Happy Birthday to ME!!

I've had such a fabulous birthday! The big 2-8. My dad was so sweet to remind me I'm almost 30...thanks Dad. We started off the day with two limericks (yes, limericks) written by Michael. One was funny and one was sweet and I loved them both! After that, Michael took me to Panera for breakfast so I could get a cinnamon crunch bagel with honey walnut cream cheese and a hazelnut coffee. Yum! Michael had to work (at least a little) today, but he took a little break to bring me a lime slush from Sonic. When he came home this afternoon, he brought me a card and flowers. He also arranged for the Wiley's to watch Macy while we went out tonight. (Thanks SO much Mike, Julie Ann, and Brookie!) We had dinner in Bricktown and then went to The Orange Tree for dessert. (By the way, that place is AWESOME. Thanks to Michelle for the recommendation.) On top of all of that, Michael also got me a new purse and running watch. Thanks Michael for a great birthday! :)

Michael at the Orange Tree. He was seriously like a kid in a candy store. He had cookies 'n cream yogurt with gummy bears, chocolate chips, and cherries.

My Mom is faster than yours...

The half marathon went really well on Sunday. I ran a 1:52.32, which isn't great, but about what I expected. (What I didn't expect was the 30 mph wind on the last part of the race. I'm just glad I wasn't running the full marathon. Ouch.)

Michael deserves the husband of the year award. He was awesome all weekend. On Saturday, he went with me to the packet pick-up and lunch at OC, gave me one of my birthday presents early - a Garmin running watch - so I could use it in the race, (I'll have to dedicate an entire post to my watch. It's awesome and I'm totally in love), and drove the entire 13.1 mile course with me. On Sunday, he got up at 4:45 a.m. (HUGE deal for him), dropped me off at the starting line, parked and got Macy out of the Jeep and in her stroller 4 times to cheer me on during the race, went the wrong way on a one way street twice, crashed and went through the finish line at the kids marathon because he thought they were going to miss my finish, got me a Johnnie's burger and shake after the race, and watched Macy while I took a nap on Sunday afternoon.
Macy's race day shirt: "My Mom is faster than yours". One of my sweet cross country girls made this for Macy. (Just wanted to clear that up - it wasn't me making the trash talking tee for my baby :)

Macy was in a surprisingly good mood for getting up at 5 a.m...

...Michael, not so much. :)

Zoo Fun

Macy has been to 2 zoos, in 2 states, in 3 days. On Tuesday, Michael, Mace, and I went to the Ft. Worth Zoo. There were a gabillion kindergartners there, but we survived without pushing too many little kids down. (Just kidding...or am I?) Macy's favorite was probably the penguins or the flamingos - it was a toss up. Then on Thursday, Mace and I went to the OKC zoo with Meredith and Hannah. There were only half a gabillion 4th and 5th graders there for Science Fest. It wasn't too bad though. I guess that's what zoos are like in the spring. Macy and Hannah both loved seeing the sea lions and the fish.

In other news:

- Macy is climbing on EVERYTHING. Plus, nothing really scares her. Bad combination.

- The OKC half marathon is on Sunday and I'm SO excited...and nervous. It's that same feeling I always had before my races in college. I just haven't felt that way in SEVERAL years.

- My birthday is next week! I usually start the countdown at least a month or two out, but it's really snuck up on me this year. I'm going to blame it on being too consumed with little Miss Macy...not the fact that I'm getting closer to (gulp) 30!!

- I love coffee again. I hated even the smell of it when I was pregnant with Macy and didn't really like it after she was born. Now that I love it again, both my coffee makers are broken. Good thing Starbucks is close by.

Yeah, I know...

After receiving some emails from family members about how I haven't updated my blog in over a month (just 3 1/2 weeks, Mimi :), I decided it was time. Ok, here's the somewhat brief recap since the last post: went to Texas to celebrate Macy's birthday, had Macy's 1 year check-up - 18 lbs. 4 oz and 27 in., got the flu, didn't give the flu to Michael or Macy (thankfully), got to babysit my sweet niece while Mel and G were moving, left Macy for the very first time with my Mom and Nana to go to a marriage retreat (missed her like crazy, but worth it), watched 10+ hours of the Backyardigans with Macy, bought new running shoes, trained for the 1/2 marathon (2 weeks from today!), watched 'Marley and Me' and bawled my eyes out (then tried to convince Michael that Jack needed to be an inside dog and sleep in our bed...didn't work), went back to Texas to celebrate my Nannie's 80th birthday, found out there is not a Starbucks in Mt. Pleasant, Sulphur Springs, OR Paris, TX, ate at McAlister's at least 5 times (that's probably a low estimate), and found out my big sister is HAVING A BABY!!! (Congrats Jessi!)

Our next couple of months will be crazy as well. We have:
- 4 weddings
- 3 golf tournaments
- 2 graduations
- 2 birthdays (Michael and me)
- my 1/2 marathon
- the VHS choir concert (yay Morgan!)
- a camp session at LCCC
- my high school class reunion
- and a partridge in a pear tree

Wow.

Here are the pics..our friend, Brandon Haynie, took some AWESOME pics at Macy's birthday party, but I can't them to load on Blogger right now, so I'll try later.
