Song of the Week!

This is the song of the week because it relates to my life on a million levels.  James Taylor, Paris, Wrong Boy For Me That I Almost Married, Right Boy For Me That I Did Marry! Yep I love this song.

Halloween and a Hoe Down

The Activity Day Girls held a Daddy Daughter Hoe Down.  You know you have an amazing husband when he is willing to not only take his daughters to a dance- which he hates, but wear western wear on top of that.  Jeff really is the best best dad ever!

While they were at the Hoe Down- Ethan and I went on a Mommy/Son date.  Here is the list he made of things for us to do.  He is so cute- we didn't have time to do all of these things.  I remind myself all the time that one day he will fall for another woman and I will be replaced so I need to take advantage of these dates now.

This year for Halloween we had a Police Woman, Evil Pumpkin and Cruella Devil. This was Cruells's last Halloween parade. She didn't want to even dress up- but I told her that mothers live to see their children dressed up in cute little costumes parading around and that she would break my heart if she didn't. So she obliged.

I am one of the room mom's for Whitney's class- we had the best party!  We played minute to win it games and did an experiment called Elephant's Toothpastes.  That night we had Jeff's family over for our traditional orange chicken and trick or treating.  I was too crazy to get any pictures of the last half of our day- but it was great!

BUDS Arches Adventure 2012

Jeff has this amazing group of friends from high school that call themselves the Buds.  Every year they go on a Bud Camp Out.  We've only been able to make it a few times- but when we do we always LOVE every minute.  This year's Bud Camp was in Arches- hence the fun video that our friend Clint made.  The families that made it were Brough, Orgill, Thomsen, Smith, Aune and Slack.  We went over UEA when the kids were out of school.  It was short- but AWESOME!  A huge thank you to our friend Richard for planning it all.  He is a man after my own heart and had every little detail planned out and a fun schedule that we followed.  I don't love all the prep it takes to go camping- but it's always worth it.  We took Jeff's dad's truck this time so that we didn't have to stress about fitting all of our gear in the van.  We stayed in Devil's Garden.  This is the only campsite in Arches.  It's at the top of Arches.  Arches is great because it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive from where we live.  It's right next to Moab, so if you forget something you are covered.  It's also a hikers paradise, so we were in heaven!!  The weather was great and not too hot or too cold.  It does get chilly at night so we brought hand warmers to sleep with.  We took the Hot Hands Brand and I am now officially endorsing them as the best hand warmers ever- they were still warm when we woke up each morning.  For meals we did some of our camping favs like walking tacos, pita pizza and uncrustable sandwiches.  We didn't cook too much because we spent every waking hour hiking.  We hiked Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Double O Arch, Pine Tree Arch, Tunnel Arch, Sand Dune Arch, Double Arch and Windows Arch Trail.  I know that sounds like a lot but Arches actually has 2000 different arches so we have a ways to go.  We also stopped to see Balance Rock and Skyline Arch.  A hint for road trips with kids- we used a ticket system where the kids could earn one ticket every half and hour that they were good.  Then they could turn in three tickets for a prize.  Best road trip ever!
I'd say that my favorite moment of the whole trip was the first night there.  We were sitting by the fire and I looked up and was in awe of the millions and millions of stars that you could see.  I forget that there are so many because in the city where we live you can't see that many- hardly any compared to what you can see in the wilderness.  It is evidence to me that there is a God- that he knows me and that he loves me and watches over my family.  This was the best trip and I have millions of pictures so here are a few..
