Merry Christmas in Gamu Branch

We had a great celebration for our "no pesos left in the budget" Gamu Branch Christmas Party.  Everyone contributed what they could.  The decorations were all handmade by the Young Single Adults.  People brought food to contribute.  We made peppermint brownies and Danish rice pudding. We probably had over 150 people including many less active families.

We had all of those wonderful things you all sent:  white shirts and ties, toy treats for the young children, candy canes, stickers. . . (included with the thoughtful games and treats you sent for us!)    Elder Wooden's parents sent some treats and prizes, and the Elders bought some local candy for prizes too.  Aunt Ann had sent a small package with CTR pencils, stickers, and small pictures from Deseret Book.  They were helpful to make sure even the teenagers had something.  We had made some small coloring books with crayons to go in the children's gift bag with their candy toy and stickers.

The Relief Society Presentation

We started with the old Luke II video and a spiritual message by Brother Daggao.  Then we had a program which included presentations from all the auxilliaries.  Then the Elders were in charge of games. Elder Villania is a natural game host and really made it fun.

The Primary had learned "I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus" so the young Primary Presidency taught them actions to go with it.  They loved it!

The Young Men's President decided to present the white shirts and ties to the Young Men at the party.  You can see how excited they are.

The program ended with another short Christmas video the Elders had brought and then they shared their testimonies.  It was a memorable evening!

Here are the fruit of your labors.  They did tuck their shirts in for Sacrament Meeting.  The boy in the center holding the hymn book is only 11 but these are his cousins and friends.  During the sacrament I looked up and noticed he was passing the sacrament.  oops!

Thank you for all your contributions to our Branch!
It was a happy night for all.
Sunday these deacons sang
"Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains" as a musical number in sacrament meeting.

Rockin' the last week of school.

Marc really wanted to cut Ivan's hair, but as you know, he has been growing it out for quite a while.  The compromise was that Ivan could have a mohawk for the week and then Marc would cut it all off. So, here are my rocker children...

The Mills Running Gene

Image

Not only is the Mills "running gene" manifesting itself like crazy lately, but it's also proving to be contagious - Sherri and I have caught it.  Last Saturday was the Ogden Marathon and the Mills rocked it.  Gretchen and Melissa ran like the wind.  We found the 4:30 pacer guy at the beginning of the race and decided to try and stay with him.  I gave up on keeping up with him literally 1 mile later, but Gretch and Mis not only kept up with him, but beat him.  There is just something about beating boys . . .
Joel was absolutely ridiculous.  He ran 3:25.  Dude.  I am so proud of him because at about mile 16 his body was begging him to slow down, but he dug deep and decided he was going to leave nothing on the course.  And he didn't.   I also love that he ran me into the home stretch across the finish line.  I was a little delirious, to the point that that I didn't see him running by me, but I am blown away that as tired as he was, he would support me like that.   I absolutely loved that race - loved the course and loved the people I ran it with.  The Mills do INDEED rock!

We're up and running

Hey Everyone!

I finally got to it.  We officially have a family blog.  The purpose of this blog is to keep a little more connected. Please post fun (or not so fun things) that are going on in your family. Each of you should have access to post.  If you have any trouble or questions, let me know.  You are welcome to change things around on the Layout or whatever as well.

As soon as I know what Mom and Dad's blog is, I'll put that on the list on the side.
