I started Google it, asked colleagues their opinion, then GPT… and at the end of the day it was clear to me — there is no short, concise and straightforward article that can explain it. As a result, I noticed how much “non-structured” information was placed throughout the internet — so it became boring.

Yes, I am non-patient. I want to get information quickly and concisely. I’ve written this article to help those curious folks like me get the answer quickly and be sure that it makes sense.

What are DSDM and SCRUM

This section is for those, who don’t know what DSDM and SCRUM are. Otherwise, skip this section

Timeline of Agile Frameworks

• 1994 DSDM’s first version, the latest release 2014
• SCRUM launched 1 year later, the latest Scrum Guide updates saw the release of the 5th version of the Scrum Guide in 2020

DSDM

All you need to know in short:

• An alternative term for it is AgilePM
• DSDM provides a comprehensive framework for agile project management that emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, and continuous improvement
• Set apart from other methods by a reliance on a strong foundation and governance. It offers a well-structured approach to software development.
• Relies on strict costs, quality, and time constraints
• DSDM emphasizes modelling
• Prioritizes scope according to Must Have, Should Have, Could Have, or Won’t Have
• Timeboxing is a key feature, dividing work into fixed periods called increments.
• Iterative development allows for flexibility and adaptation to changing requirements

DSDM disadvantages, or when it is not used
A helpful approach to understanding things is to consider how they are not utilized.

• It’s complicated: DSDM can get pretty complex and strict, which might make it tough to put into action and keep up with. Some companies might struggle to follow all the rules and methods of DSDM.
• Lots of prep: DSDM needs a bunch of planning and paperwork upfront, which can make the whole development process more complicated. For smaller projects, all this extra work might not be needed.
• Not so flexible: While DSDM is supposed to be adaptable, it might not be as flexible as other agile methods like Scrum or Kanban. This could be a problem for companies that need to change things up fast.
• Costs add up: Making DSDM work takes a ton of time, money, and training. For smaller teams or companies with tight budgets, all these extra expenses might not be worth it.

SCRUM

• SCRUM is a flexible project management framework used for an uncertain scope of work.
• It breaks down projects into small, manageable parts called sprints.
• Teams work collaboratively in short cycles to deliver usable products quickly.
• Scrum can help teams complete project deliverables quickly and efficiently. Works well for fast-moving development projects
• Daily stand-up meetings keep everyone informed and on track.
• Fewer roles, easy-to-implement responsibilities
• It has 6 principles in total

SCRUM disadvantages, or when it is not used
A good way to understand things is to think when “it is not” used.

• Scope gets out of hand: SCRUM often leads to scope creep because there’s no set end date.
• No clear structure: While SCRUM is flexible, it can lack the clear structure needed for big, complex projects. This can cause confusion and slow things down.
• Hard to scale up: SCRUM works great for small to medium teams, but it can struggle to handle larger projects or companies. Managing lots of SCRUM teams can be tough and adds more work.
• No models to follow: SCRUM doesn’t provide specific models, which can make planning and organizing more difficult.
• Risk of burnout: Working in SCRUM means dealing with lots of uncertainty and pressure to deliver. This can lead to burnout, especially when the project scope isn’t clear.

💡 Both SCRUM and DSDM face the risk of going over budget. SCRUM might spend too much time trying to solve problems, while DSDM might spend too much money on implementation.

👉 It’s important to mention that with the right training and adjustments, many of these issues can be resolved. Customizing frameworks to fit the organization’s needs and proper implementation can help address these concerns.

DSDM vs SCRUM

💡 As you know the difference between product and project, it is easier to understand the difference between frameworks

• SCRUM is used in a product development context, where the objective is to create a new product with uncertain requirements. It should not be used to manage a project as it does not address the usual up-front activities associated with launching and managing the lifecycle of a project. It also does not work well on complex projects with several dependencies between modules and teams
• DSDM is reliable. Best suited to a project context where there is a tighter scope and a higher need for governance. It has a bigger role range. Good to work with complex projects, but it has complexity due to bureaucracy.
• Although there are similarities between the two frameworks, they operate in very different environments. Scrum’s natural territory is in a product environment, whereas DSDM is designed to operate in a project environment.

A good analogy to think about when considering combining AgilePM and Scrum is the fork and spoon.

They do very different jobs, but they can be used effectively in tandem. Let me highlight 👇

If you eat spaghetti with a fork, you should be fine, but eating soup with a fork is likely to prove problematic!

The key to the successful use of both is to use them in the right way and the right environment. Sometimes this will be just AgilePM on its own, sometimes it will be Scrum on its own, and sometimes it can be using them both together. Just like a fork and a spoon!

Why?

As we know, DSDM is quite complex, and for your WordPress website project, it would be unreal to implement its principles and workflow standards. Simply saying DSDM is not suited for small projects, it is overkill. Thus, SCRUM still may help you to deliver this simple project.

However, if your project is medium/complex, meaning

• its budget is robust,
• the scope is big
• and a high level of concentration is required

— DSDM works better than SCRUM.

Alright Roman, I got it, the complex project, now it is time for DSDM. Thanks

- Wait, wait, wait… it depends…. This time, is the last one. I promise

Why?

This is actually, what I figured out in my recent project. The input:

• budget is high and limited
• time is limited
• the scope is big and complex
• high requirements for governance
• for quality no compromise, it should be best

The best environment for DSDM could be ever. So what is the issue?

The issue. We both need:

• getting it right
• learning & improvising

It means:

• The project we build (modules) is the part of existing product (PIM Website). While we have established Business Needs to be specifically achieved (project mode), we seek to meet the needs and desires of customers (product area).
• The scope of work is impressively complex, and there are high chances it can be changeable. Because the solution we build is not similar to the solutions on the market, it is unique

👉 So, in simple words limits + uncertainty

Even though DSDM aims for rapid solutions, it still needs clear requirements upfront with a defined scope and timeline. This ensures that the development team can stick to the budget, scope, and time limits set for the project. The Foundation Phase of the project is crucial, as it’s when the work and its completion are agreed upon. However, early planning may lead to assumptions affecting the process before all details are clear.

Yet, as it turned out, is not my use case.

DSDM + SCRUM

It may seem strange, but believe me, it is working and I know it will for you! “Depending” on your needs, for sure.

Why?

• As SCRUM Book declares — Scrum is a framework and you cannot drop any part of it without compromising its integrity. And this I never will understand, you consider yourself as Agile, but… you reject flexibility…… Anyways.
• On the other hand, DSDM states that it can integrate a wide variety of tools and techniques.

Although you can’t strictly “use Scrum within DSDM” due to ideological constraints, you’re still allowed to employ Scrum terms and methods. However, it’s essential to ensure that everyone understands and agrees on how these terms and methods are used.

• Clarify Phases and Processes
• Build enough foundations, whenever possible
• Do workshops every week, to facilitate the scope understanding and write it on the way
• Extent roles from DSDM to a proper responsibility assignment through team
• Use artefacts from SCRUM (Prioritized Product Backlog, Sprint Goal, Sprint Backlog, Product Increment)
• Use Products from DSDM (MSCW, Sometimes “free” Timebox, sometimes “structured”, Burn Down Chart, Deployment Strategy)

Conclusion

If my blending style of DSDM + SCRUM seems unconventional and a misinterpretation of a well-defined process by book — that’s okay, especially if it’s effective for you. Whether you follow Scrum, DSDM, XP, RAD, or other methodologies, as long as it works for your team, that’s what matters

However, if the “following strictly by book” approach isn’t working out, consider this: a significant number of Agile projects fail, much like Waterfall projects did.

There’s a YouTube video highlighting this issue, revealing a surprisingly high failure rate despite Agile’s widespread use.

It’s astonishing to think that while 90% of companies use Agile, 40% to 60% anticipate failure in its implementation. This situation calls for a reassessment of our systems to align better with business needs.

How to use Scrum in DSDM?

NOTE: Initially, I wrote this post in English. However, I realized that it concerns internal issues that we, as Ukrainian citizens, need to address. Therefore, I am writing this in Ukrainian for my fellow citizens. If you prefer, I can create a translated version. Please let me know.

• Ви на прикладі побачите ефект сьогодення, здається, ніби культура повинна була змінитись, але ми її потягнули за собою, та ще й у старому форматі;
• Що саме у нас не так і яка причина цьому? Опираючись на історичні факти.
• Яке рішення наших проблем та які ключі нам потрібні, щоб відкрити двері до ЄС;
• Які зміни будуть наслідком цих рішень;
• Та що нам зробити, щоб швидше інтегруватися з Європою.

Дорогі українці, мої брати та сестри! Це моє послання до нас, які пережили поразку московії та нашу перемогу, у післявоєнний час. Ми є дуже сильною і по-справжньому унікальною нацією, сповнені щирості, відкритого серця і величезного бажання жити на вільній і щасливій землі. Стало зрозуміло, що ми зараз боремося за це, і Армія України виконує свою роботу професійно. Ми, знаходившись за їхніми плечима, повинні також боротися. Одна з наших головних цілей є збереження та покращення культури.

Ми хочемо вступити до ЄС, і здається, що люди там готові прийняти нас поруч. Але чи ми готові до цього? Нажаль, ще ні. Спочатку ми повинні скинути стару токсичну куртку та очистити свій розум.

Те, що ми готові поділитися цінностями з Європою, є реальністю, і ми бачимо багато доказів цього. Однак, як і в будь-якій країні Союзу, є інші аспекти культури, з якими потрібно впоратися, щоб не завдати шкоди іншим культурам.

Я, як людина, що прожила в ЄС близько 6 років, починаючи з 17 років, тепер вже маю відповідь на свої запитання. У мене неодноразово виникали запитання всередині — Чому в нас не так?! Невже ми не варті нормального життя? Чому нам важко досягнути успіху в соціальному та фінансовому аспектах до такого рівня? Чому люди посміхаються один одному? Чому до нас відношення досить специфічне? Невже ми так не можимо? Та все згодом стало зрозуміло і підвердилось війною викликаною й***ною р*сією.

Ефект сьогодення

“До українських біженців погіршується ставлення у Польщі”

Повідомляється, що поляків дратує навколишня іноземна мова — переважно російська, якою розмовляють переселенці. Вони вважають її ворожою і втрачають уявлення про те, що перед ними українці.

Також, багатьом не подобаються пережитки “російського світу”, який привезли деякі українці: пристрасть до снобізму, дорогих автомобілів, недотримання заборон, наприклад, на швидкість, паркування у неналежних місцях.

Серйозно?) Прочитавши це, мене обурило, що навіть коли все стало зрозуміло — які ми різні зі східним сусідом, та як жити НЕ треба, є відсоток населення, який далі поділяє цю ганебну модель. І тим більше, вони потрапили на територію ЄС, де “ховаються” від наслідків цієї поведінки. Тому я вважаю, що цю статтю дуже важливо поширити серед знайомих, бо ми мусимо не тільки вбити зовнішньо цю гидоту, але і всередині нас.

Травма та її причина

На жаль, у нашій міцності та здатності відстоювати свою думку та свободу є темна сторона, яку ми повинні докладно розібрати. Як психологи зазначають, знайдення причини травми дає можливість вилікувати її наслідки. Тому я пропоную зануритися у нашу найбільшу травму — довіра.

Від подій у козацькі часи, коли засновувалися договори про визнання один одного та привласнені території між “сусідами”, до визнання незалежності України у 1991 році та подій 2014 року — існує один чинник, який вплинув на нестабільність внутрішньої безпеки.

Почнемо з часів, коли був підписаний договір про визнання один одного між Козаками та р*сійською імперією в 1654 році. Ці договори були суттєвими для розвитку культури та політики українців над козацтвом, дозволивши дотримуватися певних стандартів для перегляду і взаємодії з російською державою. Ми зробили велику помилку, не усвідомлюючи цього, через нашу щирість. Ми довірились один одному, і на жаль, краще б було цього не робити. Пізніше, цей “договір” призвів до розпаду козацької січі, що було викликано рядом чинників, включаючи посилення монархів та зміни в політичному устрої. Ці зміни, як і посилення, відбулися саме завдяки необачності через довіру.

Того часу, коли ми розраховували на взаємовідносини та безпеку один для одного, наш сусід бачив у нашій культурі загрозу для своїх бізнес-інтересів, монархії та власної армії загалом. Вони не могли змиритися з тим, що свобода слова та спільний вибір керували радою і внаслідок цього — нацією. Тому наш “союзник” підлив нам отруту у вигляді «своїх» людей, неподіляючих цінностей України та охочих отримати владу — поділом регіону. У той час, коли в історії України відзначається цей договір про визнання один одного, р*сійська історія відзначає укладення Переяславської угоди, яка призвела до формальної прив’язки Козацької Січі до Московського царства. Результатом цього цілий регон потрапив під владу Російської імперії, що призвело до зміни стосунків між козаками та центральною владою. Також внутрішній розкол серед козаків став ще однією причиною розпаду Козацької Січі. На початку XVIII століття існували дві фракції серед козаків — «правобережні» та «лівобережні». Вони мали різні погляди на те, як повинна бути устроєна Козацька Січ та її стосунки з Російською імперією. Це призвело до конфлікту між козаками та погіршенням ситуації в регіоні.

Звідти, доречі, і з’явився термін “корупція”, яка була у основі кожної монархії — де люди міцно трималися за владу і користувалися нею для своїх потреб. Наші люди, хоча і пробували з цим боротись, на жаль, потрапляли у пастку: або йти у змову, або поставити під загрозу життя близьких.

У решті-решті:

• розхитування державної структури козацької Січі — розподіл нації
• посилене навантаження на українських чиновників та військових
• збільшена інфляція та погіршення економічного стану пов’язані з війнами.
• інші обставини історії, що мали не менш важливу роль — 1710 рік поразка Мазепиних сил під Полтавою, 1712–1714 рр боротьба між “правобережними” та “лівобережними” козаками, 1775 рік розпуск Козацької Січі на велетенський наказ катерини II

Всі ці чинники спричинили розпад козацької січі. І найгіршим наслідком цієї отрути є те — що ми втратили довіру до один одного, тим більше до влади. Тому деяким особам безпечніше бути у “змові”, аніж жити по правилам і гідно, бо це не тільки не цінується у суспільстві, а ще й не безпечно. Тому у нас з’явилося бидло, яке замість нормальної поведінки обирає власні побажання, як важливіші, ніж інші побратими на тій ж самій ділянці, де кожен має рівні права.

Ця історія дуже нагадує нещодавні події 2014 року з втечею любителів золотого хліба, втратою Криму, Донбасу, Луганська і подій 2022 року, які тільки підтверджують реальні цілі “сусіда”, чи не так? Це все тому, що ми продовжували поводитися за зламаною моделлю довіри, яка була наслідком отруєння. Тепер ми знаємо, що криється за словом “зрада” — це зламана довіра, яку ми вільно або невільно шукаємо навіть там, де не потрібно.

Знаючи причину, тепер ми готові виправити помилки і визначити правильний курс для вирішення проблем.

Ментальні зміни як засіб вирішення проблем

Найшвидша відповідь — рішення до ментальних змін, а зокрема ключі до вступу у ЄС є

• взаємна довіра,
• самоповага,
• соціальна відповідальність.

Хочу звернути увагу на те, що, звичайно, неможливо гарантувати, що всі люди зможуть зрозуміти, як використовувати ці “ключі”. На жаль, деякий відсоток залишиться токсичним у новому середовищі. Але наша мета — зменшити цю кількість якомога більше.

Детально про кожний ключ і наслідки, дивітся:

1. Зі “здоровою” довірою один до одного, ми можемо

• найняти фахівця, а не робити все самі.
• Можна покластись на повну підтримку з боку уряду.
• Ми можемо зменшити напругу негативного настрою та створити простір для нормальної реакції в атмосфері.

2. З повагою до себе ми більше не дозволимо використовувати наше життя кимось іншим. Це означає, що ми можемо знайти спосіб сказати “НІ”, оскільки пропозиція недостатньо хороша, або сказати “ТАК”, якщо вона спрямована на наші “реальні” вимоги, а не на ті, що ґрунтуються на “Я хочу”. Цьому я зверну окрему увагу, оскільки це стало однією з ключових проблем людства.

• Треба припинити надмірне споживання.
• Необхідно припинити нахабну поведінку.
• Варто утриматися від просіння більше, коли не вистачає іншим.
• Треба цінувати те, що нам дають, навіть якщо для це здається лише частинкою, а для когось це може бути цілий світ. Ті, хто переїхав до ЄС під час війни і почав скаржитися на погані умови життя людей, які відкрили вам своє серце, соромно називати українцями.

3. Щодо соціальної відповідальності, найпростіше пояснення полягає в тому, щоб дбати про суспільство всіма можливими способами.

• Наші вулиці та зовнішній вигляд міста є дзеркалом нашого менталітету. Почніть з себе.
• Якщо ви поважаєте себе, з’явиться бажання подбати про навколишнє середовище, в якому ви живете.
• Бачите сміття? Покладіть його в кошик.
• Бачите людину, яка це робить? Зробіть зауваження, це не важко. Якщо співрозмовець почне нахабно відповідати, у найскладнішому випадку навчіть його, як спілкуватися, але краще проігноруйте. Якщо декілька різних осіб скажуть йому це протягом дня, ефект буде.
• Деякі міста виглядають потворно через те, що ми є частинами колишнього Радянського Союзу, проте ми можемо змінити це найближчим часом, і ми це зробимо — оскількі це теж є частиною соц. відповідальності

Якщо ми правильно скористаємося новою моделлю цінностей, ми зможемо 100% приєднатися до ЄС не як “нова одиниця”, а як “зразок для наслідування” для інших країн. Як країна що має власну історію, власну націю, подібне бачення майбутнього, і що змогла очистити землю від орків та орків з середини, в душі.

Загальні зміни для країни

Що робити, окрім ментальних змін? Це не менш цікаво, оскільки при вступі в ЄС ринок значно збільшується. Серед дій, які потрібно вжити в першу чергу, можна виділити такі:

• Створення/поширення “мостів” у вигляді відносин між ЄС, наприклад, культурні спільноти за межами, логістика та інші.
• Продовження праці над самопрезентацією України, щоб справити враження. Та здійснити особистісні зміни, аби це враження не втратити.
• Генерацію ідей для відновлення інфраструктури країни. Не до стану, в якому вона була раніше, а до нового рівня. Усі недавні українці, які повертаються з ЄС, мають досвід роботи, який можна розповісти і використовувати для впровадження ідеології ЄС та суспільного регулювання в Україні. Наприклад, ReUkraine.

• Персональна та суспільна фінансова грамотність. Для початку вистачить види доходів та спосіб їх ведення — основи економіки. Перш ніж отримати або поміняти джерело доходу, приділіть спочатку весь свій час і енергію, щоб освоїти хоча б одну з них, і лише потім ви повинні думати про те, щоб йти далі. Зрештою, саме так люди стають багатими. Часто ситуація, джерело змінюється, а грошей як не вистачало, так і не вистачає. Просто загугліть як працює економіка та як вести свої фінанси за допомогою Excel. Наприклад Фінансова грамотність для Підприємців. Підійде навіть для не педприємців.
• Вивчіть що таке патентна система та її вимоги. Творці, які не знають цього, просто втрачають можливість підтвердити ідентичність та поширення своєї творчості, що означає втрату пасивного доходу. Отримавши ці знання, якщо творчість відповідає вимогам, є можливість отримати гроші за те, що ви виконали тільки один раз — будь то написання книги чи зйомка фільму. Цей вид заробітку широко поширений серед художників, музикантів або атворів інновацій. Наприклад, музиканти заробляють гроші, даючи згоду на використання іншим, записувати чи продавати їхню музику. Це, до речі, відкриває очі і споживачу — чому треба платити підписку у Apple Music, Spotify та інших сервісах, а не користуватися у чорну матеріалами? Тому що творчість — це також праця, і праця має бути винагороджена.

Отже,

• з розумінням причин нашої травми
• дізнавшись про ментальні зміни, які можуть допомогти нам вирішити цю проблем
• і з усвідомленням цінностей, які поділяются у ЄС,

…маємо усі можливості продовжувати нашу психологічну та соціальну метаморфозу.

Ми повинні

• відкрити свої серця та переглянути свою поведінку в політичній, соціальній та економічній сферах.
• відновити довіру один до одного і зрозуміти принцип чесності, що дозволить нам працювати над створенням цільової освіти, підвищення економічної динаміки та створення більш чітких і гнучких законів.
• змінити моральні вимоги до себе та до суспільства, щоб здійснювати правильні рішення та дії, а також захищати права та свободи українців.

Це дозволить нам досягнути мети приєднання до ЄС.

Це дозволить нам не допустити більше помилок з такими “сусідами”.

Я вірю в себе, я вірю в нас, я вірю в свободу, я вірю в майбутнє. І гадаю, що ви також.

01 monitor how it goes

Use the waterfall view (a.k.a product timeline) to plan and monitor the chronological sequence of Sprints, Modules, Epics, or all of them together, thanks to filtration and view options. Note that elements here are displayed automatically as you set the period for each specific document at step 05. I used to work on specifying the context of the project and documenting it, first. Once it’s done, it’s ready to set a time period to make a plan!

02 collect your ideas

Did an idea come to your head? Note it! Click the “+New” button to add it and set a category. You can either relocate it to a Knowledge Base or select a date property and it will be displayed in the calendar.

03 build your knowledge base

Each project is implemented with a vast amount of information in mind. How can you remember everything and manage your knowledge? Store it! Click the “+New” button below, set tags, and attach files.

Actions

• as the note has a value for your product, relocate it from Idea to Knowledge Base by drag&drop
• set its properties: topics, priorities
• use different views, filtered by predefined topics

There are available topics:

• Instructions & Guideline — detailed information about how something should be done or operated
• Project Procedures — a highly detailed series of specific steps that are to be taken over the course of the project
• Research — interpretation of that data/information
• Business & Concept Related — information that strictly relates to Business itself and the product concept. Usually, as research is done & confirmed, the info goes here

• Team — consists a prepared table to make a list of Team members and note related information, as well as setting role and absent periods for each of them
• Analysis — a document for your overall research plan & notation
• Customer Segments — a document for segmenting customers

04 plan your month

Fill the calendar with miscellaneous events or ideas and note them! Use Status Board to review the progress status and mark it as done — it will then disappear from the list.

05 build your project

Build your project documentation using predefined templates, that are powered with checklists! The process based on Agile ideology, which helps to create superior products 🚀

Actions

1. Create documents and set their properties: Timebox, status, type, and relation. Follow the basic lifecycle of the project:
2. First, specify your project in Project Vision Statement.
3. Then create a System Module and define key functional and non-functional requirements.
4. Having that, decompose that module on separate user stories for a particular functionality, using Scope Item/Epic
5. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until your specification isn`t finished
6. Finally, set the range of work for your Sprint Plan and examine it each 2 weeks

Project Vision Statement — description or declaration of what an organization/project team wants to obtain or accomplish upon the completion of a project. You`ll find a template with prepared checklist which do not allow you to lose edge-things that matters.

System Module — a document that literally perceived as a parent box.

• It defines and describes overall functional & non-functional requirements within 3 key layers (UI, BA, DAL).
• It used to define expectations for User Interface, system sitemap and features or data architecture.
• Each defined item becomes an isolated unit (smaller box) named Scope Item/Epic,
• System Model holds Epics together and navigates the reader accordingly.

Scope Item/Epic — is a smaller box, that is dedicated to hold information for a specific use case.

In its architecture, it offers a checklist to:

• Define in 1–2 sentences “What is about”
• Define Personas for this Story and their role definition
• Compose User Stories for each role appropriately

Sprint Plan — define what can be delivered in the sprint and how that work will be achieved.

There is a template with a prepared checklist that helps to:

• Set the plan
• Priority for the Sprint — Numbered List by priority
• Expectations to achieve at the end of the month — use 1 or 2 sentence max
• List out the epics to work on and categorize them appropriately

06 organize your team

List out all the patrons in your team, set roles and job types or manage absence for holidays.

Doing good to others is one of the best things you can do in life. It always matters, especially now and from my experience, I can prove this, during a horrible war.

I had a chance to participate in the campaign called “Fighting St. Nicolas”, organized by Ukrainian Wings. As mentioned in this publication, children like Oleksii received a holiday pack from volunteers from around Ukraine. Our community decided to support children from the very east of Ukraine, who have seen the war close to the frontline.

There is no doubt that such a present won’t give a feeling of alive parents or closest ones, yet the sense of the campaign is at least to keep the “hope” of children for a miracle and a peaceful future.

As I took the responsibility of being “Fighting Nicolas” too, I`ve chosen Vlada from numerous letters published, who was born in the Donetsk region 7 years ago.

She says that she has no longer access to her toys, and would be happy to get a plush cat. For sure, this request has a deeper context beyond, as it represents the miss of her lost childhood and hometown. Yet despite the war and evil around, she still believes in miracles.

This is just one of the numerous initiatives that Ukrainians or our foreign friends started to help children feel Christmas. Many kids lost friends, or relatives, or parents, while 450 children died under Russia’s attacks this year.

East and west, we are united to be there for each other. We can be out of power, out of water or out of heating, but as humans, as Ukrainians, we can never be out of light and love inside us.

This post is supposed to be about another gain in my career, yet I think there is a much more important topic I must put on the table.

Last night I woke up as a result of a nightmare, in which I heard a siren. Struggling in continuing to sleep, for the next couple of hours, I realized that it’s time to raise this topic here on LinkedIn (the community that drives the world, at least it`s planned to be so, initially) and let it spread out on similar sources. Time to take off the “mask”. It has a different form for everyone. It could be pink glass, distance barriers, cell phones, e.t.c. Just like K.Lamar mentions in his last album. Take all this sh*t off, and what do you have?

We “lost” a focus, or better to say “forgotten”. We have been continuously trying to simplify/improve our lives, which is a brilliant idea and in fact we have amazing results, however, we have forgotten why we exactly doing this… we forgot about “life” itself. Without it, there is no sense in improvement, right? I have some thoughts to share with you, but first, let me tell you shortly — what motivated me to do so.

The problem and its consequence

The past year changed my life on 180°. While I got the job of my dream, met a lot of sincere people, and successfully managed a couple of huge projects, for the company and personal, the world wasn’t stopping the “production of a mess”. I believe you noticed how it went crazy, isn’t it? A lot happened behind the scene.

For me, the comprehension process significantly accelerated, once I lost my dear father — Roman. On 18th October, just on my birthday. Covid stole his life. I wish I`d tell you what a wise person he was, his appreciable experience, and how many people he helped and took care of, but it requires endless speech. The easiest way to know him is to “read between lines” of my message, as I am his “next” voice.

Apart from major responsibilities I had (father’s funeral, jobs projects, diploma, relocation) I got a duty — “care of my family”… this caused me to look at and do things much differently. For a while, I drowned my voice as well as emotions down to survive, and as the war started — I can`t do so no longer. I must tell — wake up and stop making things much more complex! We lose our life!!

Our Earth has cancers

• Overconsumption.
• Global Warming, Typhoon, and other natural catastrophe cases.
• Covid.
• Upcoming WW3. r🤮ssia invades Ukraine, China wants to invade Taiwan. North Korea yelling about its readiness to use nuclear against the USA. Serbia and Kosovo conflicts. Karabach. Gaza terrorists.
• and so on, and so on…

Who can stop it? — We!

How can we do it? — There are some concepts, it depends. But in general, all these ideas are rooted around “what we precisely shouldn’t do!”

Chance to survive

I am stressed to follow and can’t communicate with people or businesses which live a “normal” life while it happens. The business sector shouldn’t stop, certainly not, especially at this moment. Yet it shouldn’t be blind or think it won’t be affected in any way. Now, is the time to put our efforts to solve these issues, with 1 action — preventing!

Unfortunately, javascript`s function “e.preventDefault()” wouldn’t help us. It requires a systematic sequence of actions with an upgraded mentality. So, what actions then? My offer is simple:

Let each next decision, action, offer, purchase, consumption, feature, product, or startup — will be made along with a “small” impact on treatment from this kind of cancer. And since we talk of business here, I recommend you to think of an attractive niche — “preventing the Earth catastrophe”, which I promise you, will bring you a fortune, as you`ll find an approach.

“Everything starts with correct questions.”

— That is what my parents taught me.

So, just ask yourself:

• What product or feature do you need to develop to somehow impact global issues?
• How detect and prevent the possibility of terrorism?
• If I was able to change curriculums, what I`d changed?
• What can I add to my startup, to save nature?
• What should I stop in my current life routine, to stop supporting the world disaster?

Wrapping up

Honestly saying, interesting things are happening in our UA society now, this terrible war just “opened our eyes” and we stop making things complex. We are remembered that living in the piece, walking in the park, having dinner with family, traveling, kissing, progressing, carrying each other, and dreaming of the future — is already happiness. Now, “alived” here, in Ukraine, decides much more sincerely and faster. Break and create new relations due to “authentic” interests. Buy wishlist goods and spend time on smth that matter. Care of nature, as it gave us a such beautiful environment.

We call it bravery. In my humble opinion, it’s time to remind ourselves what it means to be, brave.

Be brave to be with or to be the people you want.

Be brave to change the world you are living in and your sons will.

Hope this food for thought has a chance for action, by us, friends.

Everything becomes clear again when death surrounds you much closer than ever.
