RIP Blueberry ='''(

ImageFirst, I must say it's pretty pathetic to have back to back posts about your fish.

Second, it's even more pathetic when you have to announce that your fish didn't even make it 4 DAYS!

Third, you know how unsettling it is when Pita wakes up to say "Good Morning Blueberry!" then stops and says to you that Blueberry has fur?

Fourth, then you look at it and you realize something is NOT right with that fish. It has white fur (I guess decomp- gross) all over it. Then you shake the bowl a little and it floats vertical like in the picture.

Fifth, HOW THE HECK DO YOU KILL A FISH IN THREE DAYS? What happened? We fed it everyday, B even changed the water yesterday.

Sixth, what's next? What to do? Bury it in the backyard; flush the darn thing?

Seventh, what do you say when your kid is sad their fish is dead?
Pita- "Mommy, Blueberry dead. Is not my fault. Needs gets a new one. She fall down. She owwee!"

Eighth, do you get a new one? Or throw the pet towel in cause you obviously have no business having one. Much less upgrading to something more difficult.

Nine, roll your eyes when your husband suggests you get a cat.

Ten, realize it's still sitting on the counter and you need to deal with it.

Welcome Blueberry!

pet is an animal kept for companionship and enjoyment or a househeld animal, as opposed to livestocklaboratory animalsworking animals or sport animals, which are kept for economic reasons. The most popular pets are noted for their loyal or playful characteristics, for their attractive appearance, or for their song. Pets also generally seem to provide their owners with non-trivial health benefits; keeping pets has been shown to help relieve stress to those who like having animals around.
ImageSo my sister Emy took Pita to get her very first pet today. A fish... since not only does Pita enjoy them, it seems the least difficult.
ImageThey went to the tanks first, but those require filters and a whole system so they skipped that idea.
ImageThey decided on a Betta... which Emy says is boring but I say it's cheap and easy. Now when I say that I say that cause I will probably be the one taking care of it!
ImageFood for thought.
ImageSupplies, supplies.
ImagePita and Hay named the fish... Blueberry. Don't ask.
ImageLet's hope the keeping pets have been known to relieve stress really is applicable. Keep your fingers crossed for me and I guess for Blueberry, too. May she live... awhile.

Yay for first pets. Mine was a hamster named Peanut Butter. But that's a whole nother story.

To be continued...

Christmas

ImageSo it was a fun Christmas this year, Pita really knew what was going on and Chubs was at a fun non-moving age. So the destuction was minimal as I'm sure next year won't be.
ImageSanta brought Pita her "big castle" that she's been asking for for about 3 months now. B set it up after she went to bed. I think he had more fun setting it up and positioning them then he let on.
ImageEverything under our tree was for Pita and Chubs so you can only imagine what a hay day it was for her.
ImageI don't know what Chubs was more excited about... the paper or the squishy cars on the inside.

Christmas is definitely way more fun with kids!

Stickerhead

ImageSo I'm an avid "I hate wasting stickers" kinda person. So it drives me nuts that Pita peels all of them off and sticks them on her... face.
ImageIf you ever give her ANY. That's where they'll end up. Not her shirt, a piece of paper, or on a book. But her face.
ImageThen a couple end up in her hair at the top of her head too.

What a weirdo. Drives me insane.

My Ludicrous Post

So in fear of posting anything about my family and having people slate me as a horrible mother by assuming that the next one I would post would then defer to the ludicrous statement from the previous post I will post something that has nothing to do with my family yet someone else that if read without the previous post statement would seem ludicrous by nature on its own.

Got that? Ha ha, Cecille that was for you and your love of run-on sentences.

P.S. Did you know ludicrous also means laughable? I did not. Maybe I had a different idea of what it meant.

Anyway, here goes.

Image
So while I can't buy Pita Burberry dresses and Le Petit Bateau tops I can, however, afford to have the same sippy cups. Either that or the Cruises like to feel more civilian purchasing their cups at the same places as the rest of us. Little do we know hers are probably gold lined or something.
Image
Of course since this is a ludicrous post I made Pita take a picture with her cup and by her facial expression you see she is on the same wavelength as the theme. BTW she had the bangs FIRST. I don't have a Suri obsession. Oh and since we're throwing all things out there, the ugly fabric on that chair will be one day in the future covered with
Image
this super cute fabric. One day.

I'm Either Busy or No Longer Creative. Could Be the Latter.

Why is posting so hard when you are actually busy? You would think that I'd have lots to say since it's been non stop all month. But I've barely come up with anything funny or witty to say.

This makes me feel lame, since I've realized that the past year I've obviously had no life since I posted so much.

He he oh well. I'm sure I'll find something ludicrous to post soon enough.

The Smashing Pumpkins

For those of you who know B, he is probably the BIGGEST Smashing Pumpkins fan in the world. We've gone to about a dozen of their concerts in the past nine years or so. Waited in pouring rain for ten hours in front of Virgin Megastore in LA just to see them play, driven to Santa Barbara, San Diego, LA, and even flew to San Francisco to see them play at the Fillmore. It's true love. So we had the once in a lifetime chance to get a 5 star all-access pass thanks to S and her help!
ImageHere we are waiting in the pit...
ImageGot to be there for the soundcheck!
ImageB couldn't be smiling any bigger! Here we are with Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin for a photo op and autographs.

Image
Q and A session with them.
ImageWe were in the pit, right at the very front. You could not get any closer than we were! We snapped this shot, we were thatclose!
ImageThe whole band at the end.
ImageThe pass that worked it's magic.

ImagePita and her shirt that we had signed just for her by the guys. Hopefully we'll frame it and she can have it on her wall one of these days.

What a killer experience.

All I Want for Christmas Is

ImageA Mac I Book so I can take funny pictures like these whenever I want. Who knew a Saturday night at home could be so much fun?
ImageIf you want lots of forehead or heavy bangs, you can have it with a Mac book.
Image
If you want Anime eyes and tiny lips, you can have it with a Mac book.
ImageIf you want plastic surgery that makes you finally have cheekbones, you can have it with a Mac book.
ImageIf you want to show your daughter how crazy you really are on the inside on the outside, you can have it with a Mac book.
ImageIf you wish you could have had twin Pitalopes, you can have it with a Mac book.
ImageAnd if you want the party to never end and something to always make you smile about when you look at it, you can have it with a Mac book.

The Wonderpets Save the Cookies (Ok well mom not the Wonderpets)

ImageSo while attempting to make these, I got to enjoy an experience I had only before seen on TV. Pita was helping me bake and we decided to use my KitchenAid mixer. So we were getting ready to put in the dry ingredients and work them into the wet. Well, Pita got all switch happy and flung it from off to high. Dry ingredients FLEW EVERYWHERE. I never thought I'd live it and I definitely know why, clean up is NOT FUN. So Pita was covered in it and so was I and so was the counter top... and the floor.
ImageThis is after a partial attempt to scrape the flour back into the bowl to save the cookies.
ImageThat's obviously where I was standing.
ImageHappily eating what should have been a perfect Pumpkin cookie. OH well. At least Pita's not discerning.

Make your own, make 'em right. These are amazingly light and fluffy and delightful with whipped cream on top. (But let's face it, just about everything is)

Pumpkin Cookies
1 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup pumpkin, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and butter till fluffy. Add pumpkin, egg, and vanilla. Combine all dry and stir into wet. Mix and drop by teaspoon on parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes, transfer to cool immediately.

Other Loves

Those of you who know me know that I'm having a not-so-secret love affair with these...
ImageI buy two boxes at a time and usually always have six on hand (one time they were out for two weeks and I had a melt down. Not that I make them that often, I just have this scarcity complex about the things I love) . They are A M A Z I N G.

Yesterday was our ward's Personal Progress and I was in charge of dessert. I got boxed Pumpkin Cobbler to make from Costco (B "tested" it and said it was better than pumpkin pie) and I was going make brownies since my girls at church requested them.

VIA TEXT MESSAGES in the morning...

Me- Morning! Two questions. One, can butter be used in place of oil in any recipe? Two, use my delicious Traders box brownies for tonight or the one leftover packet of those other box brownies (Ghiradelli).
B- Dunno and give them the good stuff. Don't pawn crappy brownies off on the youth, they may turn on you.
Me- Fine fine that was the Asian in me talking. I already shorted on it with the box cobbler for tonight so I should probably spring for the good stuff.
B- Yeah.
Me- Did you know I'm out of brownie mix now? So you better hope Trader's has some cause if they don't your a** is grass!
B- I see where your loyalties lie.
Me- What? In my chocolate brownies? Ha ha!
B- Yeah. You voted no on 8 in the hopes that you could someday wed. To bad sucker!!! It's a civil union for you second class citizen and baked goods.
Me- It's sad huh. You could have married Blue Bell.

Image
( First wife would be Homemade Vanilla)
Image                  (Second would be the new Southern Blackberry Cobbler)
B- Why switch from one cold marriage to another?

Cue eye roll and of course body shaking laughter. Never a dull conversation with B.

Totally Random "D" Things That Are Making Me Happy This Week

Besides the usual husband and kids of course... Isn't it funny how the small things can totally make your day or week different? This week I'm obsessing over...
ImageThe December issue of Glamour. They have their Women of the Year issue every December and it makes you feel good about being a girl. We truly have amazing ladies to look up to. Also, it's funny how a new and shiny magazine arriving in your mail box brings a smile.
ImageDiscounted STILA eye shadows from Costco. One duo is usually $20 dollars but I got a six pack of duos for $16 dollars (Tustin Costco by Sears). During 9/11 lipstick sales more than doubled. It was a sign of the times that even though the economy was bad, people used something as small as a tube of lipstick as a pick me up to feel better. So in these Recessionista times, you too can find joy in the cheapest, yet loveliest set of new shadows you can get.
ImageDove Cucumber and Green Tea Deodorant. Smells SO good and there's something about breaking open a new one to make you feel happy (and obviously clean! Good for you when you use it everyday).
ImageDawn Dish soap. I was reaching for Kirkland Signature soap (at Costco once again) and B said "No, let's splurge and get Dawn!" So for those of you who still hand wash your dishes like we do, enjoy the yummy long lasting bubbles of Dawn. See ya later Palmolive!

Image
Downy Vanilla and Lavender Dryer sheets. To be used in conjunction with the Vanilla and Lavender detergent. Cause c'mon let's face it. If you're going to be up to your neck in laundry it sure as heck better smell good.

Pixie Hollow

B had the day off on Tuesday so his office could be used as a Prop 8 Hub to call voters, so we went to Disneyland that morning. Those of you who have seen the Tinkerbell movie probably could smell all the wonderful ways they'd develop that franchise into a money making machine ("please go up Disney stock!" I chant every time I'm there).
ImageTink and her friends all live in this magical place called Pixie Hollow. Now you too can visit them (two fairies plus Tink before Thanksgiving and just one fairy plus Tink after that) in the new recreated world right in front of the Matterhorn and to the left of Tomorrowland (aka Space Nerd land as B likes to call it).
ImageWe waited half an hour (short compared to the Princess Faire which is about an hour) to see this new attraction. It's cute, all the flowers and plants are huge to make you feel as dainty as a pixie.
ImageHere is Pita with Fawn (helps animals) and Silvermist (water fairy). I was a little disappointed in the casting of Silvermist. She is the Asian fairy and I was expecting someone... different. Oh well. I'm sure there are 3-4 versions of her.
ImageHere's Tink!
ImageDon't we look tiny compared to that huge mushroom? I wish!

Good times at Pixie Hollow. (If you go with a little girl, be sure to shield her eyes from the MASSIVE amounts of items for purchase so perfectly placed at the exit.)
