Memory Scraps

Only 10 more days!  Can you believe it!?  This is the first year I am completely done this far before the big day and I still feel like I NEED to go shopping.  There’s no more room under my tree.  My credit card has a balance higher than I ever want to see again.  But still… There’s 10 more days!  How can I be done!?  I love Christmas shopping and just buying up everything I see that “someone” will like.  Sometimes, I just can’t pass it up.  Even if I have to figure out who to give it to later.  Fortunately for me, the only store in town is a small Wal-Mart and I’ve already been through every aisle in there at least a dozen times.  (There’s nothing there…)  Any better store is an hour away so I’m safe and can’t spend any more cause I’m not driving.

My son is still in grade school so his Christmas starts tomorrow with his school party.  This is my daughter’s first year without a school party.  I wonder if I should get her a small gift for when she gets home…. I guess everything doesn’t have to be fair, but for the sake of being able to shop a little more I may just do that.  This weekend starts Christmas for the rest of the family when we head to my in-laws’ for Christmas dinner and present opening.  This is where it gets hard.  After Sunday, I have to wait until Thursday to give out any more gifts!

I finally did my first bit of offline shopping yesterday and I might even be almost done!  Finally put the tree up last night.  I’m falling way behind with all the hustle and bustle this year but I just might be starting to get the holiday cheer.

Do the kiddos still believe in Santa?  I have one too old for that now and the other… he probably knows… But we’ll pretend for 1 more year.  As a matter of fact, growing up at Mom’s, Santa came every year until I moved out.  Presents where hidden until Christmas morning, we made cookies Christmas Eve, we had to wait for Mom and Dad to get up before we could open anything, excep the stockings….  Now that we are all grown up and moved out, Santa even comes for DH and Me.  Something small and little stocking of candy left near our seats so we will be sure to find them come Christmas Day. 

Moral of the story:  You don’t have to believe in Santa for him to visit.  He’s just that type of guy!
