What really motivates me to spend nights stuck on the computer keyboard? Good question, I'm asking myself several times too!
Maybe just having some fun because creating something useful for others can really be a very good feeling. Sometimes just starting to create a quick solution for a missing functionality and apparently finding it growing into a complex application. Mostly just working on my "job".
The reason does not really matter, one thing is sure, I've always wanted to do that in my own way which means for me as error-proof, useful, and feature-rich as it can be.

Stream Player

Stream Player is a lightweight internet stream player with several smart features to aid OneClick stream playing in a dedicated player window.

Currently, the available Mac app features are

• Quick opening as a source of media stream URLs, URL text, or HTML source snippet selections, local HTML files either from macOS services and context menus or using drag & drop onto the application dock icon, status menu icon, or any stream window.

    ⁃ Safari supported common streams over HTTP
(HLS, WebRTC, fMP4, etc.)

• Always on top, full-screen, and captionless player windows.
• iCloud drive sync to share and synchronize the stream list between your iOS and macOS devices.

• Player window arrangement in tile layout, ideal for watching f.e. multiple web cams at once.
• Automatic stream title detection.
• Automatic, user-configurable embedding of well-known video URLs as full-sized window content.
• Automatic reopening of selected stream windows at Stream Player startup.
• Customizable sub-menu hierarchy to store streams in a structured manner, Watch Later, Favorites, etc. lists.
• Customizable application quit behavior, you can keep Stream Player in the status menu or let it exit normally or automatically if all windows are closed.
• Customizable web stream content behaviors, enabling or disabling navigation, context menus, and editing.
• Ad blocking in stream contents.
• A basic Finder-like stream organizer on macOS for easier handling of multiple stream entries at once.

Useful Mac services (UMS)

UMS is a collection of handy macOS Services and an Application to manage, and configure services on your system. Services are contextual workflows available throughout macOS. They accept text or files from the current application or the Finder and appear in the Services menu. They can be used to shorten repetitive tasks f.e on files or folders.

The UMS app supports on-the-fly Service customization via configuration plugins, and also let you easily edit the icon and description of each installed service. Letting UMS run continuously will add the ability to get notified about any changes in your services folder or about available new or updated services.

Currently selectable service components

Symbolize services
Symbolize service menu items are simple service wrappers around symbolizelog, symbolizealllogs and add2symbolpath scripts (together with symbolizehelpers helper script) that can be used to symbolize macOS crash logs, hang, stall, or sample files.

Copy Paths services
Copy Paths adds the ability to copy the full path, directory name, or file name parts of the selected finder items to the clipboard.

Mail Creation services
Mail Creation adds the ability to create mail with attachments (from the currently selected files/directories), with currently selected texts as message body or from clipboard content both via the default mailer of the current user.

Make URL Tiny services
Make URL Tiny shortens the current URL the service invoked for and copies the produced short URL to the clipboard automatically or mail in the message body of a new mail via the default mailer of the current user.

Terminal services
Currently serves one simple task, opens a new terminal tab, and navigates to the selected path the service was invoked for.

Run Elevated services
Run elevated menu item currently serves one simple task, runs the selected application or binary as root after elevating to gain proper rights to do so.

VPN Guard

VPN Guard is a small macOS status menu application to monitor your macOS VPN connections and keep connected them as currently the OS lacks this feature.

​Currently available features

• Monitoring VPN connections’ status and connection time
• Automatically and continuously keeping VPN connections alive, and connected
• Getting macOS notifications about any VPN connection status changes
• Simple macOS status menu interface

Known issues, limitations

​- Currently, only the built-in Cisco IPSec and L2TP over IPSec VPNs supported, IKEv2 is not enumerated by System Configuration Framework and can be managed by macOS only
- Currently, only the default service configuration supported for each VPN services, I’ll try to figure out how to ask for all the configuration information later.

Smart Tunes

Smart Tunes is a small tool to monitor, manage, save, and restore the state of iTunes application from the macOS status menu as iTunes currently lacks these basic features.

Currently available features

• Automatic starting and stopping of iTunes at Smart Tunes startup and exit
• Monitoring, saving, and restoring iTunes last played track and playing/paused state on computer wake-up, computer lock/unlock, user session activation
• Customizable displaying iTunes and currently played track status in the macOS status menu
• Controlling iTunes via a nice mini app embedded in the macOS status menu
• Searching iTunes tracks from the macOS status menu using customizable hot-key
• Having dedicated lyrics editor/viewer window with always on top option, customizable look, and hot-key
• Automatic searching and updating of empty lyrics of the currently played track
• Searching the web for lyrics of the currently played track using a customizable hot-key in the default browser
• Quick update the lyrics of the currently played tracks using macOS copy clipboard and copy selection services
• Searching the web for album cover artwork of the currently played tracks using a customizable hot-key in the default browser
• Quick update the album cover artwork of the currently played track or its entire album using copy/paste and drag&drop support on mini player artwork image and application status menu item, also via macOS copy clipboard and copy selection services
• Support of restoring legacy behavior of media key handling as in macOS 10.13 High Sierra the OS started to direct media key events to the active application without user consent instead of letting it be handled by iTunes (or at least giving a choice to the users)

Known issues, limitations

- There is no option (for a sandboxed app, the one that you are downloading from the Mac App Store) to control iTunes if it is showing a modal window (e.g. a notification about syncing with your phone is interrupted) as in such case commands to the iTunes application cannot be delivered, if you find that commands from Smart Tunes does not work please check the iTunes application state and respond/close those modal windows
- Because lack of a reliable, officially supported solution updating artwork images of tracks managed by a cloud-based service, like iTunes Match, modifying the artwork images is enabled only for locally stored iTunes track items!

The minimum required macOS version is 12.0 Monterey for Smart Tunes!

SpotifyBar

SpotifyBar is a small tool to monitor, and manage state of the macOS Spotify client application, search lyrics and album covers of the currently played track, all from the macOS status menu and via assignable hot-keys.

Basic Process Manager

Basic Process Manager is a lightweight replacement of the macOS built-in Activity Monitor to quickly examine and terminate the running macOS process.

Comparison with Activity Monitor:

• It uses less system resources
• It is much quicker in most of the cases, launches and responds quicker even under heavy system load
• Can kill multiple processes at once
• Can kill processes using keystrokes
