What should web3.0 social media look like? — ULAS PostFi

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. — Albert Einstein

Introduction

Web2.0 social needs to change. We have suffered enough from the ever-existing echo chamber and cyberbullying due to the Information Cocoons built by the big social media companies. The social graphs that we spent time building are now toxic and polluted. Don’t even mention the uneven wealth distribution of the parties on the social media platform — users contribute the most yet receive the least.

A decentralized social protocol, which gives the opportunities to solve mentioned problems to users themselves, is inevitable. But how?

According to the Nature of the Future written by Marina Gorbis, a new social graph building requires five of the following:

Reward micro contributions which encourage social sharing;

Decentralized right confirmation of one’s personal data (NFT);

On-chain ranking system that leads to sociality formation.

Community organizers instead of managers;

Collaborative network at a universal scale to gather “The Wisdom of Crowds” and capture value more efficiently.

With the methodology of bringing changes to the existing social media landscape, we launched PostFi.

What is ULAS PostFi?

PostFi is a decentralized social media application, built on the ULAS social application chain. The game-changing application is committed to building a social reciprocal network in the WEB3 world, returning users’ their own social data, the right of whether they want to commercialize it or not and more importantly, commercialized services that makes commercialization of social influence easier than ever.

Enough of concepts, let’s talk business.

The following is a detailed explanation of ULAS-PostFi product features & mechanism design.

Note: ULAS-PostFi is currently open for use only by existing users who have DID cards, and will be open for use by everyone once the functionality is stable.

Delete the old chain

Note: Because ULAS-PostFi has done a lot of function upgrades and additions to the chain, to avoid incompatible or unstable chains, please make sure to delete the old chain!

Open the installed Keplr wallet and select a chain other than ULAS (take Cosmos Hub as an example):

After switching to the Cosmos Hub chain, click on the top selection box, slide down to the bottom (Beta support) and delete the ulas chain:

After removing the ULAS, you can start the following process.

Wallet connection and Sign-in

To make it easier to understand and use Ulas-PostFi, we can compare it to Web2’s Twitter, which mainly revolves around the PostFi function. After we finish adding the Ulas chain to the wallet, connecting the account, and authorizing the login, we can start using it.

First, visit the PostFi (app.ulas.network/PostFi):

Click the Connect Wallet button in the upper left corner to:

The Connect Wallet window pops up:

If your account is inactive, a Go to faucet prompt will appear when you click on Connect, follow the instructions:

Note: If you don’t have Keplr Wallet installed, please go to Chrome Plugin Marketplace and install it before proceeding

After claiming the test token, click to connect the wallet again, the wallet will have multiple pop-ups Request Approval windows, click Approve：

The first time the wallet has connected, a total of three pop-ups will be made for Approve, which are:

Add ULAS testnet chain to the wallet

ULAS connects to the wallet account

Sign in with ULAS

Once the account is connected and signed in, we can start exploring the features.

Post/Comment/Like/Follow

Create Post

Once we have an account, we can immediately start creating a Post and say Hello to ULAS!

Enter the Post content and click Create. The first time the Post has created the wallet will pop up requesting users’ approval, and if no Feegrant authorization is made an additional pop-up will request approval, as follows respectively.

- The user approves the granting of MsgPost permission to Grantee (as shown ulas1pxxfwa3e…8zrpy4ew), and the subsequent Post will be operated by Grantee on behalf of the chain, only the first time the wallet interaction is required for approval.
- The user approves the Feegrant operation and grant Grantee the number of ulas tokens that can be spent, the current default is 10ulas (Allowance = 10ulas, change is not supported for now), and only the first time the wallet interaction is required for approval.

The screenshot of the pop-up window is as follows:

After creating a Post, the page will automatically refresh and your Post will appear at the top and everyone can Comment/Like it. Try it now!

Create Comment

Comment on the just-posted Post:

Similarly, when making a Comment for the first time, the wallet will request the user’s approval in a pop-up:

The user approves the granting of MsgComment permission to Grantee, and subsequent creation of Comment will be operated by Grantee on behalf of the chain, requiring only the first wallet interaction for approve

After the approval is completed, you need to click “REPLY” again, and then you don’t need to interact with the wallet when you comment again.

Create Like

When a Like is clicked on a Post/Comment, the wallet will pop up requesting user approval for:

The user approves the granting of the MsgLike permission to Grantee, and subsequent clicks on Like will be operated by Grantee on behalf of the chain, only the first time the wallet interaction is required for approvals.

Follow

The social scene is of course inseparable from following, which will gradually build a social relationship network. The following try to Follow people you are interested in (take CitizenU as an example), on the first click of the Follow button, the wallet will pop up a window requesting user approval:

The user approves the permission to grant MsgFollow to Grantee, and the subsequent Follow other users will be operated by Grantee on behalf of the chain, only the first time the wallet interaction is required for approval.

After completing the above approvals, you need to follow CitizenU again, and finally, when the page is presented as follows, it means that the following is successful and you have completed the confirmation of the on-chain relationship with CitizenU.

Profile

ULAS created the DID campaign in the first place. When a user receives a DID, it means that the user has a unified WEB3 identity for ULAS, which will be used throughout the entire ULAS ecosystem. Therefore, if you have received a DID card during the DID campaign, your personal information, such as your avatar, nickname and other Metadata, will be automatically imported after you sign in to Ulas-PostFi with your original account wallet.

Of course, if you did not receive a DID card during the DID campaign, you can still create new personal information directly in the profile of Ulas-PostFi (Ulas-PostFi is not open to new users at this stage, so you will need to wait for a stable version to be released before you can use it).

Below we click on Profile in the left navigation bar to view our social behaviour as we try to update our DID:

Profile Settings

Note: It is recommended that the Banner does not exceed 10M, otherwise the IPFS upload may fail and you may face some unknown exceptions.

After filling out all the relevant input boxes, click Claim my did at the bottom and the wallet will pop up asking for user approval.

User approval will be granted to Grantee for MsgUpdateProfile, subsequent clicks on Like will be operated by Grantee on behalf of the chain, only the first-time wallet interaction is required for approval.

After completing the wallet interaction, you need to click “Claim my did” again, and when the transaction is successful, your DID is done updating!

Grant signature-free mechanism

For the goal of simplifying user interaction experience, we did not choose a wallet signature scheme similar to Lenster, which would cause frequent wallet interaction requests, but built a signature-free issuing and withholding mechanism based on Cosmos SDK’s authz and feegrant modules, similar to granting a specified number of tokens to the contract account, the user as Granter will specify the type of Msg authorized to Grantee, the various types of transactions initiated are actually executed by Grantee on behalf of the user, and the Gas fee generated by the transaction is set to Granter, i.e. the user itself, through the feegrant module.

And inside Ulas-PostFi, Post / Comment / Like / Follow / are different Message types, and each type of Message needs to be granted separately (which is a feature of Cosmos), so when users create Post, create Comment, click Like, follow someone, the first operation After the approve is done, we will grant a Feegrant, which will grant the Grantee a total of 10ulas of gas spending (which is enough to cover all the social gas spending of the user in 1 year), and then the subsequent operations will not need to interact with the wallet.

In a future version, we will centralize multiple types of Msg authorization into a unified permission control page, providing users with a permission management center that they can control on their own.

Reference

authz Introduction

feegrant Introduction

On-chain Trendy Posts

On-chain trendy posts is a post hotlist function based on on-chain calculation, using a low-overhead sorting algorithm to make the entire calculation process performed on the chain, and the hotlist is calculated in real-time for each block of Posts in the list.

The hot list on the chain maintains 10 of the trending Post, Post popularity from Comment and Like/Unlike, respectively, have different hotness value weights finally summed up to get the Post popularity score.

At the same time, we also introduce the heat decay calculation, and will gradually introduce weighting items such as personal identity and social network, in order to make the on-chain trending posts easier to use.

The Trendy Posts on the chain are still under continuous iteration.

Optimized Solution

When a new user connects to the wallet, 3 wallet interactions are required, the last one is when the wallet uses the private key to sign the message and sends it to the backend for signature verification, which ultimately enables the server to verify the client account identity.

Why do we still have a server-side? What does the server side do?

Our original reason for building the server side: the current WEB3 infrastructure is still not mature enough, and we need to support some Web2 infrastructure to make the overall service experience better!

Although our Post / Comment / Like / Follow behaviours are all on-chain, the text and images contained in Post and text and images contained in Comment are stored on IPFS, and the profile information is all stored on IPFS, this also poses the problem that the IPFS network is currently unable to meet the high-frequency content read/write requests of the Social scenario. This requires some web2 means to optimize the service and bring a smoother experience for users. Therefore, after uploading the original images from users’ Posts to IPFS, we additionally thumbnail the image resources and store them in AWS S3, which makes the client load the feeds faster and the users’ waiting time shorter.

Even if AWS is shut down due to an accident in the future, all our Metadata is on the IPFS network, our service can remain resilient.

In addition, we do a lot of structural encapsulation of IPFS resources on the server side to return to the client, which reduces the pressure of data processing on the client and makes the whole application lighter.

In the future, even if the server side is interrupted due to abnormalities, all the metadata will not be damaged. We will also adopt the server side for more optimization later.

For any queries:

· Website: https://ulas.network

· Discord: discord.gg/ulasnetwork

· Twitter: https://twitter.com/ulas_network

· Medium: https://medium.com/ulasnetwork

What should web3.0 social media look like? — ULAS PostFi was originally published in ULAS Network on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Firstly make sure you have claimed your DID on our website: ulas.network

Citizens who participate in the first campaign of ULAS received an ‘OG role’ on discord. It indicates your early contribution to the ULAS network.

If you, unfortunately, missed the first campaign, no worries, you can join this campaign: Contributors & Special NFTs Giveaway.

The objective of the campaign is to invite your friends to web2.0 to migrate to web3.0, more importantly, start building your social graph on-chain.

What is a “Souldrop”?

Consider airdrop not directly to your account, but your DID (decentralized account) aka “Soul”.

A “Soul” is synonymous with account, wallet, etc.

Souls could hold SBTs, which would be non-transferable, potentially revocable, and initially public; later on private SBT use cases will become more feasible.

SBTs can track “affiliations, memberships, and credentials” like “educational credentials, employment history, or hashes of […] writings or works of art.”

SBTs can be self-issued by a Soul, but importantly they can also be attested to by other Souls “who are counterparties to these relationships.”

Why Souldrop?

Web3.0 marketing, especially for the early project, is all about building community. While at the early stage of fostering a strong community, the key element is seed users. The acquisition of them is generally through airdrops. The first small group of people who join the community has a strong sense of belonging, they are evangelists, promoters and early believers. The higher the ratio of the seed users of an early project, the greater chance that the project can succeed. The airdrop campaign in web3.0 has its issues. Failed to target the right community members and potential Sybil attack are two of the many problems when projects are facing when deploying airdrops.

It is not only about ULAS. We have provided a marketing tool for advertisers to filter the target audiences to airdrop or simply deploy KOL marketing that generates expression. What’s more, the factors to describe a certain user consist of on-chain activities that generate SBTs (Soulbound Token). Advertisers can initiate a soul-drop by filtering people with SBTs. It can effectively prevent such things like failed targeting and Sybil attacks from happening by targeting ‘soul’. The non-tradable token can prove, for example, the attendance of 3 votings in the recent proposals or off-chain data. The mechanism will then motivates the users to create a relatively more compelling and interesting ‘soul’.

You can follow the instructions below to join:

1. Fill in gleam(https://gleam.io/Fl5Ux/-nft-giveaways-) and complete the steps;
2. Invite your friends to the discord channel of ULAS, with the invitation link generated by completing the above process;
3. If 3 of your friends finish the gleam form and eventually join the discord of ULAS, you will then be granted a [contributor] role on discord. First come, first served.

What’s more, we will rank people with the most invitations from 1–999, who will then receive a special NFT which will be airdropped to his/her wallet.

Notice:

People who receive the special NFT will receive OGs role on discord if they do not have one before.

period

2022/July/21st — 2022/July/31th

For any queries:

· Website: https://ulas.network

· Discord: https://discord.gg/ulasnetwork

· Twitter: https://twitter.com/ulas_network

· Medium: https://medium.com/ulasnetwork

How to participate in ULAS Souldrop? was originally published in ULAS Network on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

The administration of government, like guardianship, ought to be directed to the good of those who confer, not of those who receive the trust. — Cicero

People are the sum total of societal relationships. Facebook has over 2 billion daily active users. The user base of the social media giant has exceeded the most populated country in the world. With that amount of data feeds to the social graph, Facebook can illustrate an unprecedented granular profile of users. Quoted from an internet saying: Facebook knows you better than your mom. With the data, Facebook is making over $100 billion a year from mainly targeted ads.

While the dragon of Palo Alto is sleeping on the mountain of gold, users, in contrast, are suffering from data leakage and no financial return from producing valuable data and their social graph. Don’t even mention the complaints of the endless growth of marketing costs from the advertisers.

Problems to be solved

The problems in web 2.0 social media can conclude to one single principle: the Agency dilemma. Due to the TCP/IP protocol, which is the foundation network protocol of the internet era, the maintenance of the network effect requires centralized data centre to gather and distribute information. The data is the agency. The users are the principles.

Companies like Facebook, as agencies that are supposed to represent their principles (users) interests, failed to do so, due to the conflict of interest. Asymmetric information leads to uneven distribution of wealth among users and creators; the monopoly of data storage and analyzing technology results in endless pursuits for profit from advertisers.

Solution

Blockchain is the most tangible solution to the dilemma. The thriving of the De-fi has proven the theory. De-fi has demonstrated the possibility of eliminating centralized institutions like banks and securities will not affect the transactions and trading from peer to peer. Such parties have resulted in the sub-prime crisis of 2008, leading to bankruptcies and homelessness of their principles — investors.

If the next step of the decentralized movement is social media, why now? The missing puzzle was the NFT, which only thrived since the end of 2021 and not until now, have people started to realize the real usage of the non-fungible token protocol — to prove ownership. In the case of social media, it verifies users’ personal data.

NFT eliminates the necessity of a centralized institution to prove the authority of data, IPFS solves the data storage problem, while the nature of the blockchain mechanism ensures the social graph is open-sourced. Any developers can access any social graph where multi-chain data is aggregated into a decentralized ID. Users can freely move to any chain, any application without bothering to rebuild their social connections. That’s the consensus on how web3.0 would change the web2.0 social media competitive landscape.

Yet SocialFi is never a new concept in web3.0. Monaco planet started to build its SocialFi application two years ago but has not taken off for long. Recently Aave team launched their social protocol: lens protocol and lenster as a social tool adjacently. The latter party has claimed successfully acquired over 200,000 users, even Vitalik himself registered an account on the application. Project galaxy and cyber connect, are certainly on your watchlist if you are paying attention to the recent web3.0 social building wave.

But web3.0 seem to have the same approach to solving the web2.0 social media dilemma. What makes a new decentralized social protocol stands out? Or to be specific, what is the missing puzzle to achieve the goal?

Questions to ask:

If the social protocol incentivizes non-economic activities without requiring further spending, which is Monaco planet’s approach, where does that money comes from or it is just another X-to-earn Ponzi scheme?

If users need to pay for certain social activities that generate data, why would they do such things? Or what would be the return on investment?

How can users and advertisers share a non-fragmented user experience to build and profit from the social graph seamlessly?

We have come to a simple conclusion:

Social Graph Analysis built by ULAS

Finding the missing puzzle: advertisers.

The solution is straightforward: to attract third-party — advertisers to pay the users, which leads to the next question, why would advertisers promote on the new social graph?

To attract advertisers, of course, the best way is to acquire as many users as possible, yet more than that. The airdrop campaign in web3.0 has its issue. Failed to target the right community members and potential Sybil attack are two of the many problems when projects deploy airdrops.

Social Graph Analysis: Marketing tools of ULAS

ULAS provides a marketing tool for advertisers to filter the target audiences to airdrop or simply deploy KOL marketing that generates expression. What’s more, the factors to describe a certain user consist of on-chain activities that generate SBTs (Soulbound Token). Advertisers can initiate a soul-drop. It can effectively prevent such things from happening by targeting ‘soul’, which can be SBTs to prove the attendance of 3 votings in the recent proposals or off-chain data. The mechanism will then motivates the users to create a relatively more compelling and interesting ‘soul’.

Users with tags and preferences receive airdrop to their DID bonded wallet, in other words, soul. Therefore, the problem is solved. Users’ DID (decentralized ID) where multi-chain data is aggregated will receive targeted airdrops as rewards without bothering to apply them one by one. The data includes users’ historic on-chain activities, assets across chains and general preferences. It can be used as a reverse-lookup to help crypto projects seamlessly deploy targeted airdrop by applying filters like:

Related topic and comments;

Projects cooperated;

Influence and monetization ability in one social graph;

Preferred public chains and D-app etc

Fans portrait

ULAS Social Graph Analysis and Rating System

Web 3.0 native social tools ensure a non-fragmented user experience

The benefit of having web3.0 native social media in the process of incentivized social graph building is obvious. Users, especially KOL with social impact in web 2.0, will no longer need to experience fragmented applications switch from web 2.0 to web 3.0. Projects, on the other side, which require marketing to attract users through KOL’s social influence can manage their ROI of the campaign transparently, without bothering the ever-existing fake followers and performance tracking. Because every social post is recorded on ULAS social application chain.

For any queries:

· Website: https://ulas.network

· Discord: https://discord.gg/cBzxqDyECp

· Twitter: https://twitter.com/ulas_network

· Medium: https://medium.com/ulasnetwork

Reference:
https://www.news.com.au/technology/online/social/theres-a-new-top-tiktokker-you-wont-believe-what-he-earns/news-story/43a45ed39ea9a0b9c4d95a58eb2703f0#:~:text=Khaby Lame net worth%3A Top,au — Australia’s leading news site
https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4105763

ULAS Social Graph Rating Protocol: where advertisers pay directly to users was originally published in ULAS Network on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Ulas is a Web 3.0 social network consensus, built on core modules like Cosmos SDK, Tendermint Core, and CosmWasm. It is one of the most important networks of the Cosmos ecosystem.

Based on Ulas, we are expecting a wide range of social graphs to be built based on the web3.0 identity system. We use the multi-chain DID mechanism to realize the identity system.

The value of multi-chain DID

Autonomous and controlled user identity

The ultimate goal of multi-chain DID (decentralized identity) is to empower users with autonomous control over their own data in a Web 3.0 world. Ulas ensure citizens’ freedom to talk, share and connect in the social space by protecting their data privacy to resist censorship through blockchain.

Multi-chain Web3 Identity & Data Value Maximization

Ulas multi-chain DID is the foundation of web3.0 identity. with the help of IPFS + IPNS storage, it can expand and integrate the multi-chain data of Web3.0 identity to maximize the data value.

How to implement multi-chain DID technically

Referring to the DIF and W3C DID standards, we have launched a multi-chain DID mechanism based on the Ulas chain (Cosmos ecosystem).

Such implementation through the wallets from different chains, using the signature to achieve a relationship mapping between multi-chain addresses and DIDs and finally achieving DID aggregation of multi-chain identities.

In terms of the specific implementation, we split the multi-chain DID into two modules.

Non-transferable contract based on CosmWasm implementation

Relational mapping and data storage based on IPFS implementation

Non-transferable Contracts

Cosmwasm is the mainstream smart contract engine module in the Cosmos ecosystem (it can be understood as EVM module of ETH). Ulas links into the Cosmwasm module and implements a series of self-designed contract templates. Non-transferable contracts are an important part of the multi-chain DID mechanism. It is deployed on the Ulas chain. The contracts are integrated and bound through IPFS, attributes to tokenUrl.

Secondly, the non-transferable contract is similar to the NFT contract design — each TokenID of the contract is unique, but the ID format is implemented based on the W3C DID standard: did:ulas:0123...ghi, as follows.

Non-transferability is the most important feature of this contract, and more of its features are similar to Soulbound Token (SBT) mentioned by Vitalik, reference [EIP-4671: Non-Tradable Tokens Standard](https://eips.ethereum. org/EIPS/eip-4671), Non-Tradable Tokens is the core module to build the value of personal reputation score and social relationship upon it.

Relationship Mapping and Data Storage

As we all know, blockchain is not suitable for storing large-scale and high-frequency user data, so it is necessary to seek off-chain storage solutions. On the one hand, it saves citizens’ gas fees, and on the other hand, it improves the read/write/storage speed of user data, both of which are crucial for user experience.

Based on the above requirements, we selected the IPFS storage solution, whose decentralized storage features make user data controllable and censorship-resistant, and the redundant backup mechanism also provides a solid guarantee for storage security.

The read/write/storage speed of IPFS is still different from the current centralized cloud service, so we established an encrypted caching mechanism based on the centralized cloud service to make the user’s experience better.

After satisfying the above requirements, we build a data structure based on JSON for multi-chain DID aggregation mapping:

The user confirms the private key signature through the wallet and transmits the signature information to the Ulas chain through the API. The signature verification function implemented by the underlying module of the Ulas chain will verify it. When the verification is passed, the program will execute the IPFS aggregation mapping data write, and finally, complete the user DID integration with the new chain address, which also completes the new relationship mapping.

When users use Ulas Dapp, they can choose the specified chain data and assets of the specified blockchain for public & binding operations, and the data for related operations are stored in the specified namespace allocated by IPFS — IPNS, that is, each The DID and IPFS storage mapping are unchanged, which avoids IPFS rebuilding the CID(Content Identifier), without bothering the remapping procedure between DID and CID. In short, this will further enhance the user experience.

Application scenarios for multi-chain DID

Web3 Social Graph

The primary scenario of multi-chain DID is to build a profile of non-transferable, aggregated on-chain data & assets, off-chain identity & asset proof Web3.0 identities around Web3 Social Graph. With the profile, citizens from either Ethereum or Cosmos can socialise with friends from other chains, transfer the asset, and expand their social graph that is based on multi-chain data.

Unified Login

Multi-chain DID is generated by a set of private keys. The set of keys will further ensure the unity of multi-chain wallet login without the necessity to create a new private for every chain. The multi-chain login will then be achieved.

Note: Ulas has integrated Cosmos and EVM ecosystem within its unified login system. You can simply use Ulas account to login to both Keplr and MetaMask wallets.

Authentication

A large number of networks involving value, especially the networks of financial products, all require good KYC and AML, especially KYC. It is necessary to obtain the identity information of users, and it is very complicated to authenticate once for each financial website registration, using multi-chain DID for authentication can simplify this process, binding the multi-chain DID with the information under the chain to authorize authentication will do the work. In the future, DID can be used for proxy authentication of each financial network.

Privacy Protection

In the future, the multi-chain DID will be based on the PDC (Personal Data Center) scheme, where personal data is encrypted and stored in the personal data centre (IPFS designated namespace IPNS) and associated with the personal DID. Everyone is responsible for their own data. When a request occurs of obtaining private data of the user, the authorization of the DID is required to decrypt the access.

multi-dimensional privacy protection and secure access to data will be further achieved through selective disclosure and zero-knowledge proof schemes.

How to claim multi-chain DID

We’ll be launching our multi-chain DIDs for collection this week. Stay tuned!

For any queries, don’t hesitate to reach us on:

Website: https://ulas.network

Discord: https://discord.gg/cBzxqDyECp

Twitter: https://twitter.com/ulas_network

Medium: https://medium.com/ulasnetwork

Multi-chain DID for ULAS Network： Empowers the advent of DeSoc in the Web 3.0 was originally published in ULAS Network on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

The shrink is measured not only at its trading volume, but core data like the monthly active user, and total NFTs sold have also appeared to decrease.

A quote from Gary Vaynerchuk, an activist on social media marketing who lately launched his own NFT project “Vee Friends” said: We are predicting a bubble burst of the NFT at the end of 2022, only about 2% of the projects can survive as if they have great brand image and follow-up landing cases. While the price of the rest 98% of the NFTs is more likely to return its true value, which is nearly zero.

It’s inevitable to think the form of “marketplace of NFT” has come to an end, represented by OpenSea and other similar NFT marketplaces like Looksrare etc. It brought up a simple question:

what is the future of the NFT?

Coinbase has a very unique perspective. The company has recently released a new NFT trading platform. The platform will allow users to showcase their personal profiles and follow accounts whose content will appear in a “For You” feed, just Instagram and TikTok. Users will also be able to “like” and comment on each other’s posts. Given the fact that the launch is successful, thanks to its 9 million user base, we can foresee a more grass-rooted scenario of the NFT — building a social network based on trust.

What does that exactly means?

We have an interview with Aaron Liu, who founded ULASNetwork, a fair and secured blockchain that allows developers to create decentralized DAPP easily. One of the about-to-launch applications is an NFT marketplace like Coinbase. The difference is ULAS Network has a bigger ambition of building its own social ecosystem, NFT is simply just a utility to build trust and encourage engagement.

The project has recently launched a feature called “tribe” where NFT owners can connect his/her wallet NFT portfolio. The platform will automatically showcase his/her ROI to the ULAS public society. People from outside of the ‘tribe’ can easily keep track of their NFT portfolio and invest with the best “tribe”. If it sounds familiar, yes, it is the private equity business model. What’s different, well, it is more transparent.

AMA:

Aaron Liu, Founder & CEO of ULAS Network

Tell me why you founded ULAS Network, and start your journey by developing an NFT marketplace on Cosmos, knowing there is already a predominant NFT marketplace like OpenSea?

Aaron:

Opensea has done a remarkable job as an NFT marketplace, without a doubt. We, however, have never positioned ourselves as an NFT marketplace. You can easily tell from our name “ULAS”, it reminds everyone of art, science, and collaboration. We are not satisfied with providing only a marketplace, but rather a community where people can connect to likelihood, based on their interests, gain trust through their social work and create value for the community. ULAS’s job is to create useful tools and applications to make sure it happens and open-sourced our blockchain to attract more developers to join to achieve the goal. NFT marketplace is clearly our first thing to do, but certainly not the last.

2. Why Cosmos?

Aaron:

The current Layer 1 & 2 solutions simply can’t support the building of a complicated App, one that people are used to in Web2.0. Cosmos can.

We believe the future development of the blockchain is based on a cross-chain ecosystem. Just like the revolution from the “ARPA net” to the “internet”, the cosmos will be the internet of the blockchain. What’s more, cosmos provides us with easy-to-use tools to make sure we can develop our network and products fast enough so that we can gather users’ feedback and iterate fast. Eventually ended up at the stage where we own multiple must-have products on the public mainnet, at a relatively fast pace.

3. Tell us about the term: Social-Fi and how you perceived it?

Aaron：

People are the sum total of societal relationships. People’s social activities are motivated by societal excitation. The entity of the excitation used to be religion, family and country. We believe, with the development of the blockchain, in the future, he who holds the power of the excitation should be people themselves, governed by an absolutely neutral entity — aka. smart contract. We provided tangible tools to make sure our community can develop transitive trust. That means a lot.

4. You have a deep understanding of the crypto industry, tell more about yourself. How do you get into this industry?

Aaron:

I started my career as a machine learning engineer in one of the top AI companies, where I participated in some blockchain projects including Filecoin etc. That’s how I made my first bucket of money. I then invest all of them into ULAS Network because I believe we are at the stage of blockchain is 5:30 am in a day, just about to see the sunrise. Whoever can use the utility of NFT, Defi to create tangible applications for society, is going to end up making a great leap forward to not only the blockchain ecosystem but also, all across the globe.

NFT marketplace has come to an end, now what? To achieve the goal, society, from our

narrow perspective, needs to turn around from expanding.
