The Commons in Anarchic Practice

In anarchic contexts, the commons refers to shared resources — such as communication platforms, public indexes, digital infrastructure, and collective identities — maintained through mutual norms rather than private ownership or centralised authority. These spaces depend on relational trust, enabling fluid collaboration and shared stewardship.

Yet, the informal nature of such arrangements can also introduce challenges. Without clearly articulated practices, communal assets may be shaped in ways that do not fully reflect collective intentions. At times, tools designed for mutual benefit may begin to reflect narrower priorities, potentially affecting the balance between individual initiative and group cohesion.

Symbolic Enclosure: When Anarchic Values Are Exploited

Symbolic enclosure describes patterns where influence over shared platforms, narratives, or decision-making processes becomes concentrated without transparent or broad-based agreement. These dynamics may appear subtly — such as through informal control of access — or more overtly, such as persistent claims to authority over collective spaces.

In some decentralised communities, tensions have emerged when differing expectations around responsibility, access, or representation arise. These situations, though complex, can resemble broader societal patterns of enclosure, where shared spaces risk being shaped by a few rather than many.

Drawing on Foucault’s view that power operates through control of access and meaning, it becomes clear that influence can accumulate even in non-hierarchical settings. When concerns about decision-making are reframed as threats to anarchic values themselves, meaningful dialogue can become difficult. In such cases, performative decentralisation — where rhetorical commitments to openness mask practices that limit collaboration — can undermine the very structures designed to support collective care.

Safeguarding the Symbolic Commons: Strategies for Collective Care

To strengthen shared infrastructure and protect symbolic commons, the following strategies are proposed for short- to mid-term implementation:

1. Shared Access: Distributing administrative roles and responsibilities across multiple individuals to reduce the risk of concentration.
2. Rotating Stewardship: Periodically rotating moderation and coordination roles to encourage wider participation and prevent entrenchment.

After a discussion within our holders (here and here), many ideas have been proposed. We have 5 strong proposals that need to be discussed and voted to see where the community think we should we allocate our limited resources.

The way DAOs in general do their governance is at best, flawed — if not useless. First, just counting the amount of tokens that back a proposal option is a very simplistic and limited vision of what governance should be. This over-simplified system has allowed ridiculous proposals to pass. In addition, it does not allow small stakeholders to truly affect the protocol’s decisions. Some systems have been set in place to mitigate this monolithic machinery, but still the ultimate choice is given to large whales.

How will we count the votes?

Our initial voting system will include the following 4 components per poll option:

• w = Total amount of $SPORE
• x = Number of individual wallets above 500 billion $SPORE
• y = number of individual wallets with LP holdings equivalent to 500 billion $SPORE
• z = charter NFT collection holders

Each component will be multiplied by a constant (𝛼, 𝛽, γ, θ) and the results added up. The option with a highest score will be considered the winner.

We will monitor live the first poll to propose an initial weight for these constants with the possibility to adjust them via proposals. We believe everyone should have a voice, and that a true majority should have an opportunity to influence the direction of the development. We are already in WEB5 here, and we should bring the best of both web2 and web3. With no billions of dollars of capital at risk (yet) we will build a solid foundation for years to come.

Our hyperdeflationary token acts against malicious bots moving large funds into wallets as each transfer will incur in a 6% loss.

At this moment, only accounts with 8 trillion $SPORE or NFT holders are allowed to make 2 proposals.

There are some improvements and implementations to be done:

• Direct api interaction for cross platform information sharing (documentation will be found at docs.sporeproject.org)
• Design or train your own algorithm feed depending on your needs — no more algos trying to suck away your time (5 minute information review, priority/leveled notifications)
• Manage your own data — we will become relayers of your own data or the data you choose to store on your own or chosen server, managing the storage of your information will become the new rule for privacy and identity preservation in the decentralized world we try to build

DeFi is a fascinating space. Projects no longer depend on CEX listings for success, and teams rely on building relationships, finding synergies, and sharing knowledge within their ecosystems in order to differentiate themselves among an endless onslaught of clones.

The connection of Spore’s tokenomics to Pangolin was clear from the start. When SPORE tokens were minted in March 2021, they were deposited in a Pangolin liquidity pool with keys “thrown away,” locking that liquidity for eternity and setting off one of the most exciting experiments in the history of money: “How wil a hyperdeflationary currency behave when a significant portion of the supply is locked in a liquidity pool of a decentralized exchange, and how will this liquidity affect the users of the currency for generations to come?”

Fast-forward to July 2021. Spore’s following is approaching 200 thousand people, and Pangolin has firmly established itself as a leading DEX in crypto. Liquidity is the lifeblood of any asset. When SPORE was first minted, seed liquidity was provided to a SPORE/AVAX pool on the Pangolin exchange, with LP tokens burned as proof of developer commitment to the project. When we built the bridge from Avalanche to BSC and crossed bravely into that new territory, liquidity on PancakeSwap was provided by volunteer community members, which, while not massive, still allowed Spore to maintain a foothold on that chain.

With the explosive growth that Spore experienced in late April and early May of this year, it became evident that more liquidity was needed to meet the demand from over 100 thousand people who seemingly appeared out of nowhere and quickly began to take genuine interest in Spore as an open-source project and as a global currency. The need to increase liquidity for the token was more obvious than before, a worthy challenge for a volunteer-staffed project with no treasury or dev fund. Bearing those realities in mind, we understood it was time for decisive action and made a Pangolin governance bid for yield-farming incentives in the form of PNG, the native token of that platform. With the tremendous support of the Pangolin community, the larger Avalanche ecosystem, and, of course, our Spore family, the proposal passed overwhelmingly last week.

Spore will reap the first benefits of that initiative today, when PNG rewards for SPORE liquidity providers on Pangolin finally go live in just a couple of hours. Starting today, participants in the SPORE/AVAX liquidity pool will get 1x PNG rewards, while providing liquidity for the SPORE/PNG pool will yield a whopping 5x rewards, a remarkable incentive that will benefit not only SPORE holders and LPs but the entire ecosystem, as more users from other chains will be drawn to Avalanche and discover its unparalleled technology and the brilliant projects that are building on it.

While today is a turning point for Spore and indeed a cause for celebration, our quest for steady and everflowing liquidity does not end here. We will continue to explore creative ways to grow liquidity, both on DEXes and through any means that become available to us, as DeFi regains momentum and we enter what might be the most exciting crypto summer yet.

Ever since the start of Spore, the main goal is to strip greed away from the blockchain development, gathering minds alike. The first version of the Spore NFTs is the conclusion of a 100% community, greedless and decentralized development that has gathered 10 artists, 8 developers and countless hours of discussion with community members. The final touches of the smart contract were coded during two discord livestreams, having a completely open discussion about pricing and fairness, ending in the deployment of the contracts also in a livestream. This article shows a detailed explanation of the mechanics of the NFTs fair launch and their use case.

Details of the fair launch

There are 3 fair locks implemented:

Time Lock: the contract will only allow people to claim the NFTs after 6 hours after the fairLaunch function is called.
Sniper Lock: the first person to claim after the Time Lock will have only 1 in 3 chances of lifting the Sniper Lock, once this lock is opened, people will be able to claim all the NFTs normally (this is to prevent sniper bots).
Claim Limit: can only claim one NFT per wallet, preventing people to claim more than one NFT per wallet

How to claim

First, approve the amount of SPORE you wish to spend max in claiming. Follow the price list on the left. Then hit approve and confirm the transaction in MetaMask. Now you are ready to claim.

Immediately after the 6 hours are passed, the contract will unlock the claiming feature of the NFTs. The SPORE used to mint the NFTs will be sent to the burn address! (3% of this will be redistributed to the Avalanche holders and if the claim does not work you will get your SPORE back)
If you are able to obtain one, you will be able to see it in the section called “your NFTs”.

If you have one NFT you can put it up for sale for whatever amount you wish, if you buy them from the marketplace you are allowed to own as many as you want!

What is coming next?

The NFT minting needs SPORE, but after this, each piece can be sold using AVAX, giving an aggregated value to SPORE.
The framework built around this first collection makes us able to create many custom collections, with their own standalone contracts, exclusively for many artists not only in the static images domain, but also animations and music, in where such artists can receive fees in SPORE.
Furthermore, the holders of this first collection will be able to vote on governance issues to decide on future SPORE developments.

One thing is becoming clear, however. We are already outgrowing our original Discord and will probably outgrow Telegram in the near future as the number of users keeps exploding and communication channels continue to require robust scaling.

Which brings us to one little detail. Our name. The project was originally named Spore Finance by the founding developer (who is just a scientist that knows a thing or two about organic matter) in a nod to the DeFi movement of 2020. Perhaps not unexpectedly, Spore has now outgrown its original moniker as well. We have never provided financial services (although those reflect rewards on Avalanche are quite nice) and do not intend to become a financial services company. We are therefore shedding the “Finance” part of the name and becoming simply Spore.

That brings us to one last point: the domain. Spores may or may not have been recently found on Mars, but we can say with confidence that we originate from Earth. Consistent with our vision to become not just a cryptocurrency but a movement that will overtake the entire planet, fueled by a token that will make its way into the wallet of every Earthling, we have chosen spore.earth as our home on the web.

For the gas cost of 2 transactions swap your $SPORE between the Avalanche C Chain (AVAX) to Binance Smart Chain (BSC)! This bridge is opening new opportunities for arbitraging and will stimulate the deflation of $SPORE. Here, find a technical description of the bridge mechanics.

It consists of 2 smart contracts on each blockchain bridged by an autonomous .js script. When the script listens to a transaction on one side, it makes a call on the other blockchain, sending the tokens to the same 0x address but on the other blockchain.

The transaction fee is used by the account that is linked to the script to pay for the gas to make the transaction on the other blockchain. Because of the apricot updates this fee can be updated in the future — it is expected to be lower.

The reflection will only be happening on the AVAX side, this will stimulate the migration of the tokens to this direction. In turn, this will drive up the price on the BSC side, stimulating people to bridge the tokens back for opportunities in arbitrage. The total supply of bridged tokens on the AVAX side will be locked inside the contract and the reflection earned for the tokens will be lost in the contracts balance, stimulating more scarcity of the token.

The reliance of an autonomous .js script for the bridge operations can be a limitation, but seen from another perspective it opens the possibility of creating a second layer blockchain in the medium term, that can be managed in a decentralized way, and that can also be used as an oracle in our future implementations.

Because we want to stimulate a useful migration for our BSC peers to the Avalanche Network, a ‘swap some SPORE for AVAX’ function has been implemented too, which will let the user have enough gas to exchange his $SPORE into $AVAX after the migration and participate of other decentralized DeFI projects. Thus, the choice of holding $SPORE is personal.

Conclusion

The giant progress made in the recent weeks would not be possible without the community that has been built around $SPORE. This goes beyond the classic ‘dev team’ idea. Why Spores?

Spores are unicellular dispersal units, adapted for survival in unfavourable conditions and for long periods of time.
