Daddy's up high?

Image

Adam has been in California since Monday. The boys really miss him. I told them daddy is working. He flew up high in a airplane and he is far away.

They say "daddy bye bye?" It has been the same questions all week. "Daddy up high?" and "daddy bye bye?" It hard to tell how much they really understand. Adam has never been gone this long.

They got little airplanes at Kohls tonight. I think that helped them understand better. I keep telling them that daddy loves them and misses them and will be home soon.

They have talked to him a couple times on the phone. Today was the first time ever that either one have them have said anything when "talking on the phone." Dylan kept repeating..."daddy you up high?"

I wonder if they think Adam has really been flighing around in a airplane since he left?

We're going to Disney World!

We leave January 3rd and come home the 11th. Very excited to be taking a much needed vacation. I've been trying to tell the boys all day about Disney. They don't understand. I think they thought we were going today. They keep saying "up high, go bye bye, daddy...mama". Adam is in California right now for work so I have been telling them daddy went up high in a airplane far away. I think they thought we were going to see him.
Can't wait! Its less than 3 weeks away!

MY letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited their doctor's office more than my doctor and broke up more fights than I can even count.

I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store. I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.

If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.

I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back.

Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours Always,
MOM

P.S. One more thing...you can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children young enough to believe in Santa for many years to come.

I just came across this picture of Dylan. The look on his face is so funny. He was 12 months and learning to walk. I stood him up against the wall. He was afraid to take a step and was trying to hold onto the wall. I know I posted this along time ago but had to share it again. I need to stop looking at baby pictures. It's making me sad we can't have anymore kids.

Dog's tail

Yesterday Noah's stuffed dog that we call "dog" (yeah, we are really creative) lost his tail. I'm not sure if the boys got in a tug of war fight or what exactly happened. Out of nowhere he got a small hole in his butt and his tail came completely off. This was very tragic for Noah. He carries his dog everywhere!! We rarely leave the house without "dog" and sleeping without it would be rough. Why is the tail such a big deal you wonder? Well, because he carries it by the tail and rubs it on his face. Its funny because our cousin Jeff (from Adam's side of the family) had a dog that looked almost identical to Noah's when he was a kid. His dog also lost it's tail at one point. My mom came over and saved the day. Can you believe I don't even have a needle and thread?

this is the best picture I could find of "dog"

I could not resist trying to get some good outside pictures today. So, I carried the boys to the backyard. By the way its not easy to carry them both at the same time anymore. They must weigh at least 30 pounds each. I wouldn't be surprised if its a little more than that. Anyways, when I finally got to the backyard I stood them up in the snow on the edge of the pond area. Noah fell over and landed face first!! He was so mad at me he screamed the whole time. Maybe that is part of the reason I like these pictures so much. That is just Noah's personality! Don't we have a beautiful view?

I haven't posted many updates lately. Both boys are talking more. Dylan definitely says a lot more than Noah. Dylan talks in 2-3 word sentences most of the time. New things he has said lately are..."daddy's car" "nite mama, nite daddy" "get bear" "go bye bye" and his favorite "NO Noah dat mine!!!" they both say "dat mine" all day long. Noah says "whoops" I love it when he says that. I don't think Noah is behind in his speech just not as advanced as Dylan. I'm sure he will catch up.

My friend Kristi took these pictures of the boys at my mom's house last week. These are their christmas pictures. I'll be using pictures taken that day for our christmas cards. I'm not posting those pictures. You'll have to wait to see those when you get your xmas card! I love these pics...I love every picture Kristi has taken of my boys. What would I do if I had never met Kristi? Seriously all my favorites were taken by her. Thanks for the great pictures!
