changed me — not just as a traveler but as a person. It taught me to appreciate my own company and find joy in the simplicity of being present.

Wrapping It Up

On my flight back home, I reflected on everything this journey had taught me. I felt more confident, braver, and more willing to step outside my comfort zone. Most importantly, it rekindled my purpose: to travel more.

How solo travel changed me is a story I’ll carry for life, and I can’t wait to see what my next adventure teaches me.

My hotel’s roof top (Ibis Styles Dubai Airport) had such a cool view of Dubai International Airport.
