Did you feel that?  Was that rain?  Has the humidity risen to such a level without raining that the air around us is turning into water?  The grass around my home has turned an ugly shade of “baby poo yellow”  and my poor flowers can’t get enough water no matter how we try.  But now, the clouds have rolled in, the sky is dark, and the rain began.  This longed for shower came just in time to allow us all in this area to enjoy our BBQs and fireworks. 

As for me, I didn’t make it to the big show because no one else was gonna go.  Instead we opted for buying some.  We knew my sister and her husband had picked up lots of the smaller fireworks and fountains so we opted for providing the finale.  This year, the young salesman was good.  He even talked me into buying some of those I walk quickly by pushing the kids ahead of me with a firm, “No.”  You know, the ones that make you say, “People pay $50 for a firecracker?”  Well, I guess we say that about all of them.  Anyway, turns out, these monsters are well worth the cost.  Sitting underneath, in a large yard surrounded by trees, these filled our entire visible sky.  I now highly recommend the larger fireworks and will definately be getting more like this.  OH!  And I forgot my camera!!  I have NO pictures from this years gathering.  My mom had her patio decorated and arranged a set-up of putt-putt croquet which was very entertaining, complete with tubes, sand traps, difficult angles, and even a hole near the end. 

Now that everyone except for me has their pictures out and ready to scrap of the 4th of July, I’ve got the Vintage Americana Brag Book put together.  Myself, I’ll be “stealing” pictures from my sisters to send this album to family who couldn’t make it in for the holiday.  Complete yours in minutes with this antique style brag book and carry around with you to show off to friends and family or use for inexpensive, handmade gifts that are sure to delight.

Oh what a weekend.  As a child growing up in the city, 4th of July was a favorite holiday.  Heading to the levee, sporting our glow necklaces, we would roll down the hill over and over again until nearly dark.  Once the sun started going down it was a not so patient wait until dark.  Shortly, you see the first streamer shooting into the air with a whistle and the show has begun.  While living in the country has tremendous benefits and I love being here, at certain times I long for home.  Firework shows are a rare treat for my children having only seen a few real spectacles.  This year will be different.  After a day with family and a lot of good food, we will head to the levee to see the sights.  I hope you all also enjoy your holiday.
