My husband and I were refered to a endocrinologist in May of 2009. After all the tests were run I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility at the age of 30. I completed my first IUI cycle in September and then two more before our endocrinologist suggested we think about IVF. So after a summer of thinking we started IVF after New Year’s. We got a BFN in March and moved on to FET in May were we got our first BFP!
August 1997 — Bloke and I meet on the first day of college classes
July 2002 — Bloke and I are married.
March 2008 – Begin TTC
October 2008 – See OBGYN for yearly exam & pre-pregnancy blood tests
February 2009 – First fertility related OBGYN appointment
March 2009 – HSG test (results are normal), husband semen analysis (results are normal)
May 2009 – referred to RE
July 2009 – first consultation with RE
August 2009 – blood tests (hormone levels & genetic testing) and another semen analysis (results normal)
September 2009 – first IUI – all normal, BFN
October 2009 – second IUI – all normal, BFN
May 2010 – third IUI – thin uterine lining put on estrogen, BFN
June 2010 – RE recommends IVF
November 2010 – Saline ultrasound (results normal)
January 2011 – Start BC for IVF
February 2011 – first IVF, 12 eggs, 11 fertilized, 9 embryos, 6 blastocysts – 1 AA blastocyst transferred 5 blastocycsts frozen – BFN
May 2011 – FET – 2 AA blastocysts transfered — BFP
July 2011 — 6 week ultrasound shows two hearbeats, 8 week ultrasound shows two sacs, but only one heartbeat.
September 2011 — 20 week ultrasound shows healthy baby girl!
December 2011 — 31 week ultrasound shows baby girl weighs 3 lbs and 13 oz and is head down with a strong heartbeat.
January 2012 — NST shows healthy, active baby girl and too many contractions. Put on modified bed rest.
February 2012 — Healthy baby girl born at 37 weeks!
In the fall of 2012 baby girl was hospitalized several times for low oxygen levels. She was diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder that has improved as she has gotten older and doctors expect she will be fine as her body and her immune system mature. She is active and energetic and the light of our lives!
February 2013 — Unexpected BFP — ultrasound shows one heartbeat and estimates age at 8 weeks!
March 2013 — Miscarriage at 10 weeks, see the doctor for bleeding and constipation believed to be caused by pain medication from the miscarriage and sent for a colonoscopy.
April 2013 — diagnosed with colon cancer (we later learn stage III colon cancer).
June 2013 — have surgery to remove the tumor and all visible cancer is removed, but tests show the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and begin plans for chemotherapy.
July 2013 — begin chemotherapy and complete two rounds before developing a staph infection in my port-a-cath.
August 2013 — resume chemotherapy changing to an oral chemotherapy medicine.
October 2013 — blood counts drop, chemo delayed for 6 weeks until counts recover.
November 2013 — resume chemotherapy with all IV chemotherapy medications.
December 2013 — CT scan, colonoscopy and PET scan shows no evidence of disease.
January 2014 — Finish chemotherapy.
March 2014 — Return to work.
May 2014 — follow-up colonoscopy and CT scan show no evidence of disease. Next colonoscopy and CT scan in one year unless symptoms arise before then.
October 2014 — Unexpected BFP — ultrasound at 6 weeks shows on sac, but no heartbeat. Miscarriage at 7 weeks.
