RedLight is proud to present the second edition of its Summer Internship program.

This is Rossio. She works as a receptionist at Nest.

For the second year in a row, RedLight is promoting its Summer Internship as a way to let fresh minds get into the real world developing a product for a client, which, just like last year, will be RedLight itself.

First, take a look at what our summer interns from last year (we miss you guys!) managed to create out of thin air.

Now, are you feeling like applying but you have no idea how to get in? I’ll explain right away.

First we’ll rollout a Typeform where you’ll be asked to provide some data about you. After this, we’ll get in touch and we’ll speak a bit about and how this program is expected to work out for you and for RedLight.

Then, if you get in, that’s when things start to get interesting. The first week will be composed mostly of training, specially in some key languages, development process, project management and collaboration.

After this, you’ll have a team assembled to create a product of your own and throughout the 90 days succeeding the 1st of July, you’ll join us to create something you believe in.

All of this, leads us to our presence at .works, this Friday. At .works, we’ll be promoting our Summer Internship along with our curricular internships. Later this week we’ll talk about .works and our internship plans for 2016. If you have any doubts you can meet us there or just leave a question here as a comment.

Apply here until the 20th of May.

Interviews for selection may start before that.

Summer News was originally published in RedLight Blog on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Three months have passed since the beginning of the RedLight Summer Internship and this is our review of it. We’ve arrived at RLS a few days after they moved into the Nest (btw, It can be yours too!) and this place is astonishingly awesome. Apart from our team, at Nest, we’ve had the chance to meet other people like Dave Wesley, new companies such as Bloco (Sérgio and Claudia) and lots of other cool guys that work in this business. This is the Nest’s core and you wouldn’t believe how easy this makes work look like, simple things like sharing a cup of coffee after lunch or spending a few minutes arguing about the best ways to improve your work, this cozy environment is the most suitable to live your work.

Let’s dive into our internship program!
It all started with supervisionadordeprecarios.com.br, an idea proposed by Cioga followed by a strengthened analysis by JD and JB, it was presented to us like a web price tracking platform that would allow users to set alerts based on the product price. And so we’ve started our work experience with the Design Sprint, a process created by Google Ventures that aims to answer critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers.

Even though this should last for a week we’ve been able to shortcut it and finish it in only two days, It was “Our Design Sprint”. To get the process going we’ve started by unpacking the problem followed by, individually, sketching solutions on paper, some call this diverging, that was followed by converging into the same idea, until we had our first mockup.

The development began with JB giving us some training about Git, Agile, Ruby, Rails and other useful web stuff, right after the architecture discussion. We now had all the requirements to definitely start the development process and build the product we had in our minds. Alexandra, the Designer, mainly worked on the product identity and the web site design, André, the full stack developer and Mário, the Master Slacker, implemented the features to make everything work together. While Alexandra felt at home when playing with it’s design toys, learning how to be Sassy with CSS and annoying Renato and JG every five minutes, the guys had to dive deep into Ruby on Rails, that creepy magic little tool that creates lots of sh** out of nothing. By the end of the day things were getting cheaper.

Cheapr is still a little child but we hope to keep working on it, even though the internship is over, it has still so much to evolve. Today we have this website where you can track products, get alerted when It falls to the price that you were targeting, compare different prices from different stores and analise this price’s fluctuations over time. Beside that, you can install the Chrome Extension, that lets you easily add products for tracking without having to go to the webpage.

It’s hard to sum up everything we’ve done this summer but the time we’ve spent here is invaluable. Mike and Tony built something that goes beyond a usual company, this place, and it’s people, make you forget that you’re at the office but that still makes you productive, so productive that three dudes, with no work experience at all, were able to build a product in just a few weeks, while still slacking and enjoying the vacations. Since this is our last contribution to this home, at least for now, let us just say to all of you that followed us throughout this days, thank you!

The Interns.

Cheapr is now accessible to general public, limited to 1000 sign ups. Get onboard by signing up at getcheapr.co.

Originally published at blog.redlightsoft.com on October 26, 2015.

Redlight Summer Internship — Cheapr. was originally published in RedLight Blog on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

You probably heard the news. We moved into Nest and we’re pretty excited about it. But our new home isn’t meant just for us. We want you to be part of Nest.

Before we moved here, we felt the need for a new collaborative space in Coimbra. Some great places have closed, some are not tech-focused and some simply don’t appeal to startups with a more informal mindset. That’s why we felt in the need for something else. Something more focused with a thriving ecosystem where magic can actually happen.

Plus, you already know that Coimbra has lots of talented people throughout its hills and valleys. To see all the possibilites of great people bumping into each other being thrown away is just sad. Coimbra needs to take advantage of its people!

So a few weeks ago, we placed Nest strategically in the top of Centro Comercial Avenida. Geographically and historically, Avenida is the perfect place for you. Being located in the city center (Praça da República/Av. Sá da Bandeira) and a building that’s in desperate need for a renewed life. Right now, Nest is already the home of RedLight, Antunes & Simões, Bloco and Automattic (the guys behind WordPress) developers. And it can be yours too.

We designed a nice place to work and now we have 4 more cozy rooms that we want you to occupy.

Being located on top of Avenida Building, we have a lot to offer. Besides its great location, sunny terrace, and the services of Avenida itself, you’ll be provided with:

Fast Internet Connection;

Weekly Cleaning;

Kitchen equipped with fridge and microwave;

3 bathrooms;

Full access to the tennis table, PlayStation 3 and Sega MegaDrive;

Electric and water bills paid for;

All of this for just €220 + VAT/month.

If you’re interested in seeing what could be your next office, please e-mail us at info at redlightsoft.com. We’ll be glad to show you the place.

Originally published at blog.redlightsoft.com on August 6, 2015.

Nest can be yours too. was originally published in RedLight Blog on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
