Prof. Kaeko Chiba is an associate professor of AIU, teaching Japanese Traditional Arts, Japanese Society, Gender Studies in Japan. Her research field is how to preserve traditional art in Japan.

What is AIU like for you?

阿部陽子です。秋田出身で、家族は夫と、猫が二匹います。趣味はとにかく食べ歩きと飲み歩き、あとはライブ鑑賞など、音楽を幅広くクラシックから洋楽まで聴きに行くのが好きです。 

My name is Yoko Abe. I am from Akita and my family consists of my husband and two cats. I’m a foodie, and I also like to go to live concerts to listen to a wide range of music, from classical to western. 

Dr. Pat. is the Head of English for Academic Purposes Program. He has been with AIU since 2013. Dr. Pat.’s research interests are in teacher development, the use of creative writing and student heritage in the EFL/ESL classroom, and the impact of distance learning methodologies on pedagogy.

What is HoP Project?

The HoP project compares AIU to a popcorn bucket filled with different popcorn flavors to a university comprised of individuals with varying ideas toward the university. We are organizing a student's podcast "POPCORN TALK" and a professor's interview "Get to Know Your Professors" to build a bridge for all AIU students and faculties. Prof. Naeko Naganuma is an associate professor of AIU, from Japan. She has been with AIU since 2004, making her one of the longest-serving professors at AIU.
Her research fields are Applied Linguistics, Pragmatics, CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning), Second Language Vocabulary Acquisition, and Intercultural Communication.
