Why did we choose Nordic?
We selected the Nordic nRF5340 SoC for our LEO-L50 outdoor asset management device due to the SoC’s powerful computing and low power consumption capabilities, as well as its support for the Zephyr RTOS which provides greater flexibility during development. Moreover, the nRF5340 SoC-enabled Bluetooth LE connectivity provides the LEO-L50 with further expansion capabilities, allowing it to connect to various sensors to deliver a wide range of monitoring data beyond GNSS location.

The machine learning capabilities of Nordic’s nRF5340 SoC enable a number of our eCozy 2.0 smart thermostat solution’s key features and functionalities, such as anomaly detection and adaptive heating schedules. Furthermore, the comprehensive Nordic nRF Connect SDK provides a ready-made, integrated environment with an RTOS [Zephyr], protocol stacks [Matter, Zigbee, Bluetooth LE], hardware abstraction layers, drivers, libraries, and application samples. We selected Nordic’s nRF52840 SoC for our PlayerData Edge Air indoor and outdoor sports data tracker due to the SoC’s Bluetooth performance, range, and low power consumption, as well as the fact the SoC is well supported from a software perspective. In addition, by incorporating the highly configurable Nordic nPM1300 PMIC in our solution, we have addressed the key element of power management while achieving an impressive form factor to help target the mass market. Prior to using the nPM1300, we relied on four discrete ICs to do the same job.
