So for Christmas vacation, the single kids of the family decided to come down to Texas. While usually, I am picking up those that get delayed flights and such, I was on the other side this time. My flight was originally delayed 2-3 hours. Unfortunately I had some music playing too loud on headphones and missed the announcement that it was going to leave from a different gate. Well, it was an hour later than it was supposed to leave, and I was at the original gate when they started calling for those to get on a later flight at the gate. So, I ended up taking a flight that was to leave 7 hours later than that. All in all, we ended up in Houston around 4 am.
Our first few days we mostly read books and did a bit of christmas, clothes, and food shopping. We ended up going to a church christmas/white elephant party. Our gifts we added to the pile consisted of debbie cookies and root-beer type drinks. I ended up getting a set of salt/pepper shakers with turkeys on them. It was fairly fun. We were there for about 3 days before T arrived.
Since T arrived, we've gone to the gym here at the gated apartment community twice, have rented both Iron Man and The Hulk, and watched various other movies around the aparment. One of the more interesting ones is a French Movie, Amelie. It has catchy music. Otherwise we have sat around, read books, put together two new puzzles that were Christmas gifts, and have spent our evening playing games such as Hearts, Nerts, Taboo, Chicken-foot (dominoes), Rummikub, Scrabble, and others. Among the books I've read so far, there's The Warrior Heir, the Wizard Heir, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (the second book). A few days before Christmas, we went out Christmas Caroling, though less than half of the people were home in the area we went to. Christmas itself was pretty fun. I got a set of 3 books, a pedometer, a bean-bag type thing, a movie: Final Fantasy - Advent Children, and a roll of bubble wrap (gag gift). We haven't done much since Christmas, though we did get a visit from Dad and Sue, who were on their way to some of her relatives further west in Texas.

Year in Review
Giovanni's
I started the year out working at Giovanni's Pizza for the 3rd time, as I missed out on the training classes required to work at H&R Block again. (You can blame Texas Roadhouse for that one. Worst job I ever had.) It was pretty fun this time around, though once again I quit in the middle of a shift, and none of the Giovanni's will hire me back now, which really sucks as all the other pizza places (which is about the best job you can get around here with no training or school) are far worse to work for.
As to why I keep quitting? I don't really know. Guess I follow suit with everybody else who works there and treat it like a temp. job that really doesn't matter. I've actually thought recently that my new job strategy should be to actually work at a temp. company, so I'll really never feel like quitting a job, as I won't be there long enough to do so. And in the process, I might actually find a job that I would want to do for a long time.
New Girlfriend
While I was at Giovanni's Pizza, one of the older waitresses there introduced me to her daughter, who happened to be around 29 years old, and we ended up dating. She was pretty cool. She played in almost every other sport though middle school and high school, including wrestling, so she was quite tough. Makes quite a difference compared to the usual dainty types, especially for a brute like me. Everyone else usually get hurt too easy.
Well, we had fun for a few months, but I ended up breaking up with her (via text-messaging). My main reason was that I didn't have enough money, as I had just quit Giovanni's and ended up putting more money that I should have at the time towards paying off credit cards and I had to start paying rent soon, as dad was getting married and leaving the apartment. Truthfully, I had other reasons as well. I was starting to develop feelings for her, and as she had quite a '"heavy use of 'light' drugs" as I'll call it, It was probably for the best. In the past I really hadn't come accross it much at all, so I didn't think much of it, as it wasn't very evident on the surface with her. Getting to know her more, it really showed that she didn't care about much at all in life, not in a good way, like Trueblat's, but it a bad way. Since then, we've talked a bit on the phone and hung out a bit, but I try to keep my distance.
Roommate Hassles
After Dad got married, T was my roommate for the summer, which wasn't too bad, though we were expecting to do quite a bit more exercising and other fun activities. After she left for college, my attempts at getting a new roommate were dashed quickly. I put fliers all over the community college here, and even though I saw the fliers months later with only 2 of the tear-off phone numbers left, I received only one phone call in total. I ended up with no roommate for a few months, and had dad loan me the money to pay the extra part of the rent.
In the later part of Fall, I finally did get a roommate, though it wasn't as great as I expected. It was some old woman (in her 50's-60's) that has been kicked out of one of the apartments in the same complex. Yeah, very stupid idea on my part, but I preferred to have any roommate rather than none. She had been kicked out for non-payment of the rent, as her child support money was coming to an end. She stayed in the apartment a grand total of maybe 1-2 weeks, and did manage to clean it up a tiny bit more than I usually kept it.
It ended when the landlady had aparently called dad and he mentioned that I had a new roommate. The landlady figured out who it was and called me up, not sounding too happy about it, as the woman had cost her a total of around $2000 dollars with past due rent and the legal fees to evict her from the previous apartment. She also mentioned that the woman's son was supposedly the one responsible for the 2 thefts from other apartments in our complex. I had to kick them out that next day - which just happened to be 3 days before she got her next disability check, which she was planning on giving all $4-500 of it to me for the previous weeks, the next month, and to compensate for being 'nice' for taking her in. All in all, I guess I learned a few good lessons. One being that I personally do better without roommates.
School/Work
I went to school in the Fall semester only, as the class I needed, Calc 2, was only offered there in the fall. I also took a Geography class, a History Class, and a Basic Computer Class. I ended up failing both the Geography and Calculus class. Considereing this and my past record in college grades, I have started to consider other options since. Somehow managing to only work for Brent Sturgill and Pat Beaman from May to October, I finally got a job working for Pizza Hut. I was planning on only working in the kitchen, but somehow they conned me into delivering, which wouldn't be so bad, but the you have to use your own vehicle, and the van is still on its last legs. It was supposed to had the transmission go out almost a year ago.
The only problems I've had with it recently is the belt, which we had to replace at least three times, though due to whatever the guy did that was working on it, we eventually had no problems with it, and he also happened to fix the majority of the stalling out that the van does. The other problem I had with the van is one of the rods that controls the front tires broke, so I got that and the other rod replaced as well. It was fairly fun working at Pizza Hut, though even the Managers there were lazier than the average regular employee we had at Giovanni's, and we didn't even have half the deliveries that Giovanni's had. They did have better Pizza there though, and you didn't even have to pay for it at all as long as your were working.
As my lease at the apartment was up in mid-December and I would be moving elsewhere soon, I gave 2 weeks notice at Pizza Hut, making it the first time I have done that at any job. Although, in my defense, more than half the times I ended employment at a place, it was more because the season ended (in the case of school, tax-season and other things).
Future Plans
I applied to UK back in late October, though I still haven't received word from them. With the mail being transfered from the apartment to Dad's new place, it might be quite a while till I actually get any mail about it, so I'll have to wait till the admissions office is back open after the winter break to call and find out. If I get in, I could get a Bachelor's in Accounting in 2-2.5 years. If I don't, I'll be working in Lexington, attempting to find a job where I can be promoted to something decent or at least get a good job on my resume.
