July 10, 2011

Our little angel, Jaxon Shawn Webb, came to us 12 days early on July 10, 2011 at 2:15 am. We are loving him to pieces and are so grateful for this precious gift God has sent to us. We love him & finally feel like a real family.

Saturday July 9 I was having strong contractions throughout the day. I called the nurse at the hospital & asked her what to do. She told me since I could still talk & sort-of walk through my contractions this may not be labor but I was welcome to come in & see. I decided not to go in since I had already been in twice & was a little embarrassed to show up again without being sure. I went about my day but the contractions kept getting stronger as the day & night progressed.

That evening we went out to dinner with our friends, Keith & Ashley & baby Kolby Slentz. They came over to our condo afterwords & we were sitting around talking and I was dying. The contractions were strong & close & they sucked. Keith & Ashley were watching me & finally asked if I was ok. I immediately said no & we needed to go to the hospital. Within about 5-10 minutes we were out the door & on our way to the hospital.

We got to the hospital & I was dilated to a 4. They said if I progressed to a 5 in the next hour they'd admit me & we'd have a baby the next morning (I think it was around 9:30 pm???). An hour later... I was at a 5. The anesthesiologist took awhile to get to the hospital (he arrived about an hour to an hour 1/2 later). I was dying by this point. I don't know how women go natural. By the time he got there I was at about a 6 or a 7 & shaking like crazy. The hardest part was having to hold still for 4 minutes while he gave me the epidural. It took about 15-20 minutes for the meds to kick in but once they did I was in heaven. They broke my water about midnight & 25-30 minutes later some nurses came in & looked a little bit concerned. They said there was something strange going on with my contractions. A million different scenarios were running through my mind of what could be happening. They watched them for a few minutes & she checked my dilation. Out of all the things I thought that could be wrong I wasn't prepared for this... I was dilated to a 9.5 & it was time to push!! I was so caught of guard that I started shaking again haha. My doctor, Doctor Hoggard, came in & I started pushing. I pushed for 40 minutes & out came our precious little angel. It was such a miracle! The look on Shawn's face was so sweet! He looked over joyed & emotional & just so excited!

Jaxon was just a little guy. He weighed 7 Lbs 2 oz & was 19 1/2 inches long. He lost 10 oz & weighed 6 lbs 8 oz. I felt like I was carrying around a little doll.

I wasn't finished yet though. Fairly soon after baby came out it was time to deliver the placenta. It wasn't quite ready to come out so it took a good 1/2 hour to get that out. I tested positive for the strep B virus & because Jaxon came so fast they were only able to give me 1 dose (or less) of the antibiotic so they took him away from me for about 3 hours to do tests, clean him up & give him more antibiotics (I think). I lost a lot of blood so I honestly don't really remember much between his birth & when they brought him to me. All I remember is delivering the placenta, & getting a shot on my leg. Everything else was kind of blur.

I got to share this incredible birth experience with my besto Dani Bastian & her son "Z", Shawn's sister Ashley, my mom & Shawn of course. It was special to have them there. xoxo

We are so grateful for our little man! He's such an angel & a true gift. We love his sweet spirit & darling face!!! We just can't get enough of his cuteness. Despite the sleepless nights & poop & pee we just love him more & more every single day.

happy birthday mommy & AMERICA

For my birthday back in May, Jaxon got me Stadium of Fire tickets. It was so much fun once we got there. Getting there was difficult being 9 months pregnant. We had to park about 2 miles away-on top of a hill, walk to the opposite side of the stadium, & hike up a mountain of stairs to get to our seats. Once we got to our row we realized we were on the wrong side. I about gave up. I was ready to go home at that point. But everyone was really nice and let us walk in front of them so I didn't have to go back down & up the stairs all over again. Need to say the least... it about killed me getting there. The way back to the car wasn't AS bad because it wasn't so hot outside-but the hill wasn't fun. The show was awesome! David Archuleta & Brad Paisley were both amazing! We had so much fun! Thanks little man for the awesome birthday present!

he's coming any day!!

Image38 weeks & 1 day
Image
We went to the doctor this morning for my 38 week appointment. Dr. Hoggard did a rough check & I'm still dilated to a 3. He did a "rough" check to hopefully help jump-start labor. He told us that he thinks we'll have the baby this weekend. We scheduled induction for Friday (a week from today) so we have 1 week left MAXIMUM. He was surprised Jax didn't come this week since I was so far along when I went to the hospital but oh well. It feels good to have an end date set though.

We're slowly but surely getting there. I can't believe we're 8 weeks away. His official due date was exactly 2 months from this last Sunday so we have less than 8 weeks to go! Crazy!
