Beschrijving
Met Polylang, volledig geïntegreerd in WordPress en alleen gebruikmakend van de ingebouwde core functies (taxonomieën), kan je de prestaties van je website op peil houden en een meertalige website maken met slechts één extra taal tot 10 of meer, afhankelijk van je behoeften. Er is geen limiet aan het aantal toegevoegde talen en de taalpakketten van WordPress worden automatisch gedownload als ze klaar zijn.
Functies
Afhankelijk van het type website dat je hebt gebouwd of van plan bent te bouwen, kan een combinatie van plugins uit de onderstaande lijst interessant zijn.
Alle plugins bevatten een wizard waarmee je ze in een paar klikken kunt instellen.
Polylang
Polylang en Polylang Pro delen dezelfde core met functies zoals:
- Vertalen van berichten, pagina’s, media, categorieën, bericht tags, aangepaste berichttypes en taxonomieën, RSS feeds; RTL scripts worden ondersteund.
- De taal wordt ingesteld door de taalcode in de URL, of je kan per taal een ander subdomein of domein gebruiken.
- Automatisch kopiëren van categorieën, bericht tags en andere meta’s bij het maken van een nieuw bericht of pagina vertaling.
- Vertalen van klassieke menu’s en klassieke widgets. Ook toegankelijk met Site-editor klassieke functies in blokthema’s.
- Aanpasbare taalwisselaar beschikbaar als een klassieke widget of een klassiek navigatie menu-item.
- Compatibiliteit met Yoast SEO.
Polylang Pro
Helpt de tijd die je besteedt aan het vertalen van je website te optimaliseren met een aantal zeer handige extra functies zoals:
- Betere integratie in de nieuwe blok-editor.
- Taalswitcher beschikbaar als blok.
- Taalopties beschikbaar in de widget blok-editor.

- WooCommerce e-mails vertalen en naar klanten sturen in hun taal.

Installatie
- Zorg ervoor dat je WordPress 6.2 of later gebruikt en dat je server PHP 7.2 of later uitvoert (dezelfde vereiste als WordPress zelf).
- Als je andere meertalige plugins hebt geprobeerd, deactiveer ze dan voordat je Polylang activeert, anders kun je onverwachte resultaten krijgen!
- Installeer en activeer de plugin zoals gewoonlijk via het menu ‘Plugins’ in WordPress.
- De installatiewizard wordt automatisch gestart om je te helpen gemakkelijker aan de slag te gaan met Polylang door de belangrijkste functies te configureren.

First, I’m very happy with this plugin.But, I’m missing the multisite support, which isn’t quite a serious problem since the sites on subdomains often end up with a localized version of the global one.There’s also the modern browser’s feature which can translate anything on your language.So I’m a bit scared for the future of this great plugin.

It’s arguably the best language management plugin for WordPress, but it’s unacceptable, that it’s still not compatible with block editor and full site editor in 2026 and relying on legacy widgets.
