100,000 Miles

So I had to post about my crazy boys (James included). James was excited to share the moment the car turned to 100,000 miles with the boys. He even went so far as to take Kade's car to work a couple times so he wouldn't miss the big moment. Then we all piled in the car and went for a ride. We went for ice cream at Sub Zero and came home by the back roads. When the numbers turned, James pulled over and the boys all took pictures and video. My boys have always loved numbers. They love to see the clock when it says 12:34 or something similar. They love cool dates like 12/12/12. So I shouldn't have been surprised at the big deal that this actually was!

Spring Break 2011!

For Spring Break we didn't go anywhere exciting for vacation,
but we did have a great time.
Monday the kids played with cousins.
Tuesday we went to the park and played with cousins.
Wednesday we went to Trafalga and
then watched Mitchell open his mission call.
Thursday we went to Nickle City.
Friday we went for ice cream at SubZero and then launched rockets.
Saturday we went for ice cream again and played with cousins.
So as much as my kids try to tell you how "picked on" they are for not going on vacation over Spring Break, they had tons of fun and were spoiled rotten.

Rocket Launch in 5...4...3...2...1

ImagePeyton got a 2 stage rocket for his birthday so the boys decided to go launch it. Dawson and his friend stood in the field watching and waiting to catch the rocket as it fell to the ground. It was pretty fun to watch. And the wind was perfect. No chasing or searching today! Yay!

Today was our annual trip to Color Fest at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple in Spanish Fork! If you've never been, it is amazing and they had record crowds this year. Grandpa Nackos even went with us this. We enjoyed the colors, the crowds, the music and the vegetarian meal. Wish it was a tad bit warmer, but at least the rain held off until we were safely in our car driving home!

I absolutely love welcoming "Spring" this way and I love that EVERYONE looks the same once the colors start flying. I love being part of this cultural event. It's great to see how others celebrate life!

Kade's Birthday! Sweet 16...

ImageKade turned 16 today! Where does the time go? I can't believe he's old enough to drive! What a scary thought.

Kade is our entrepreneur. He is always thinking of ways to make money, start a business or change the world--one computer game at a time. He has always been a go-getter. If he wanted something(an I-pod or X-box), he didn't wait around to ask us for one, he just earned the money at bought it himself. For Christmas (2009), he really wanted a gaming computer (expensive) so he researched it, found the parts he wanted and built it with his friend. Since the cost was still more than we usually spent on Christmas, he offered to pay off the difference. And within months he had--every last cent!

He is very smart and goal-oriented. In fact, he is a list-maker, like me. He will definitely go far in life! Happy Birthday Bud! We are so proud of you and love you!

And for dinner tonight we will, of course, have....tacos. Was there ever a question?

Peyton and I went with his class on a field trip to the State Capitol. I had never been there before. It's amazing how beautiful it is--inside and out. We learned so much about the State government and history. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time!

Dawson Turns 12!!!

ImageDawson has a great sense of humor and remembers lots of useless facts just like his dad. In fact, he is a miniature James in every way. He has become James' new TV watching partner because somehow he remembers stupid references from old episodes or other movies...even from when he was super little. Crazy!
He is also our little mischievous one--always teasing and sneaking around, trying to hang out with the older kids, stirring things up a bit. He's a great example to his little brother and they go everywhere together--kind of a package deal. He's so funny! He set his alarm for 12:21 am (the exact time he was born) just so he would know the exact moment he turned 12! Of course, because he is our night (or early morning) owl, he was still awake anyway. That's Dawson for you.
Happy Birthday Da-Da! We love you!

For his and Kade's birthday dinner we went to Ruby River as a family Friday night. When asked what he wanted for his birthday, he said $$$!

Tanner's Mission Begins

Image
Tanner's "unofficial mission farewell" was on Sunday Jan. 30, 2011. His talk was amazing. We had lots of friends and family there to show their support for him. We had an open-house afterwards at my mom's with lots of food. Tanner was officially set apart as a missionary on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011. He entered the MTC on Feb. 2, 2011 after a tearful goodbye. Follow his mission blog at www.eldernackos.blogspot.com.

Go BYU! Jimmer Rocks!

Image
Everyone knows we are BYU fans, (thus the BYU mailbox), but I just have to say...Maybe, just maybe, this year I will win March Madness! I, being the loyal BYU fan, always have my boys winning several brackets--usually to an impossible level. People laugh at me and say, "Yeah right." But I'm always hopeful for the upset. Now this year, with Jimmer Fredette rocking everyone's world, and our 20-1 record, maybe I really will have chance when I take them to the Final Four. Maybe this year, we'll get the recognition we deserve. And maybe this year, people won't laugh at my picks!
Go Cougs! Keep it up!
